I think he means it will take a large chunk out of the regular ranked ladder players. I'm not sure if I believe it or not.. it seems those still active in the ladder are fairly 'hardcore' and want to be ranked. I see the unranked MM really catering to the 'ladder anxiety' people who have already given up on the normal ranked matches. We will see though!

Mostly that he is making a baseless assumption about something that doesn't exist yet.

That's not facetious, I am happy they're being added but I'm far to cynical to start doing backflips about it. It's a bandage on an amputated leg. The diablo 3 release blunders aside, if you think they're going to get pvp out by dec 2012, you're being criminally naive. Jay Wilson was interviewed as saying they expect 'late 2012', well if 'late 2012' is the same as '3rd quarter 2011' was for release, we're looking at mid 2013. Actually, he's been quoted as a few months after release, and who's to say that the features aren't coming to WoL users either? Because the wording from the blog post seems to imply they are. If it takes them a while to add PvP, so be it. I would rather get a good system than an incomplete system. Either way, it's been confirmed for a free patch, and not expo content so my point still stands. you're wrong, you're using outdated information. "Jay Wilson said: "The PvP system is still in a period of change and there is no definite schedule for its launch. It is hoped PVP mode will be in the game by the end of 2012. Of course I am not quite sure about that." http://d3guyz.com/?q=node/1573And I would argue that continually releasing games with less features then their predecessors is fundamentally wrong. You may want everything to be 'good' and not an 'incomplete system' but wouldn't you consider WoL and D3 'incomplete' since they didn't have all the features they were 'meant' to have? :boggle: That is out of date translated material, that's from his press tour in Asia. He later confirmed in many interviews that they plan to have it out much earlier. Either way, I feel that D3 has plenty more features than D2, and I feel it will be a complete game. They haven't charged extra for content patches in the past, I don't expect them to in the future.
I agree, I have no problems with D3. PvP is not even a feature I or any of my friends care about. For their audience, PvP is a good feature to hold back and get it out there when they have it right.
And by audience, I mean that millions of people who will buy D3 and never go to TL or any website like it.

What i would love to see is a better laddersystem with the mmr showing.

Blizzard never said these were going to be HoTS-only additions, just that they were going to be released at similar time.
Please, quit bitching about $40 for features when they never said they'd be exclusive to HoTS (and I HIGHLY doubt they will be).

What is up with you guys. Blizz never released any kind of "DLC". You buy a Blizz game and you get the whole package. New features where ALWAYS avaiable to everyone, not just to people buying an addon. Take a look at WoW for example, or at Warcraft III. Yeah, you need the addon for the new areas or units or heroes. But you always got all the system tweaks they made, regardless of you owning the addon or not.
Why should it be different this time? >.>

Looking forward to what they add for the clan support. Other stuff sounds great too!

That's what they said about WoL 'features'... so we have every right to bitch if its not in there from day 1.

I guess you could, but I don't remember these features being promised at all. I remember them promising really good match making and no drop hacking, which I got. The new features, not so much.

F-i-n-a-l-l-y!
I hope all these "special features" are released in time and the implementation of features will not be stretched over 24 months...

Yes, delivering a new game to complete a beta game. And milking out people' wallet, and people still don't understand it, how fools they are, they just trust in Blizzard..... This guy is so right. Blizzard will probably implement LAN mode on LoV so all the people will buy it. Seriously, I really don't like this kind of business model.

No customer likes it, yet it flushes money into the company's hands. That's why they do it.

It's amazing to me how many people are trying to compare WoL to Brood War. This might be news to some of you, but Brood War was an EXPANSION SET. To all those calling WoL an "incomplete game," the same could be said of SC1 (pre-BW). So many people think they're entitled to everything. SC2 is a new game with a new code base. This means that features implemented in BW couldn't just be tossed into SC2. They have to all be re-made from scratch. There are plenty of valid criticisms of how Blizzard is doing business and making games nowadays, but at least they still support their games after release. This is still far better than most companies out there.
Some of you remind me of those people who get a new car for their birthday only to whine and yell at their parents because it's not a Ferrari. Grow up.

Wait, your telling me that programing that Blizzard did in 1998 cannot be directly ported into a game from 2010? You mean that all the features they built up over time cannot lifted and dropped with minimal effort? Are you telling me that a game that was based on sprites and an internet that was based on dial up connections might be simpler than a more modern game and its net code?
Because sir, that sound far to logical to be true.

I am so happy, thanks for the initiative blizzard all of us appreciate it. Well done

On the unranked matchmaking system:
If anything, this will kind of "purify" the ladder of people who only ladder because it's easy to find someone with equal skill. I forsee an exodus of people at most skill levels leaving the ladder. This will result in just those who want to "ladder" in the ladder competing against other people who care and want to "ladder".
I like it. It will make the ladder MORE competitive because most people will practice builds on the unranked system. Then they will only bring builds that have been practiced and refinded to the ladder.
