I'm sure there's plenty over here on EU as well, just they're smart and don't get caught.
I hope it's only a matter of time until we can catch them as well. I hope online tournaments will require some sort of program that lets you scan your computer for hacks, also with 5-10 min stream delay to prevent stream cheating. Also really stupid by Blizzard by inviting people based on ladder rank and points when so many hacks as well, I can't believe they didn't calculate into that when they planned this. But then again we've had so many problem with LAN and disconnects in finals as well, even though they attended they didn't seem to care at first. Now we'll get something in HotS that lets you reconnect at least, I hope we get the same for these hacking issues.

"Niche gamer communities are hardcore"?
I expect only a few would actually stand up to him physically, maybe a sucker punch and beatdown from a mob, no real SC figureheads would be involved because it is wrong and illegal, it's not illegal to hack, the punishment for it should be exclusion and shunning like inControl said.
Remember violence breeds hatred and hatred breeds violence. I'd rather have this guy attend this LAN, be given no attention except for odd fuck you's, your a prick, your a hacker GTFO, manner mules and unit dancing, watch him get 0-2'ed out of the competition after getting crushed by un-scouted 3-3 carriers because he can't scout without MH, and if that guy has a shred of decency in him he should have an ephiphany that being a hacker/outsider in his chosen community is not for him, and will mature and eventually be good for the community(as he cant be a terrible player to hit GM even with hacks, prob an ok player actually, not semi-pro but still decent), or he will not grow up, continue to knock his head on the door until he passes out or moves on to ruin another game.
On the other hand, a violent confrontation has the following consequences: 1(Obvious): Physical Injury....need i explain? I could also include compensation for bullying tactics(which is essentially what the TL community is essentially suggesting here from a legal standpoint) 2. Press Disaster.....people involved will be banned, police/lawyers may be involved, going to drain money from everyone's coffers and also be a black stain on our up-and coming industry. 3. Loss of Business....sponsors will be scared off, venues wont want to host or wont do as good deals, generally the 2 easiest ways to burn bridges in anything you do in life is to cause controversy and to attack your contacts.
Finally to conclude, I'd like to say that hackers are not always terrible people. I know that everyone of us has issues with the game, and Starcraft in particular is such a mental game, that I see cases of hackers such as this not as malpractice, but more of a giving in of a player to their ultimate fantasy of being an amazing player and not having the willpower or talent to get their on their own skills. It's like the forbidden fruit and its temptation is mystifying for those of us who grind as much as we can to be the best we can be, but makes sense if you cannot stand the realization that you can't be #1.

DONT SPAM HIM LIKE THIS. Please. Let the cheaters go to the event and NOTHING happen to them. Theyll get knocked out.
Heres my Point though.
He could have grounds to say. Blizzard invited me cos they know i cheat and TL/Blizz forums have made me a hate figure and now my life is over. YOU GUYS RUINED MY LIFE
The hatered now is already documented in video/text and as you can see the people in the game know this. the one word here is COMPENSATION. You guys are going to make him rich for the rest of his life.
if you cant see my point here then you have got somone laughing at the other side of his face at the expense of a f£$%^ing game. Please this thread needs to be deleted and we must never speak of these people again.
Its my opinion blizzard have invited him cos they know and . . . well . . . niche gamer communities are pretty hardcore to say the least. Please guys delete this thread before he reads this . . hes probably reading EVERY single post though
What shrooms are you taking? I'd like some of that. He's a hate figure because he cheated in a sporting event. I doubt he'll get any sympathies. You don't get compensation for being a hate figure - sorry. I highly doubt he'll get rich. This thread should most definitely not be deleted. It's extremely important to highlight hackers and make sure they're banished from the community and future tournaments. He was top of NA ladder. That's how he got in and he hacked his way up there. He's illegitimately taking an aspiring pro's spot in a tournament. He's an asshole and deserves anything he gets as long as it doesn't go as far as physical violence. statikex just blew my mind, man!

Dude this is a gaming community.. None's going to hit him, and he will absolutely not show up to the event.

Well, he'll go there. Lose badly. Go home. Hack some more on ladder.

Have you read this whole thread? The internet is screaming for his blood.

List me all the physical confrontations in SC2 since the beta... exactly, NONE. Please stfu about learning this guy a lesson by beating him or something. And he won't show on the tourney, he saw the thread and won't come.

I just thought I'd throw my two cents in:
To all the people who are saying we should beat him up and whatnot, that's not how this works. You get him kicked off his team and hated by everyone, that's what we want. Make him never want to show his face around here again.
To those saying this is a witch hunt and defending the hackers and whatnot, this cannot be allowed to fly. We do need to pursue these guys, because if not then that's pretty much saying hacking is fine by us. iCCup had Antihack, but there's nothing like that in SC2, and without it we need to make an example of people who think bending the rules is fine now that there's nothing to stop them. Show the world that these things don't work, and they will eventually stop cropping up.
I pretty much just paraphrased iNControL there. Whoops.

Oh, I'd pay to watch an interview of him by HotBid! Please make it happen!
|
Obviously they're aware and they're going to find a method in fixing this.
They cannot let a big e-sports game get ruined by these type of players..
I just hope they will update us and whether if they found something to stop this type of thing.. because it's not good for the community
like LoL where people were abusing mastery bug, most of you prob wouldn't know this but they fixed it pretty fast and perma ban them.
Maybe blizzard should find methods and perma ban them and make them buy the game again if they want to play... This will not be tolerated
What is worth having people who don't deserve ____ to get such privilege.. This is just going to spread and make people do the same thing if they can get that far by cheating
|
well he shouldn't show up, unless he wants to provoke someone in hopes of getting beaten up and sue them lol. Guess the old how to handle cheaters doesn't work on such a great event. Would be funny to read the news though "Cheater got all his technical possession destroyed after being invited to an event."
|
Maybe someone can do an interview with him while there? Would be funny to put him on the spot.
|
And we thought inviting LS was bad, ha. Blizz should release a micro transaction AH program and ladder, Activision would be interested in that for sure. In the getting money part that is. To be fair I think they have good AH all ready, they are just saving it for Legacy of the Void.
|
I think he shouldn't even be invited. It should be canceled
Most cases the actual person "The cheater" stated in this thread would come out and speak up.
|
Saw the first video and just laughed. How on earth can he defend himself against that.
|
Well done to SniXSniPe for highlighting this issue. We need the root out these hackers, they are a blight on the SC2 scene and make a mockery of all those players who have spent a lot of genuine time and effort on this game.
Interestingly, according to a preliminary bracket for the NA WCS qualifiers, Idra may face Spades in the first round and the winner could face Zack!
|
Wasn't one of blizzards main arguments for battle.net 0.2 was that they would be able to detect and deal with hackers officially and better rather than having the vigilante justice from bw.
|
I hope he reads this and wises up.
Maybe he'll admit it and forfeit his spot.
