Sorry if this has been answered before, I tried searching to no avail.
Anyway, I'm from the states and a couple of my family members went are on vacation in italy at the moment.
If they were to buy a copy of starcraft 2 there, and bring it back, would I be able to just create a new bnet account under eu.battle.net, attach the game to that account, and play using the client I currently have installed? Or do i have to install the game altogether in a folder different from my current sc2 client?
Main reasons I'd to play on the eu server is because, well, its the EU server and the playhem tournaments happen earlier in the day(4 or 5pm my time(est) compared to 8pm or 9pm EST).

Every version of SCII must be in it's own folder. SCII auto installs to Starcraft II so you must rename existing folders before installing additional clients.

Hey thanks but, you're only answering half of my question. I kind of figured i'd have to rename the NA clients folder before installing, but what about the whole bringing the game back from europe and setting up an account for it? I would have to attach it to a bnet account using the eu.battle.net, correct?

Go on eu.battle.net, make sure it doesn't change itself to us.battle.net, log into your battle.net account and then just buy the game from blizzard or add a key you bought else where. You can only have 1 copy of a game per region so you can't actually buy another na license. And thats about it, once you have a eu copy just launch your eu star 2 and log in as always, u will get to create a new character too. But you can use the same battle net account for both.

I did that, it doesn't let me buy the game through there. It says License limit reached where it would normally show the "buy game" button.
I just created a new EU account, once I get the key, I'll just have to activate it and download the client and rename my other sc2 installation folders.

Thats because you were using the us store, let me link you. https://eu.battle.net/account/management/get-a-game.html
If you click this and you ensure it doesn't change the eu into us you will be able to add a eu license to whatever you please.
But yeah thats what you have to do, also I prefer to either use this or just rename what you install as I find that easier to just change it during setup then change what I already have. Also if you buy from blizz you just get the game added to your account, u don't get a key.

using a relocalizer is recommended, especially if you're using a ssd (two installs take a lot of space, 64gb or 128gb isn't too much in the first place).
I actually bought two EU versions of the game, on two battle.net accounts, and then created a ticket asking to change region. It took some time (and a lot of e-mails, apparently they ask you your secret question and answer, which I didn't remember), but it worked just great (plus it was quite cheaper :p)

How do I ensure that it doesn't change to US?
If I go to eu.battle.net and login with my us battle.net account, it automatically changes to Us.battle.net.
But I guess that doesn't even matter anyway since I created the eu account. So now once I get the key I can just download the EU client, change the folder names of my previous sc2 install, and then install it, right?

Then log in with an EU bnet account.

I can log into my eu account using the us client I currently have? (after buying the game of course.)

No, you cannot use an accountbound account on another server, not yet anyway. Seems like blizzard are gonna change something about that with HotS, i'll see if I can find the source on that.

I just wanted to say, you're going to have a pretty significant advantage playing on EU from the states because all your opponents will often either up all night or just woken up if you ladder at the right times.

The main reason I want it is to play the playhem tournies because they start almost 4 hours earlier than the NA tournies, itd be nice to finish a tournie around 8 instead of 12 at night >.>
and of course, to get some experience playing the EU players

I would also want to note that you can always ask blizzard to change your game from NA client to EU client and vice versa. Like I had a 2nd eu client so I send a support ticket to blizzard and they changed it to na easily.
About the installation, you need to install the sc2 eu client separably from the na client, that means you need to download it from the start and put it in a separate folder.

Oh so then forget all of this lol I have 3 na accounts i'll just put in a ticket to change one of them to eu.
thanks guys the help is appreciated.

thanks guys the help is appreciated. You should pick the one you played the least on, since all the data and progression is erased once you transfer it to eu.
