http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/4592755/Developer_Update_with_Game_Director_Dustin_Browder_-3_12_2012 We’ve heard concerns about the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty social experience and many of these comments boil down to, “the service feels empty” and “I don’t know where to go to find people.” We have some simple fixes we’re going to put into the chat system to try to give players some additional connectivity. These aren’t huge fixes, but they may help players who want a more social experience. First, we’ll allow players to resize their chat windows to fill a larger portion of the screen. We’ll also remember the chat channel you were in as well as the position of that chat channel on your screen for when you next return to the game. This will allow players who want to recreate something that feels a lot more like Warcraft III or the original StarCraft to build their own interface that looks a lot like those older games. Sounds like they do read some feedback. It's a start. To help players find games more easily in patch 1.5, we intend to include an “open games list.” To be clear, this will not be every open game that is on the service. Instead, the open games list will deliver to you a selection of games from the many hundreds or thousands that are currently open. We are currently working on different ways to determine how the list you’ll see is generated. A good start here too. The details matter on how they do this, but however it works, there will be at least a chance of playing new games. As long as it's a few pages long, simply a random selection of open games would be SUCH an improvement. Things are looking up! Now to keep on the pressure for shared-replays with that play-game-from-here button...

If that patch hits and they're actually doing a good job with all of what they promised - alright. But personally, I won't count on it until I see it with my own eyes, and it won't bring back the droves of people that have long since left this game either.

We "did" nothing. You are now able to change the size of your chat window. Congrats, man! It's still a joke... (no offense shockk, you are doing a great job - but i really don't get why people are getting crazy about these tiny tiny fixes.) Edit @Zanazuah: After almost 2 years they _may_ change _some_ thing _sooner or later_... Maybe it's just my personal point of view, but for me this is certainly not enough. Feels more like a "take this and now stfu" to the community.

The problem is, it's not hell. Trust your community for once. Let us pass the word around, let us tell our friends what maps to go for. Hell, just let us filter the list of custom games for games we do not want to see. WC3 DotA became popular because it was good. The map was better than the rest, so people played it more. Still, there was room for long-term RPGs, Siege maps, other dotastyle maps, battleships, TDs, Pudge wars and numerous other genres and variations floating around. The map making community exploded, because they could FEEL in the community when they had success. Just let us talk, for crying out loud! Give in, accept that clans and by extension chat channel moderation make the game more fun for a lot of people, causing them to stay. Then note that people like clans because you can talk to other human beings there, whom you know in a sort of estranged way. Finally, if you want SC2 to live on, you need to let people talk to each other in the game. Scour the forums. I bet you, you'll find people here on Team Liquid that no longer plays the game because it feels empty, like a ghost town. Yet, these people are still on TL, because SC2 is a damn good game. I no longer play SC2 because of that. But I still love DRG.

It spawned an entire new genre (MOBA games) which has since eclipsed RTS games both in player and viewer numbers. Maybe they're scared of this? Losing players to a game created by people using Blizzard's software. But overall yeah, the social and the custom game aspects of BNET2 have been disappointing.

It's still very interesting that the genre (MOBA) that is threatening them is a style of game that "spawned" thanks to WC3's social and custom game aspect.

The fact that the game is open necessarily implies that someone wants to play it. Therefore, if you do not list it then how would anyone else know to join this game? The list should be sorted by a combination of how many games are open, and how long the game has been open for. In general, B.net 2.0 is so crappy, it would take years of updates at this snail's pace for its feature set to be at the level of B.net 1.0, let alone surpass it.

How can you not see this as a huge victory? It's not tiny tiny fixes, you got no idea how it will be. Remember, blizzard likes to surprise. This is not a huge victory, but just a small battle. Remembering position and size of a window is not a huge effort and it is definitly not what's written in OP. Check it again and see what we demand. We won't get it in 1.5, tho if we keep complaining we might get it in HotS.

I would assume they want to implement its organised so that every practice match or match with a party that is made not will be visible. i could see it becoming a shitstorm if it went too far in the other direction.

Yes, I'm still mad about regions. I didn't even know about them until one day I tried playing with an american friend and we couldn't add each other for about half an hour. Now I have the SEA trial installed side by side to my EU, because they Blizzard doesn't even have the decency to put their already implemented regoion selection in all the versions. But yeah, the game is much more social like this. Also facebook integration is an antifeature.. </repeat> At least there's SOME progress... p_-
