Edit: As of june 3rd, the team seems to be informally and (for now) unofficially disbanded. Since the drama seems to have begun on this thread and not in a new one, I'd just like to say that even though I posted this announcement, I am not affiliated with NOM management and can't provide answers to all the questions.
Please don't use this thread to add to the drama, it really doesn't belong here.
NOM-Gaming is an israeli-based esports organisation, founded in 2009. With its israeli starcraft2 lineup created almost a year ago, NOM has been working on developing the israeli scene, and has competed against other teams in the israeli community. With very strong sponsorships, NOM was struggling to make good use of its resources, given the very small size of the israeli community.
Today, NOM-Gaming is proud to announce that it has finally taken the next step and expanded its reach into Europe, effectively acquiring 7 European players and an additional israeli player.
"When we first considered adding European players to our lineup, I saw it as a professional way to advance as an organisation which would open up a lot of possibilities for the future. It is important for me to emphasize that I have hope in each and every one of our new players, who were recruited on account of their potential and professionalism. I will do my best to help my players develop, such that we may one day see NOM-Gaming competing at the highest of levels."
- Shahar "frAsE" Meir, NOM-Gaming Manager
"I'm very grateful for this opportunity. Team NOM.ESET holds the values of a true esport team that I would represent. I will give it my all to make the team proud and produce the results in lans and tournaments that I know I can deliver with the right support. Thank you NOM.ESET for this opportunity! "
- Mattias "Naugrim" Ottosson
With a small lineup of israeli players, we have already competed at major events around the world, including ESWC, MLG, and GSL qualifiers. Having more than doubled our manpower in a week, we are very excited to see where we will find ourselves in the future.
You can find many of the players streaming their games regularly on Teamliquid.
I'll admit I have no clue who any of these guys are except naugrim and I think I've seen rmdx's name pop up a few times in the European cups still good luck to everyone involved and I hope to see more out of this team.
as a former NOM player, i advice to all players to get as far as possible from this team. we r talking about a manager that dnt fulfill his promisses. never. if u can read hebrew, this is one of many topics about NOM on the israeli comunity: http://www.zergling.co.il/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3065
i wish NOM nothing. i do wish the players wnt folow promisses. there r alot of better teams, and more improtant, better owenrs.
as a former NOM player myself, I'd also advise to all players (including the new ones) to be wary of this team. They have yet to pay most of their EX-players their promised salaries, haven't payed tournament winnings to a multitude of players (some ranging from more than half a year ago), and have been cited (with proof) to have made racist remarks.
Ignoring all these (though heinous) facts, they also have players who have been caught multiple times stream cheating, map hacking, and match fixing I advise all players to steer clear of their tournaments, their players and any and all activities done by NOM.
I'm also happy being a part of NOM. It has some of the best players in my country, plus a lot of other good players of high master and grandmaster level. I can improve a lot by practicing with my team mates. I think this team has a lot of potential to improve in the future and gather great players from around europe.
For you to get kAra to leave ESC to join you is pretty impressive. Hope to see this team in team leagues and big tournaments. you have the potential, don't waste it good luck!
Tbh i don't understand this kind of teams, the only known play is naugrim... which is someone who is really good but is yet to show tournament results, and the rest is 9 unknown. Can they afford to play 9 players full time ? If they are not playing full time and are also yet to show results there is little hope they will do anything... and if they actually afford to pay them full time, how comes they don't try to go for a "bigger" name, im pretty sure that the money put into the non naugrim player could have bought them 2 close to top tier player. Add to that the fact i see about 5 people commenting on the fact that they don't pay a cent, including one of the guy that seems to be listed in the roster. Dunno about you but this seems like a smelly business to me, and even if its not... i doubt they will make a breaktrough with the line up they have.

Is it me or is the drama starts quicker and quicker every-time a roster is announced ? Two players announced today had already left the very same day ?!
Otherwise I do believe Naugrim is a very talented player and I expect him to show his potential soon. I also enjoy watching kAra's unorthodox play, so good luck to both of them and to NOM also if it's not again a phony team...

Clearly two things are not matching here. Either teams keep promising players unsustainable things, or many players have higher expectations than are reasonable or possible for teams of their calibre. Probably some combination of both. If you're a team that speaks honestly to mid-level players about what they can expect, you'll probably lose out to a team that promises them the moon. Either way, I feel like this happens all the time now, it's insane.

IMO it seems that as SC2 gets bigger and bigger, more and more people are trying to get their slice while offering false promises and even flat out lies to attain it. How can 2 ex players, 2 current players, and a tournament winner (arew) all have negative things to say and not have that be the fault of the team itself, and its current operations.
I really hope Naugrim reads the thread and takes a moment to really think if he wants to join the team. I really enjoy him as a player in both sc2 and in bw when he was active, and would really hate to have him come into a very negative situation, if thats what this ends up being.
The problem is that a lot of teams want to establish a SC2 roster but SC2 players have become really really expensive. A LOT of random grandmasters you will never see going far in any big tournament demand salaries between 100-200 (some from NOMs roster probably even more) a month.
So SOME teams start to trick the players in order to solve this problem. Its the worst way possible of course because this hurts every team with a sustainable business.

