the internet is a hate machine. It's the reason why every discussion is considered "flaming and trolling". Differences of opinion cannot exist on the internet without someone crying "troll" or "flame". pitchforks and antagonistic behavior towards people with different opinions and views is the song and dance of the 2010 internet. thats why dragon currently garners this much hate.

noone would have a problem if he was publicly slamming deezer. And what katu said was very vague and actually completely factually accurate, as far as vague insinuations can be. Wrong. He made 2 explicit claims that were false, and im not talking about implying that he was stream cheating. He doesn't even know his facts about the old stream cheat scandal. Of course, if you had read the last couple pages instead of what I assume is just the OP you would realize this. IK watched the video and compared it to historical facts. they match. could you state the explicit claims that you think are incorrect? I've read every page here. Dragons scandal was before he even joined slayers. He was still in werra. Slayers recruited him and he was in the gsl open as practicing partner for boxer. He left slayers 1.2 years later on his own terms, looking for a foreign team. Now people like you who believes what katu says is hurting his chances of landing a team.
See, this is the whole problem. It's not only about the stream cheat 'joke' (if thats what it was..), but his entire rant afterwards that was factually incorrect, yet now there are a bunch of people that think its correct, have a terrible impression of Dragon and most of them will never read this or correct that notion.

Katu didnt issue an apology, he made an excuse saying he was just trolling. That is not an apology. On February 28 2012 23:20 KatuStarcraft wrote: This was posted in the reddit thread, though it will likely get buried so I re-post here.
Hello SC2 community,
First and foremost I'd like to apologize once again, and clarify in lieu of some of the comments here, that I did apologize last night not only on stream but I also approached a translator who communicated for me to Dragon my apologies and reasoning.
First I would like to say that trolling is not a professional way to act, though, it can be fun and in person I do it constantly, on air more rarely, but in both cases, I always do it for a laugh and never to tear anyone down. Last night I had a lapse in judgement, thinking at the time that it would be funny to make comments which were inappropriate. I sincerely apologize for making these comments, and any negative impact it had on Dragon.
At the time, I unfortunately did not realize the kind of outrage I was creating. As I'm casting I glance quickly at the chat to look for any audio or video/overlay problems and then get back to the cast. Through these glances I did not appreciate the impact of my comments and thought it to be the usual minority of people who are either trying to stir things up or trolling right back. Bonk who was co-casting tried to warn me as he had his eye on the chat a lot more than I did, however, I did not understand.
So instead of clarifying immediately I just kept it going, unbeknownst to me, simply fueling the fire I had no intention of starting.
Finally, during a game I saw some comments made by co-casters which made no sense, considering the way I thought this was going and then I took a more than 2 second glance at the chat and started to realize what was happening. I was incredulous at first, truly stunned, I couldn't believe the way this had actually gone and I tried to apologize but it was too late. If you watched the video, you'll notice that I am rather calm about what I'm saying and nonchalant about the comments from chat. I really did not understand how South everything had gone.
I hope this clarifies things a bit, though I likely hope in vain. I do want to state that the things I said were from me, and my own mistakes, and that playhem has the best casters I've ever had the privilege to work with, who shouldn't all be painted with this brush.
To all those of you who tried to explain and continued to support I sincerely thank you for your efforts though I was in the wrong for ever even trying to make such jokes.Yes he did. Bold for serious. I'm not gonna push it and say what I think about his apology because I'll probably get banned. Sure, I'll take it as sincere so long as he doesn't pull this stuff again. Well I can tell you right now it's not very sincere.
From his 'apology': "As I'm casting I glance quickly at the chat to look for any audio or video/overlay problems and then get back to the cast."
From the VOD (@ 04:09:30): "I don't care I'm still reading the chat I'm having so much fun."
In my opinion, he sounds like a total douche in those 5 minutes I listened and this apology doesn't make it much better. You don't apologize with lies, it does not exactly convince me you are actually sorry. Not only does it contain lies, but the only thing he says basically is "I was just joking". Yeah, right.

Getting kind of sick of our community being tolerant of "trolling". Trolling can take many different forms but sometimes it's just unprofessional and bad taste. Katu totally crossed the line into ugly

it doesnt matter how much work a police officer puts in to serve the community. Try shooting an innocent bystander because he was caught stealing from you a year ago, because you thought he looked like he was up to no good. See how forgiving the community is. Of course if he told the community he was just trolling, 5percent of the population will forgive him.

They actually explicitly stated that they were trolling and people still somehow fell for the trolling. Seriously? Someone explicitly states that they are trying to make people mad and then you get really mad? Come on people, it wasn't a big deal. Put away your pitchforks, chill out, learn to take a joke, even if it's a bad or tasteless joke.

this is why you don't get too drunk when your casting =[

Excuse me? what disrespect has Dragon shown Katu? Your argument does not apply here.
Edit- Also to add Artosis was not talking about disrespect from fans at all, but players being rude before setting up a game and he would call out the players. Fans and chat trolls not included.

Honestly let it go you guys are just feeding the fire now by saying "blah blah blah never watching Katu again! blah blah blah dragon wont get a foreign team" if they were interested he'd be on a team now. So stop feeding the fire and let it be now..

He said he was trolling after he got caught as an excuse.

He said that after everyone in chat was getting pissed and you could tell from the fellow casters voice and comments that it was getting serious. During the rant he seems totally serious, saying that its all true and they are living in a fantasy world if they dont believe it. You can tell as the cast goes on that he tries to make light of it, saying he was just joking etc because it was getting serious. He even said that some of the Playhem mods weren't defending him, but were upset as well. Trying to turn it into a joke was the best way for him to get out of it with minimum repercussions, anyone with an ounce of sense can tell thats what happened. Go watch it again, with less bias.

1.2 years later? Or do you mean because he wasn't doing anything with the team? If the latter, its a legitimate reason and not comparable to getting kicked off for cheating.

edit: what an half-arsed excuse. He doesn't regret a thing and even pulls out the trolling card. There was a blog not too long ago on trolling, he should read that.

I wonder if the korean forums will pick up on this. They sure as hell won't be so forgiving of Dragon. it was indeed quite weird that dragon suddenly decided to make a techlab on his factory instead of a reactor...
The bunker was even stranger. Why would he build it on top of the ramp and not in his nat? The bunker starts just as the Roach warren completes.
Either way what Katu did wasn't anything outrageous. I think the community should forgive him. Can't blame the guy for accusing a cheater as a cheater.

You do realize that him and the rest of the party only followed it up as him trolling to get him out of the muck? If you go by his tone and what he said during the cast, it's kind of obvious he wasn't trolling at first. He actualy sounded like he had some grudge against Dragon, for being a cheat in the past? IDK but Katu generally sounded like he wanted to bash him there and then.

Wow, I enjoy Katu's casting, but this is crazy. Glad to see that he's quick to apologize though.
Dragon fighting... =(

Boy, thats a great attitude. Once a cheater always a cheater? People never change or reform right? Let me guess, you support the death penalty too?

It's quite easy to stream cheat even while you are streaming so I don't really mind the casters having their own opinions. I'm going to continue watching Playhem & Katu because it is quite entertaining.
