I suppose this kind of thing happens when you aren't one of the most experienced, professional casters. Insulting players, especially ones who have a fan base like dragon, isn't a good idea.
|
I'd rather have a caster with honest but unpopular opinions than the opposite. But i guess people can't miss a chance to wield the pitchforks.
|
Dragon was known to cheat and was accused for all sorts of things so I don't like him or will ever like him. But what Katu did was a bit over board by blatantly angering an audience which is the basis of esports. If katu had been more subtle it wouldn't have bothered me but Dragon deserves the respect of a player and we all know that ANYONE can cast as well as Katu...
|
so wait, Dragon went 3 cc vs. roach all in and then was accused of stream cheating in that game?? what?
This is exactly why I hate what "trolling" has become, it now apparently means I don't have to take responsibility for my own actions.
-I played really bad and lost trolling. -I said something inaccurate and stupid/don't know what I'm talking about trolling. -I lost an argument trolling.
I know I'm basically the perfect mark, but it's the back peddle "trolling" that really boils my blood.

Playhem's offer to Dragon is really respectable. Props.

Ok..so..Katu made a stupid mistake, be it purposeful or not. We see professional commentators do the same thing all the time in other sports/radio etc.
Dragon gets an awesome offer..
Katu apologizes and will obviously suffer a pretty big image hit and very likely will never do it again joke or not.
Is there any reason why we need to continue crucifying the guy? Honestly I see no reason to continue to slaughter the guy and "run him out of casting" over a 1 time "MINOR" incident. It isn't like the guy was being racist, sexist or bigoted on the stream.
Move on..

We can't say players are dumb when they make dumb decisions? Why not?
edit: LOL at them offering him a sponsorship for IPL4. There's no way he's going to accept the invite. He doesn't go to events for a reason.

I remember playing Dragon in one of the playhem tourneys and him calling out my strategy based on the timing of my cyber core. His in-game perception can be surreal at times. Calling him a cheater however is a lot more serious, especially if you're officailly casting for another organization.
I think thus far Playhem has handled this excellently.

If there's one thing I hate about the SC2 community, it's the propensity to make a huge amount of drama over a relatively small incident. Katu made a mistake, he apologized, get over it. Apparently, that's not good enough for a lot of people on Reddit who want him to absolutely crucified and banned for life from casting. Just goes to show why SC reddit is the worst community in SC2.

While I don't condone anything Katu did last night and I think he is in the wrong, I think the public backlash is a bit overboard. He screwed up, he knows that. Does he deserve to be punished? That's not for you or anyone other than his employers to decide. If you made a mistake at work after working your ass off for them, for next to nothing would you think you deserved to be fired or get hundreds of threats/hatemail? No you wouldn't. He already posted an apology and many of these people posting in this thread are taking it too personally.
I agree it was unprofessional but I don't believe his career should be over for this.
|
They know they messed up and made efforts to correct it. There is no reason to hang someone out to dry for one mistake that was quickly corrected. People get to make mistake in life and you will be happy to be forgiven when you make one.
|
I simply don't believe that he wasn't at least somewhat serious when he started out.
Whatever. A caster should not use their public position to call a professional a cheater (or blatantly insinuate it either, which is exactly the same) unless they 100% know that they are right. This is not the same as simply insulting someone's play so people need to stop equating it to that, they are utterly different things.
Can't say I was ever a fan, I don't particularly care about Dragon either and I'm hardly furious about the incident, but this kind of thing is hugely unacceptable and people should recognise it for that. Playhem handled it well at least.

Personally if i was dragon, i would come out with a blog post or something that states
"yeah i streamcheated, but so what. i feel theres two types of people in this world. theres bro's who can forgive the past and just wanna see fresh competition with the past ignored, and then theres pathetic whining little pussy ass nigz who are so depressed about their own life that they wanna destroy someone elses life dream just to feel better about their own insecurities that resemble the emotions experienced by the vagina-having-gender
so sukk my balls anyone out there who has a problem with me playing this game. Yeah i cheated, and also fukk you and sukk my dikk.
Heres how i feel about the matter, if the world is gonna be so pussy and pathetic that they are too much of a whining little slut bitch to let me play same games and rape some nigz in tournaments then fine. So im just gonna compete in tournaments now, and if those tournaments decide to be crying nigz with pussies and ban me, then so be it. If i get banned from a tournament, then theres nothing i can do about that, i just wont play in it
However if a tournament actually wants to be a playa with some balls and actually be a arena of competition where people if they got a problem with me can beat me at the game instead of just banning me from it, then props to you i might play in your tournament. "
pretty much i think thats the most alpha way he could handle the situation. post a blog statement like that and just be real about it and state the facts and be like "if ya got a problem with it nigga then sukk my balls"
User was temp banned for this post.

Yeah that was incredibly stupid and I'm now inclined to believe you are as well. Sure am glad dragon isn't that disturbed.

I was just turning on the stream while getting ready for work, I don't want to hear some arrogant casters(who think they understand the game completely) target dragon with small comments here and there the whole time he was playing. Katu was in a bad mood and bonk doesn't understand the game properly.
--- and if nothing was said or there was no reaction, that dude would keep being obnoxious and think that he can keep doing it whenever he is in a bad mood. Its bad for esports.
|
well i started watching yesterday after this happened and i wasent really sure about what happened and i was like people just love drama it cant be that bad. i saw this thread and i was like god more drama, people need to chill out. But after hearing everything he said this is kind of a big deal like you said this is VERY Unprofessional, disrespectful and rude. but please, PLEASE! dont say THEY clearly Bonk wanted to stop but the other guy just wouldnt stop. Blame Katu, not Bonk. Edit the thread please. Ps this is over reacting...

Yes, Katu messed up. That is clear. However, you're targeting Bonk as well and he CLEARLY did not want anything to do with what Katu was saying.

I don't think he was trolling. He sounded like he was being serious. Not only that but afterwards when he said he was just joking, he said that people must just be hating on him and that nothing he said was offensive really. He was just like im sorry you guys hate me. It's not like im going to lose my job over this and if you don't like it then don't watch.
Thats the part I don't like. His follow-up appology(if you can call it that) was very poorly done and was basically just like whatever, people are just hating and I didn't actually do anything wrong.