So why would the teams trick the players? A team like that can't function for longer than a month or two?.. I just dont see what the teams will gain by doing this kind of stuff.

Yeah, but I feel that the teams who promise only what they can give will end up in a better position. Even if they can't give a lot.

Well, NOM didn't disappoint me yet or he just didn't give me enough promises . Still I hope our manager will be more trustworthy and won't let such things happen in the future.

That's from the side, if you talk to him each day, he's quite a nice guy. He introduced me to the clan in the first place and I'm the most friend with him there.

That's a really good point there. For example I'm a 1500 point master and probably gm next season, and I face mid gms on ladder in more than one third of my games, still because mid-low gms are actually not that good at all and can't win most tournaments since either they get beaten by top gms and pro players, either they lose to players to similar or lower skill level by getting unlucky and just by the game design dying to some cheese they didn't scout and react in time. So if you're kinda good, but in the tournament scene, you basically don't win any game. Then you want money just because you have some skills but you never show them, that's not something worth receiving a good salary. Teams get money from sponsors, and players must show themself in order to advertise the sponsor products and like that they get more salary.
I am very disappointed by the management of the team - in particular - Shahar Meir who is responsible for its sc2 division. In the time period between 17th of May(when kAra left) and 4th of June almost every day I had a little chat with him about his financial obligations to the members of the team. I learned that he is a young person - 17 or 18 years old - so I figured it is ok to have troubles with p@yp@l and bank transfers. Tried to help solving the issue with sending limits by sharing my experience, suggesting alternative ways to send money.
It was all in vain. After a few days of seemingly rational explanations I started to get ridiculous answers e.g. quote "becouse i have big test soon and im not active few days" or "im study and i have bday today so you need somethink important ?" and promises of this sort: "tommorw my futher back from italy and i send the money ok man ?" - that was on 22nd of May.
On 10th of May there was a tournament called Nom.ESET Tournament #1 Europe - kind of announcing tournament. Nice prize pool - 75$,50$,25$ for 1st,2nd and 3rd. The only thing announced, now that I look back was - We are not paying what we promised. Almost a month later - none of the top 3 players(Nerchio, Me, Arew) has received anything.
I am no more part of that team - same for many of the announced on the first page players. The main purpose of my post was to explain the reasons why players leave NOM - it is not because of inactivity, poor performance, bad manner or anything like that but because we were lied to and cheated. The 2nd reason was to make this public and hope for some bad consequences for that team and organization in order to prevent others from treating their players this way. The last one is to share my intention to contact the sponsors of the team and let them know what is happening - if anyone has ideas who to contact(more specific) besides eset-israel or would like to translate to hebrew I would appreciate a PM.

The problems with this team were well known in our small community before they signed Naugrim and Giantt. Unfortunately because this information wasn't available in english for those players, and because no one bothered to inform them they were misled. The "leader" of the team is just a kid under 18 years old so it's not surprising that it turned out this way. This reflects badly on our community, but it is in-fact just a small fraction of it.

No offence, but hebrew isn't really commonly spoken language, maybe translating some stories instead of linking to them would help people more. Well, next time at least.
I'm so glad to see this happening. While accusing nom's manager for unfulfilled promises Me and my friends were attacked by the entire Israeli community, and especially by 2 ex nom players- blight and Plato ( aka hoolbaris) . We were accused for being gold diggers while Nom's management was using us. I can only feel sorry for the non Israeli players who joined this joke clan. Good luck in Your gaming careers!!!
The team leader of NOM, Shahar "frAsE" Meir is not even willing to pay money for the tournament winners. I'm contacting him and he's invisible at skype, but online and simply ignoring people, should never trust in those guys.

I was running a team on similar level as this lineup. Some of the players had been around for a while and knew being offered 50-200 euro a month from unknown orgas like this was pointless because 1) the money paid was still basically nothing and 2) they would most likely not ever even see that money. Then there was players who were easily tricked into signing contracts with these orgas and then ended up having no team after a couple of months and back in a worse position than they were in playing for my team without sponsors.
It's extremely hard to run amateur/semi-pro teams when people who are around GM level have higher hopes and there's no good middleground with small orgas who actually have some cash they can provide or even small things like LAN support. Eventually we just gave up with our team and tried to get those few talented players we had left into known orgas because there was nothing else we could do to save them.
After taking a break from the game for half a year after our team had disbanded I really expected the semi-pro scene to have evolved but apparently things are still just as bad. I'm hoping mainly the Swedish and German scenes will be able to build a better market so more players in the end will have it easier to focus on playing the game and improve. We really need it outside of Korea with the spread of living locations and no team houses where people can practice. Otherwise I'm sure we will keep falling behind.
