this was brought up on reddit and it really grinds my gears when i hear stuff like this. but even if JP agrees with him, the least he could do (as ive seen djwheat do, which i appreciate) is play devils advocate so that they can actually argue their point rather than just state it and act smug because no one disagrees with them.

i dont get how people map hack(aka cheat), or get put in jail or whatevers new this week and yet we, the wider community, get called the embarrassing ones? how the sc community treats its celebs is no different to how fans of any sport treat the famous people, theres tides of public opinion, there oustings of individuals, fairly or unfairly, and theres people who with an emotional point of view maybe dont consider the facts before they speak out. this happens eeeeeeeveeeerywhere how have the celebrities managed to convince us that we are the toxic ones in this community? when they are the ones smoking and swearing on a show that will be seen by kids. fucking magic trick i tell you
now before i get another twenty replies saying omg who cares about smoking, id like to just let people know they are missing the point. the fact is, the most popular people in our community are just as bad if not worse than anyone posting either here or on reddit in terms of 'being embarrassing' so when we get yet another interview where the people that we built up shit back down on us because we dont behave exactly how they want, i want them to get called out on that shit because it pisses me off to no end.
every single pro that 'makes it big' in this community is so two faced, they go from loving reddit or whatever for building them up to shitting all over the average poster or viewer for not loving every little detail, fuck those guys.
I think you are overreacting. You take one part of the interview. But in the entire interview he had gave many other reasons, but to some up:
- He does not need the forums for feedback, he has other methods - He enjoys fan interaction on events, in real life, people are much nicer in RL. - He does not have the time available to go through forums - SC2 is only part of his life, and not his whole life - He does not enjoy going through forums (forums not mature enough), and he does not look for a community feel online, but in real life. This was also clear from him not enjoying MMOs, it was pretty easy to see that he is not one of those people who lives his live in the virtual world.
Why would JP start an argument with him, when it is a personal opinion? Should he say, no Tasteless, it is wrong that you think that! You should like the forums!
(by the way you kind of proof his point, with this witchhunt like post of yours )
i dont think witch hunt means what you think it means
because i disagree with tasteless on one topic, because i dislike the direction real talk is going (even though i like the show and tasteless overall) im somehow on a witch hunter to what? oust him from his job at gom? i dont know what you are accusing me of here
and you say im overreacting
Just relisten the interview, reread my post, reread your own. Then think if you have reached a valid conclusion. He is not hating on the community, he loves the community when he meets people on events. What he does not enjoy is reading through online forums. Apparantly you see this as an act of betrayal...
noooo i dont care that he doesnt visit TL or reddit thats his choice, i dont care. what i hate is how he, and others get to sit there in 'public' and take a massive dump on us calling us embarrassing. sure he may like the 1% of SC fans who have the money to go out to korea to see the GSL live, thats nice for them and him. but 99% of people will only ever 'interact' with the community through reddit, and him calling people who post there embarrassing is a dick move.
so if hes gonna sit there and defend idra in 1 moment saying, oh its ok, because offline hes a nice guy. but then call the online mob persona of the fans embarrassing i want JP to call him on his bullshit and say that he needs to defend his opinion better.
You are acting like an embarrassing member of this community right now. Do you not realize this kind of mindless whining about completely unimportant things is exactly what he was talking about? Jesus, man, way to be the whiny internet armchair critic he was lambasting in the first place. I'm sure the more likely response from JP reading your post would be a head shake instead of what you imagine will be some kind of revelation for him.
oh ok, disagreeing with people is whining and.... wait i dont even know what you mean by armchair critic. because im not famous i cant dislike famous people or even their opinions? i dont even know how to respond.
JP can disagree with me if he wants, i dont know what else i can say about that, but how about you let him decide what he thinks rather than try and score cool guy internet points by talking for him.

the irony, it burns.
Maybe you should use some basic logic and realize he's read the forums in the past to reach his conclusion, and that's why he chooses to not go to them anymore? But of course nothing about your senseless whining has been logical in the first place. Stop making this community look worse by being the crybaby incarnate.

I think you're looking into things a little too much. He says he doesn't read forums anymore, he used to. I'm sure he reads things linked to him at times and encounters posts like yours. Forums and reddit aren't something he seeks out to read as a regular part of his life but that doesn't mean he smashes his monitor and runs from the room screaming when he does find himself on a forum.

and i think you are reading in to what i said too much, if i had a huge problem with a slightly ironic statement i wouldnt refute it with 4 words involving the phrase "it burns". youre the one reading in to his exact reddit and TL habits from a few off hand comments about not reading forums.

