I think EG's actions are terribly uncalled for, and pretty damn unfair. Firing Orb for something he said in a ladder game BEFORE he was hired by EG is just ridiculous. Alex's post both saddened me and made me a bit angry. In my opinion it displayed a lack of regard for Orb and who he is as a person. And also completely ignored his great performance and impeccable behaviour after he got hired by EG. And i think that is what should matter the most. Not what he might have said in the past.

Discrimination is real, and it's bad.
However, "hate words" don't exist. "Nigger" is not a hate word. I just said it, was it a hate word then? Nope - It's a word which can be used in a hateful sentence, but can also be used as a regular derogatory label without meaning, like pussy, dick, faggot, idiot, etc. The intention behind it is not necessarily racist, and shouldn't always be treated as such.

Words are nothing without context. If a black person uses "n----r" to another black person in a friendly manner(which happens all the time), it is neither discriminatory nor hateful.

Wow... just wow. You begin by stating that there is a distinction between 'nigga' and 'nigger' and then you act as if there isn't one. Those people you're responding to specifically said that you would get attacked for ending it with an 'r', not an 'a'.
I would just like to point out that if we're going to retroactively start firing people off of teams just because of past actions, then there's alot of hilarious shit we can pull up on plenty of players if we just sift through their streams/replays/etc. Idra is the most notable, but plenty of other "mannered" players I'm sure people can find dirt on just to be dicks.
This whole thing is a sham. The guy got mad and said a few bad words PRIOR to his arrival to EG. To retroactively punish him is beyond ridiculous. If you are going to do that, I guess you should kick Idra and HuK off for the amount of BMing they do on the ladder. At worse they should have just informed Orb to not ever do that again, period. No, they just fire the guy outright because of actions well before his arrival at EG. It's Alex's every right to fire him, but I and many other people feel that it's simply wrong because of the situation. What Orb did was not right. However, I don't think you should be able to hold him accountable for actions that he performed when he wasn't apart of team EG.
A lot of people in this topic agree this was an overreaction on EG's part, it seems a vocal minority was once gain succesful in forcing through their opinion and moral values. Hopefully Orb finds a new job as a caster soon.

Walk into your job and start swearing/using racial slurs, see how long you are employed. Especially in a position where you will be representing your entire company. Good luck keeping your job.
I dont want to get into a debate about the psychology of words and their connotative and denotative meanings, but I just think it's one of those things, where if you want to be a representative or voice of an organization you have to remember that in all of your actions, because people will look for moments of weakness or reasons to remove you from your position.
IDK I think it sucks for Orb cause it happened before he had the position, but at the same time Evil Geniuses revolves around maintaining their sponsorships and keeping their sponsors happy, and they cant afford negative attention that might cost them their livelihood.
