Unless you are gay, or mentally handicapped.
or french-canadian
I personally think that whole situation is a complete overreaction. Words change their meaning, all the time. If someone uses a word today that has been used 50 years ago, it does not necessarily mean the same. In fact i think if you would have talked 20 years ago like we do now, every second sentence wouldve offended someone because of some offensive word in it.
Of course it's not the smartest think to use the "n-word" , but calling someone a racist based on the use of it just makes no sense, and i think its not a reason to kick someone out of a team, especially if the person apologized.

Is that racism? Nope. How is it not? If he were a different race, we would be treating him differently. Isn't that basically the definition of racism? Nope. User was warned for this post Of course, it is racism. How can you defend the opposite ? Two people saying the same thing are treated differently because of the color of their skin.

This sucks I really enjoyed orb's casting. I hope he can get his foot back in the door in the future.

Its funny because he said his friend was on his account to totalbiscuit

Idra calls people fag and retard all the time... I find these equally offensive.Alex is going to have to give Greg the boot. Wonder where he'll go next!?!?!
Since firing Orb was a Pr stunt anyways, your going to have to save face by exhuming yourself of the title hypocrit. The people demand all members who have said something a group of people can find offensive to be removed from your prestigious team. Assuming you desire to remain known as prestigious

What Catz said on his stream was probably the best way to put it. I doubt he's a racist, but he sure is an idiot.

sooo... insulting everyone who cares about this issue? Doesn't matter if you weren't offended, if the community has a problem with it then that's that. Seems like you're just defending him because of personal relations. 1st level thinking.

I actually have no relationship with orb whatsoever, and saying people were thinking on 1st level isn't insulting, it's just saying things how they are, they're the same type of people who get really offended whenever u joke around with them, even as a friend, learn to not be sensitive, it will be very useful in your entire life

Too PC of an decision for me.

I'm glad he apologized but he should have owned up to it in the first place. Lost a lot of respect from me for trying to cover it up and having it debunked later.

I don't quite understand the discussion about how one can use words and simply ignore their definitions. I understand words can change their definitions over time, but this is not one of those cases. Like most internet kids, I grew up using faggot and nigger as insults/expressions of rage online, but my intent does not disconnect them from their connotations and cultural meaning. In fact, my choice to use such words reinforces the original meaning behind these words BECAUSE I chose them as my insults.
In regards to Orb's situation, he should've admitted it right away instead of trying to get away with it, typical case of SORRY because CAUGHT.

I can't believe this actually has be explained but since so many of you are desperately confused:
You're applying an extraordinarily simplistic, broad and crude definition of racism. According to your definition if a white person checked off 'African-American' on a form you couldn't correct them, because technically that would be treating them differently. It's a laughably strict understanding of the word which no sane person would ever use.
The example which started this is also absurd. A black person would never call someone a 'nigger' at all, let alone as an insult. And yes, there is a massive distinction between 'nigger' and 'nigga' so please don't respond along that ridiculous line of reasoning.

I agree with their decision to let you go, but I respect you for being a man and apologizing. Good for you! Best of luck sir.

it doesn't mean im homophobic
it means the same thing as fucking retard, fucking moron, fucking twat, fucking (insert insult)
in my world I learned that people are rarely if ever serious when they are insulting someone while they're very agitated or emotionally affected

Hay hay hay everyone needs to calm down about Idra's BM. It's not like he tells them to literally go kill them self. And call them faggot. And nigger. It is not like Idra is being treated differently because he is the most popular player (albeit not the best) and brings in loads of money and attention to EG. That would be impossible because Alex already said he wags the NO-NO finger at Greg every time he uses profanity on a stream that represents and advertises EG. This is clearly justice for Orb and he should have known that just because other sponsored figures in this community get away with the same offense on a regular basis does not mean he would. Good job everybody I hated watching one of my favorite casters and now because of you I may not do so again. (or at least with the same frequency)

On March 10 2012 08:24 ReignFayth wrote: yeah when i call people fuckin gay or fag
it doesn't mean im homophobic This has been gone over maybe a thousand times in this thread and the others:
'Gay' and 'faggot', although truly quite homophobic, have been accepted as general insults by a large fragment of the population. 'Nigger' has never been accepted as a general insult, it has always been considered extremely racist. Simply because some idiots on the internet now like to throw it around does not mean that it is at all comparable to 'gay' or 'faggot'.
This is very simple: if you say racist things people will rightfully assume you're a racist. You don't get to then say "But I'm not! You guys are wrong!". There is no way for others to truly know what's in your mind. All we can go by is what you say, and Orb says some racist shit. You can't have it both ways, if you don't want people to think you're a racist then don't call anyone a 'nigger' under any circumstance. Besides, what's the loss? There is something deeply wrong with a person if they miss being able to call people 'niggers'. And if it's just a general insult for then why not use one of the other thousand accepted ones?