This is the problem. Its people who want to "Legitimize" e-sports or somthing when this is a gaming community!! Sry bro but this is for a game thats rated T anyways so kids shouldent be watching.
What are they supposed to do about people like u? Cater to you because your so easily annoyed and offended when they are devoting thier time on giving back to the community? No they would probably care less and preferred that you gtfo.
Of course JP agrees with him, look at what happend to "State of the Game". I don't think any of the pillars really want to do it anymore. Get some perspective. Edit - This is why we can't have nice things.

Allright Turdburgler I'll lay it down simple. It's ok to have a different opinion than someone. We humans are a diverse set and it's bound to happen, it can be good. What isn't good is randomly coming up to strangers and telling them, "I think you've lost your passion." or "Stop portraying females in this way." or "Run your show how I want it run." This stranger would just tell you to fuck off and share that they never asked for your opinion. Now, you are not doing this are you? No, you're just venting your opinions on a forum. Fair enough. But the reason Tasteless and others don't like the forum culture is because it feels like asking a bunch of 15 year-olds how to run their life/show/appearance. They don't care what you think. Good for them, I think there is great wisdom in only listening to people who've proven they care about you - not everyone that has a keyboard and internet access.

ill just copy what i wrote on reddit.
i dont get how people map hack(aka cheat), or get put in jail or whatevers new this week and yet we, the wider community, get called the embarrassing ones? how the sc community treats its celebs is no different to how fans of any sport treat the famous people, theres tides of public opinion, there oustings of individuals, fairly or unfairly, and theres people who with an emotional point of view maybe dont consider the facts before they speak out. this happens eeeeeeeveeeerywhere how have the celebrities managed to convince us that we are the toxic ones in this community? when they are the ones smoking and swearing on a show that will be seen by kids. fucking magic trick i tell you
now before i get another twenty replies saying omg who cares about smoking, id like to just let people know they are missing the point. the fact is, the most popular people in our community are just as bad if not worse than anyone posting either here or on reddit in terms of 'being embarrassing' so when we get yet another interview where the people that we built up shit back down on us because we dont behave exactly how they want, i want them to get called out on that shit because it pisses me off to no end.
every single pro that 'makes it big' in this community is so two faced, they go from loving reddit or whatever for building them up to shitting all over the average poster or viewer for not loving every little detail, fuck those guys.
No they would probably care less and preferred that you gtfo.
you havent articulated any input, or added to the discussion in any way. you just sound angry at me for having a different opinion to you. i dont know what to say so i guess ill just stop posting, ive said what ive got to say but there cant be a discussion if people are going to post like this. i never once said i was offended and i dont know who you think you are quoting when you say legitimise esports because thats not what im talking about.
And you seem to be misinformed. SoTG almost shutdown because JP basically wrote a big Fuck you post on TL saying how ungrateful the community is and that they just criticize everything he does so why bother. Im not sure how you managed to remain arrogant of the past few months but I dont need to be the one that explains it to you.
Especially talking about his business ventures with Artosis... really serious and interesting stuff right there. Sleeper cell nerds, life being a chess game, Tastosis moniker... good shit right there.
Tasteless is right, Reddit is really the armpit of the internet. All that shit they pulled with Razer and Quantic was ridiculous. More power to Tasteless for not wasting his time.

It's not their job to please people like you so deal with it.

He is interviewing high profile people that, believe it or not, a LOT of other people really enjoy listening too (tasteless, artosis, dj wheat, 2gd). If this is the only thing you have to say about it then just go watch something else.

Tasteless aside, I didn't see the show, but I very much agree on the devil's advocate thing as an interviewer's task. There is nothing more boring then guys reassuring each other of being right on screen. It feels staged and doesn't go anywhere. People need a challenge to shine.

They are not ''high profile'' for me and i think they and the community made there selves too important.
Give me a good ingame camera guy and i'm happy. I don't care for tasteless doing ''comedy''. I mean i got all 9 seasons of Seinfeld on dvd, i'll put that on if i want comedy, no?
I appreciate competitive rts games and i think it would be nice if this show/jp got in the mind of some of those competitive gamers. And preferably lesser known/vocal ones. I know JP would have to work harder to get a good hour out of them instead of asking his friends for storys he already knows like he's doing now. But it would be something else instead of more of the same.

No, but it would seem that having a job whose "promotion" is reliant on positive branding and community well being would be predisposed to treat entertainment positions as successes when community support is high.
Since SC2 seems reluctant to let new casting talent into the scene, it's only a matter of time before we all start disliking commentators when they fail to innovate and achieve the same successes they once had. Not saying this is the case for Tasteless, I suppose a better example would be HD and Painuser in this regard.

Maye some others agree with him and maybe JP is interested in feedback and ideas and not exclusively in praise. The poster wasn't flaming anyone, he just said what he'd like to see on the show.
