Made up stories aren't the same as "unpopular opinions".

im not targeting bonk at all. I'ts just my personal opinion that he needs to keep up with valid strategys. I jsut personally would mute the sound if he was casting. IMO

So Dragon makes a mistake in his life for stream cheating a long time ago and Katu mocks and humiliates him infront of hundreds of stream viewers and now that Katu makes a mistake , he claims he was just trolling the trolls in the stream chat and he wants forgiveness? mmmmmmmkaaayy

Did he ever say he was just "trolling the trolls?" I don't believe I read that anywhere in the main post.
How I read it was, he was trolling and thought the replies in the chat were trolls as well, so thats why he didn't stop, he didn't think he was really hurting anybody.

I dunno what Dragon did in game 2 on antiga was pretty shady. Bunker above the ramp, made a factory right next to his barracks to go reactor hellion, but made siege tanks instead. Dragon was already known as a stream chater, and possible map hacker, so you can't really blame Katu.
I wonder if the korean forums will pick up on this. They sure as hell won't be so forgiving of Dragon.

Grow up everyone. srsly who cares. He made a mistake and apologized, dragon also made mistakes in the past I like dragons' stream but also like katu's casting tbh. Internet drama... gotta love it.

My 10 cents. Spoiler-ed for long response
+ Show Spoiler +My thoughts may be a little jumbled after reading the whole thread so I apologize for that. I was watching Dragon's Stream and Playhem yesterday and must have just turned it off when all this went down. I agree that this is extremely unprofessional and Katu should be punished in whichever why Playhem sees fit. (I guess they decided to cut him from the casting team). Though we aspire to mirror the model and success of the established world of major sports, I like that our community is smaller and has a generally higher caliber of interaction. I think both of these traits allow us to be more involved and maybe a little more forgiving. That being said I don't wish to automatically excommunicate Katu from the Starcraft world because of this mistake. (I'm assuming an apology is incoming) (already happened?). HUGE Props to the crew at Playhem for their response!! The apology was sincere and the offer for IPL4 was above and beyond! I will make sure to tune in to more Playhem just because of this; you have earned my support. I have been watching Dragon's stream for a while and though I was not aware of his past shady behavior in SC2, I am inclined to give him a second chance. He apologized publicly and sincerely for something that was not 100% completely confirmed (though I am not saying he didn't do it). I was also unaware of his promise to not be a progamer... I feel like he was directed to say something like that because of the seriousness of his actions. He joined SlayerS soon after so BoxeR must have had enough reason to recruit him, I won't question the Emperor Regarding his work complications- Since he initially promised not to be a progamer it makes sense for him to explore options in the working world. But Dragon probably didn't think he'd have the opportunity to get into SlayerS, and you can't blame him too much for wanting to take the offer. He obviously has passion for the sport and it would be hard for anyone to completely walk away from what they love. I, for one, am willing to forgive Dragon for his childish mistake and hope to see more of his play in the future. Since there seems to be suspicions surrounding his exit from SlayerS, while I can't claim to know more than the average TL user, it seems like the situation may not have been working for either party and that he may not have been adding as much to the team as they hoped. I don't remember him doing that much as a part of the SlayerS team, unless I missed something significant. But if that is the case, then I can see why the parting of ways was appropriate. Finally, I really look forward to seeing Dragon play at IPL4! To those saying he is a sub-par player who only "trolls" on ladder... He is definitely a consistent GM player and i do enjoy watching his play. The real worth of his stream, IMO, is in the way he does absolutely crazy builds and makes them work against very high level players. I am consistently impressed when he goes 4 CC into mass raven (for example) to beat Master's level players. He always finds some way to make his wonky builds work, using great micro and well-timed scv pulls. I think he will always be a fun player to watch (as evidence by his play in the matches the OP refers to, no less) and that he has a good chance of putting forth a great showing at IPL. Again, SlayerS recruited him for a reason, he has the skills to be a solid player. Sorry for the long post, but thanks for reading :D Kudos to Playhem for their excellent handling of the incident!

I can just about understand Playhem feeling like they need to address this but why is Virgil suspending him from KSL, after all the work and time Katu has done with that tourney without any problems and a lot of the time solo, that seems over the top even for someone who likes to get involved in every bit of drama like Virgil.

What he said wasn't that bad just unprofessional. If it was someone like incontrol casting and he said omg hes stream cheating in a more obvious trolling way no one woulda said shit.

for those who actually thought dragon was stream cheating, dragon was STREAMING with around 3k viewers. This is why katu should never cast another game in his life. People actually are stupid enough to believe his lies. Dragon left slayers on his OWN terms, he also self imposed a ban to tournies himself, no organizations actually banned him.
Katu didnt issue an apology, he made an excuse saying he was just trolling. That is not an apology.

So he jumped before he was pushed, big deal.

Also, paintfive has a good point:

Hello SC2 community,
First and foremost I'd like to apologize once again, and clarify in lieu of some of the comments here, that I did apologize last night not only on stream but I also approached a translator who communicated for me to Dragon my apologies and reasoning.
First I would like to say that trolling is not a professional way to act, though, it can be fun and in person I do it constantly, on air more rarely, but in both cases, I always do it for a laugh and never to tear anyone down. Last night I had a lapse in judgement, thinking at the time that it would be funny to make comments which were inappropriate. I sincerely apologize for making these comments, and any negative impact it had on Dragon.
At the time, I unfortunately did not realize the kind of outrage I was creating. As I'm casting I glance quickly at the chat to look for any audio or video/overlay problems and then get back to the cast. Through these glances I did not appreciate the impact of my comments and thought it to be the usual minority of people who are either trying to stir things up or trolling right back. Bonk who was co-casting tried to warn me as he had his eye on the chat a lot more than I did, however, I did not understand.
So instead of clarifying immediately I just kept it going, unbeknownst to me, simply fueling the fire I had no intention of starting.
Finally, during a game I saw some comments made by co-casters which made no sense, considering the way I thought this was going and then I took a more than 2 second glance at the chat and started to realize what was happening. I was incredulous at first, truly stunned, I couldn't believe the way this had actually gone and I tried to apologize but it was too late. If you watched the video, you'll notice that I am rather calm about what I'm saying and nonchalant about the comments from chat. I really did not understand how South everything had gone.
I hope this clarifies things a bit, though I likely hope in vain. I do want to state that the things I said were from me, and my own mistakes, and that playhem has the best casters I've ever had the privilege to work with, who shouldn't all be painted with this brush.
To all those of you who tried to explain and continued to support I sincerely thank you for your efforts though I was in the wrong for ever even trying to make such jokes.
Yes he did.

Anyone remember what Artosis said about disrespect towards casters by players and fans, and the ultimatum he gave to everyone? Looks like its coming home the casters are finally getting past their breaking point and giving it back.
|
Hope Katu continues on casting. He made 1 mistake, everyone deserves another chance.
And Dragon to IPL4 would be AWESOME. I really hope Dragon accepts the offer :D
|
Playhem should give Katu a promotion - as they say, no such thing as bad publicity. I bet more people will tune in and watch the daily just because of all this manufactured drama.
