Thats a lot of stuff to just add to a game and expect it to work. Its much easier to just add them into an expansion and use the people beta testing to insure that everything is working well and not breaking stuff.

Oh god, made me laugh so hard. But all of this is really awesome, pretty much everything i´ve been waiting for. Seem´s like they´re listening after all.

Can any professional software developers/game developers comment?
Basically I'm curious how long it would have delayed WOL if these were implemented before release. Development is very hard. A game is "content" locked almost six month or more before release. This means all the features that they have in the game are locked in. The rest of the time is spent polishing the game and making it super crisp. SC2 may be an exception when it came to the multiplayer units and balance, but the B.net features were likely locked in 6-10 months before release. Adding new ones would have required more polishing and bug testing, which increases the QA time(quality assurance). The more features they add, the more time they have to spend testing them all. I don't know how much time these features would have added, but it would have been a noticable amount, since they were focused on getting the ladder working and a world wide launch. You're a paralegal, not a software dev > Thanks for the insight. So if we wanted some medium-big feature upon seeing the HOTS beta, I guess it likely won't make it in due to logistics.
I am a paralegal, but I read up on game development and follow how most games are made. It is a process most people don't know about. Like, did you know one of the hardest features of any patch is making it install correctly?
I don't know how Blizzard sets up their stuff, but I am sure Bnet is seperate from the SC2 dev team and they make features to fit all Blizzard games. I will assume that some of the Bnet features will come out at release or right after. After all, when they release HotS, they want to make sure it that Bnet does crash because they added in a ton of new features and 1000 times more people are signing on.

Wow, I see that they have addressed over 90% of my concerns. Allowing for a re-game off of a replay actually is a good half way solution to not providing land. Allowing tournaments to replay games that end abruptly. Oh wow, this is going to be amazing!!
Also, I feel like clan support will be great for mid-range players like me that want to join a team and practice a bunch to get better but don't have any practice partners right now (mostly for time reasons on my part).
Awesome!!! Thanks so much for listening blizzard!

Really like these updates, duh. They could have still mentioned the bad custom game system you know and I dont know why noone uses the chat channels, but I guess they are bad? even though I dont see anything wrong with them.
Now make the game harder dam it!

What? No way. A company building things that people want as an attempt to increase sales? That NEVER happens, does it?
Seriously, though, giving the community everything that it's been asking for is a GOOD thing. Having to pay for it is fine, because realistically it's an expansion everyone would have gotten anyway (assuming you care about the game at all, of course) and people getting paid to work on cool stuff is much better than if these things were just ignored outright.
The only thing that bothers me a little bit is that I have a feeling some things such as clan support have already been finished for quite a while - even as much as a year ago. But better late than never!

This restores quite a bit of my lost faith in Blizzard. I was not going to buy HoTS as I refused to give more money to a company that blatantly ignores us, but now I think I'll buy .. even though I mainly play custom games these days.

Awesome news, hope Blizz doesn't take too long to release these changes.
:D

sounds like they've listened to the community for a change, now if we could just get shared replays...
|
You guys realise that unranked matchmaking is already in the game right? Just goto custom games and choose a 1v1 map....

ah. the sweet sound of my silk panties sliding down my legs.
do not disappoint blizzard.

That's listed in the features, is it not? or am I missing the joke?? :D

While I appreciate that Battle.net 2.0 might soon cease being a pile of awful shit, I'm still disappointed that it's taken two years. Too many of these things should have been in the game to begin with, and at best are being promised "at or around launch". I'll believe it when I see it, I'll be happy when it happens, and I'll feel really fucking stupid if I send these jackasses another 40 bucks just to get "soon" again.
|
Well I'll just sit right here and see what they actually add into the game when it comes out. Still things that we should have had since release, but better late than never I guess. Wonder how much of those things we are going to have to pay for

Praise the lord. Blizzard isn't deaf.

I'm in disbelief. They are actually coming through. THANK YOU.

maybe they just said "you want your SC2 in Korea? fix your Bnet2.0 first!" ^^ I think this is actually pretty accurate. some more love for this?
More likely that some of the developers have been busy creating content for D3. You know, the proactive battle.net team creating synergies across games, and on good days allowing play across regions too :p
