But they can get away with it, because it's not a subscription based game, and since people dont have to keep paying to play, they have no incentive to make things as they should be in 2012 interface wise.
Oh, top 200 is still broken.
I've lost all hope and interest in this game, except for casual tourny play until HOTS comes out. Custom maps are a sad joke compared to what WC3 offered.
At times like these, I wish Valve made starcraft 2.
Sooner or later blizzard will realize that their new policies made their reputation detariorate, and their reputation was their #1 selling point.

I'm sure you weren't saying he was, I just like to use him because he's the most prevalent figurehead of the company in our eyes.
And I agree, the short sighted fiscal gain model is what created our freaking economic collapse, caused the SOPA/PIPA bills to be made, the list goes on and on. Corporations just can't be considered people these days. If Vivendi was a person, it would be a goddamn sociopath.
And it really bothers me that it's finally taken its toll on a great game company like blizzard. I really hope that they somehow find their way into a partnership with valve. God, that would be an unstoppable force. Valve-designed bnet 3.0 and balance patches every damned week (with hats!) and blizzard core mechanics and attention to detail...
It's sad to see such potential thrown down the drain.
They haven't even addressed anything as simple as paid name changes. While I do like some of the features of their chat, such as the pop ups for private messages, etc... the majority of it is complete shit. I remember being shocked when I found out there wasn't shared replays. Even more shocked when I purchased SC2 only to see there was no chat channels originally.
I will not be buying HOTS until they get their shit together(if they ever do). Sad to see what used to be such a good company go down the drain.
I almost cried after reading that. JK, but posting in support of it! We know they're working on bnet, but it'd be good after 2 years to get a heads up...
Couldn't agree more, SC2 ui still sucks with barely any improvements in the 2 years it's been out. Battle.net for Diablo, Diablo2, SC/BW, Warcraft 3 were all better than sc2 battle.net. And sadly I don't have high hopes for HotS, knowing what Blizzard has become lately.

I haven't touched Starcraft 2 since probably last September. If Battlenet is gonna be like this in HOTS, i probably won't be buying the game. Will probably just play the campaign at a friends place or something but that's about it. Tournaments are still fun to watch though.
Also Husky just posted this:
It's ridiculous the amount of awesome stuff that was in War3 almost a decade ago that is missing from Battlenet 2.0. I thought the design philosophy for services like Battlnet are to actually improve with every iteration, not take out often used features that fans love. I can understand LAN not being there, but just look at how easy it is to change your name, create clans, automated tournaments...etc It's just fucking bullshit what we have right now.
Wow, I'm feeling nostalgic for WC3 again after watching that video.

WC3 is absolutely awesome.
It's very sad, so see how bad B.net 2.0 is.
Yeah, I am really feeling the same way right now, Starcraft 2 for these reasons alone have disappointed me.
They got such a huge lust for money it's kinda depressing, this is not the blizzard from my puberty, where you could buy a game blinded.
-Why you refuse to add lan? If you go into torrent site you are able to find program that allow you to play lan with SC2. - Why are you still asking for time for clan functionalities? Are you trying to find a way to gain money even with clan functionalities? - Why don't you add a lag check at selection screen so games aren't ruined by laggers? - Why don't you add a selection menu when you join custom melee games where you can choose the league which you wanna play with and which race? It is so boring when people leaves at game start or while game is starting, and I'm not claiming I never did it. -Why you, as a major competitive industry don't join on making the prize pool higher on tournaments, but instead you drain the events organizers?
VALVE IS THE OLD BLIZZARD.
And you know what : most people inside this forums are willing to buy hots if it actually improves Ui, not understanding that blizzard wish just to push his profit to limit and sneeze all the money you got from your pocket if it was able to do it
I'm still a bit overwhelmed at all the feedback this thread has gotten. Here on TL we're at over 400 replies, same goes for Reddit, where the thread quickly reached the top of r/starcraft with over 1.000 upvotes. On both official forums, the thread has reached several pages, and already is "popular" on the US side of the boards.
Over the years I've posted several writeups like this on the forums, but never with quite such a strong response. Pretty sure by now that after two years, even the most die-hard fans must have realized that endless promises by Blizzard won't lead to things getting fixed eventually.
Try to use the momentum behind this to spread awareness. The HotS Beta will be our next big chance to move things and to message the devs. And more things like Husky's video on previous UI installments can only help.
If only Blizzard rediscovered the fact that money follows quality. I guess Activison's philosophy of spending the least amount of money & effort for a quick buck has truly seeped in.
It's really sad that there are so many backsteps compared to WC3 and other (old) games. I hope that with HotS a lot of improvements will be implemented (and that third party tools like sc2gears are not neccessary anymore).
i think they should implement a form of automated tournaments. the social stuff like clans and tags would be nice perks, but the tournaments would be a competitive alternative to laddering and would (hopefully) include most game modes.
