Hell, imho Playhem counts... even if Bo1... the only thing that shouldn't count is random ladder encounters that are Bo1.

I don't agree with counting _any_ online event because of the latency factor, which simply ruins competitive play. This + there's many many online tournaments. Many of the results are hard to find too.

It's LAN only so, TSL defffff doesn't count.

Spain are the undisputed champions since 2008 only the USA have beaten them competitively (non-friendly) and I don't think the USA have played any competitions since 2010 since the next WC or American-based tournament aint til 2014 It's not since the 2008 World cup, its since the ORIGINAL international football competition beween scotland and england waaaay back in the1800s, much like this is since the original GSL Open Season One. If you had read the link in OP you'd see how it makes sense. It's all in good fun is what we're saying, something extra on the line when people meet in competitions. I agree with what people are are saying about TSL not counting as it's an online cup and there are SO fricken many of those.

It wouldn't have to be fancy even... but hopefully DURABLE. Hell why not eh? That's what makes e-sports so fantastic. We can take something like this and make it into a real thing haha. Still just for fun, but how exciting will it be to have an actual belt on the line that circulates the globe?!

The only problem might be making sure that players bring it along and pass it on when they lose xD Maybe we can find a sponsor, whose name will go on the belt (think LG/Asus/etc World Championship Belt). It can be sort of a giant around-the-world King of the Hill thing, where each successful LAN title defense earns the champion $50/25/10. Players that forget to bring the belt or don't surrender it in a timely manner upon defeat lose money.

Players that forget to bring the belt or don't surrender it in a timely manner upon defeat lose money. Can you imagine people using it in ceremonies at the GSL when they successfully defend, or defeat for that matter? I guess I could see the ten bucks for a UWCS match being acceptable by all parties, but I don't think the fee for not bringing it should be there. People would bring it, it'd be too cool not to bring it really. Can you imagine MC with it?! It'd be awesome! I'm gonna look into what I can do to make this happen tomorrow. Likely nothing... but you never know. I posted on reddit but it's getting downvoted for some reason: http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/xr0z6/anyone_in_the_community_able_to_help_make_a_belt/ Edit: Regarding TSL or not, I have to stick with not. Partly for the LAN for the belt transfer, and also because there are several other prestigious online tournaments. Most notably KSL, that's a pretty big one really, and IPLTAC and NASTL (are we including NASL btw? Probably not other than the finals... I would think. If you include TSL you absolutely have to include NASL right? And then if NASL then might as well NASTL as it's just the team league of that franchise, but IPLTAC and KSL are more prestigious team leagues...)
