They had four of the best players in Korea on their roster (MVP, Nestea, Losira and Happy), they could've easily built a strong trademark on their own without Quantics help and built a strong economic base (which they eventually realised). I'd think anybody would say that the QIM agreement helped Quantics trademark far more than it helped IM's trademark, so besides from the money Nestea and MVP won under that short time it didn't really help IMs trademark that much really. Luckily IM coach was smart and pulled out of that deal and realised that this is not the way to build a strong trademark, and now they've started doing the IM shows with Hwanni and have more coming up! Thing is during a deal like this, it usually make it a lot harder to gain sponsors (due to the fact that new sponsorships might hurt the sponsors that are involved in the deal, i.e. Since razer are sponsoring this deal it is pretty much crossed of the list that oGs will be able to sign deals with mouse/keyboard producers, and since Razer are moving in to producing laptops this year it might even hurt sponsorships from that end). When an agreement like this ends oGs will be back on square one and will be having the same troubles sending their players to events, and due to that we might just see more players leaving the team to have financial stability and being able to travel to events (The MC case for example). eSahara has in the past months showed on several ocassions that their management cannot act professionally, now when oGs are affiliated with them future events will also hurt the oGs trademark/reputation. You seem very hung up on the word trademark. It's not worth a shit if you can get sponsors and evidently from all the foreign teams partnering with Korean teams, it's not easy pickings to get sponsors in Korea. Saying that they can build an economic base themselves is nothing more than wishful thinking or speculating by your part. And you are seriously exaggurating the issues with having razor as a sponsor. You can't have it both ways.

However, what I'm not sure about is why Razer didn't just directly sponsor oGs for international travel. From the point of view of oGs and Razer I'm not sure what the point is of involving eSahara, assuming that the money is coming from Razer (who is the sponsor, after all.)

If IM could have built "their own strong trademark" and "their own economic base" without Quantic Gaming's help, why didn't have they done it in the first place? If they didn't need Quantic to send their players oversea to MLG's and Blizzcon and could have done it by themselves, they had no business giving Quantic advantages back at their own cost. You're telling me that IM didn't receive a better part of the deal than Quantic, whereas factually, the only thing you're talking about to justify it is something incommensurable and only dependant of your own individual perception: "trademark"/"reputation". It is not something you can directly translate into money, and you, unless you're willingful to release them here, don't have the objective informations and numbers if it was indeed more successful in terms of trademark to IM or Quantic. Now if you want we can discuss about what's mensurable, and it seems to me that IM got a way better deal than Quantic on the matter, as Quantic was supposed to finance IM's trips to MLG providence and Blizzcon for instance, and honored their part of the deal, whereas IM was supposed to grant a sit into their gaming house to Quantic players, but backed out of the deal before they had to (as Naniwa and Destiny spent most of their time in Korea under Quantic's colors in Startale house). Now if a team signs a partnership with another team, it is obviously because both have acknowledged that they have an advantage by doing so, and I'm not sure why you consider that it was a bad deal for one of them, if themselves, with their own interests, went to the conclusion, before embodying it in a contract, that it was a good thing for both of them. You're also talking about issues with getting further sponsors in the same category that the one you just signed, for example you can't have a second deal in keyboard/mouse producers if you sign with Razer, but that's the same with every team/business. You can't/there's no point having two concurrent sponsors in a same category. That argument makes no sense. You're also trying to say that that deal will prevent oGs from getting sponsors, when it is that deal that made them be able to pick up Razer. If they could have picked Razer by themselves, don't you think they would have done it? And why picking Razer alone is better than picking Razer and making a partnership with a foreign team that can contribuate to oGs expenses/provide training partners (I heard Naama is not that terrible, and it's not like korean players are always available to train with every other of their team mates 24/7, they eventually have tournaments to prepare, where they can face each other). The point that troubles me in your argumentation is that you seem to be worried about eSahara abusing in a way, for a reason that you didn't formulate, oGs, but on the other hand you're praising IM for having such behavior. About eSahara, they made mistakes like making a typo on a plane ticket, but how is that even comparable to being shady or ill-intentionned, and how is that even a reliable sign of the future turn of events (despite my point of saying that if that deal in a way or another stops at some time, that it would have brought nothing but good things to both teams)?
