Global play is nice and all but im a little sad since i bought extra copies for different regions You should be happy that you won't have to buy extra copies for HotS. Having WoL doesn't mean you can play HotS

@ImGonnaRideYou the community is already split. Go around and ask how many actively ladder this days... An unranked matchmaking system would allow people to actually practice. Today it's pretty hard to practice certain builds or certain aspects of your play (especially in the lower leagues) if you have to be constantly aware of some cheese, which because one is in a lower league, makes it that much more powerful, turning the laddering experience into an ordeal...

On the unranked matchmaking, pseudo rules of how to play (ie. no rush, no "cheese", etc.) will develop and we will reach a point where ladder players will completely avoid unranked because he/she can crush the average unranked player and the unranked players will completely avoid ranked ladder because he/she simply cannot keep up with the ranked style of play.
Might as well include matchmaking for fastest, monobattles, and desert strike.
Really don't see that happening.
I think that both will be used. One for ranking, one for experimentation. In WoW, for example, unranked BGs have stayed popular and competitive, just open for experimentation. I see NO problem with that.

Love the features but also would like Automated Tournaments, Detailed Statistics, and something similar to LoL Spectator Mode.

indeed, this will only help players with ladder nervousness to play more and become better, therefore reducing said nervousness, and it's a great way for people to try new strategies vs other players without the need for searching custom games. IMO this will only help the evolution of the metagame of starcraft 2 and it's players.

Pleasantly surprised! Now, I they just need to improve the game itself...

For this to work, they need to implement some sort of decay where you drop in rank/league if youre inactive for too long. Right now what a lot of people do is they play their absolute safest or cheesiest until they get the badge they want, then they stop playing ladder for the season and only play custom games for fear of getting demoted.

I know they might as well cancel HotS and end SC2.
We don't even have a beta yet and you are proclaiming the end of the known universe

It's official, battle.net will finally reach its alpha release!
Kidding aside, this is great news. Though the pessimist inside me keeps thinking that they're gonna charge you for global play. Or put some other kind of restriction on it. But we'll see.

Thank you, League of Legends...

...finally!
This is great news, and one of the things we should remember from this is how important the community's desires/complaints are to Blizzard, provided we are vocal enough about it. We'd do well to remember this when future issues come up.
Also considering how much of an afterthought (relative to most of the HotS development) this is, and given how it's for the community and pretty ambitious for their Bnet team, I wouldn't get your hopes up too high, they'll probably very minimalistic features to appease the community more than the kind of fully featured design that some moba games are seeing (dota2/hon). Also global play will probably suffer the same kind of lag issues players already face who've bought multiple copies.

Anyway, congrats to Blizzard for only taking two years to announce features that have been standard in games for decades. . .
Meh, I shouldn't be negative, this is good news for everyone. :D

Still can't cahgne names -___-

this is absolutely incredible. well done blizzard. you didn't only fix/add one or two community needs but also the biggest "wants" too. well done blizzard!!!

It seems like blizzard at some point decided the community knows what they are talking about and started giving the people what they want. Better maps pools, dropped game fix, clan support, easier matchmaking for none ladder were my biggest complaints as well as many other people's as well glad to see it coming together.
