He can choose when he plays and when he does not, and if he feels the conditions for him are not optimal ( being tired in this case ) he should not play. The tournament organisers should act accordingly to their rules and if there is no specific point about forfeiting, then he should just simply be awarded with 2nd place, as he rightfully earned it. He should not play in tournaments if he can't stick to their schedule. If he can't stick to their rules, why should they stick to their own? Moving him to 4th is a +1 in my book(and my book is hella long). Stephano did not violate any rules, forfeiting from tournament is not forbidden. However, I do not think there is any rule that allows tournament organisers to simply put a 2nd place player in 4th spot. Tournament organizers can disqualify players at their own discretion. They should not be allowed to, that is the biggest problem is sc now. Of course they should, and there's a reason why they can't abuse it. This was completely justified.
No, if there are no rules on tournament organizers they can about that, something that we can see in this Stephano's example. How the fuck somebody had the idea to move him to 4th place??? It is so stupid ffs! There is NO justification behind this. He should be given a penalty that is in tournament rules and if there is not any then he should not receive any penalty at all, if which case he should rightfully remain 2nd.

If he had played terrible games people would have been complaining too.
I dont agree with that last statement. We see players perform at less than full all the time. Sure the fans get dissapointed, but they dont go and pick up pitchforks about it. This is incredibly disrepectful to Kas, and Stephano's fans.

i never thought really high of stephanos attitude/personality (as far as i can judge through the internet ofc, yet stuff like col/millenium drama and his overall approach leave marks). just confirms it so w/e. placing him 4th isnt right either tho yet, forfeiting in an online invitational final is just plain retarded. the whole tournament is based to see it.

I agree, considering one of their own players has done the same thing and not said a word about it

Why no thread about Tyler???? Fair is fair...

Well done TL on creating more drama and more hate towards a top foreign player. What is really the purpose of this thread? Spread the drama to more people?
And what the hell are you talking about "If we had a governing body we could punish Stephano"? That sounds pretty awful if you ask me, and in my eyes Kespa feels like a backwards, undemocratic, controlling organization.
Stephano forfeited, got placed 4th. If the organizers are upset, dont ever invite him back. If he keeps it up with others, he would not be invited ever. But I doubt this nice little kid from France will go on a douchebag spree.
Calm down, and stop wanting Stasi to take over.

The majority of tournaments organisers should really really think about postpone matches when the schedule doesn't allow to a X player to play for some reasons (problem of an internet connection, time zone, emergency of any kind, etc.) but of course would be REALLY valuable reasons to prevent abuses.

Moving him to 4th place is deserved. If it was non-invitational cup, he'd have right to give up finals, I think that'd only suck for people he faced earlier, specially in semis though. But when you're invited, I think it adds extra requirements to play as long as it takes. Being tired is one thing, but tournament can't reschedule completely because one player is tired.

Yes, I'm sure its going to be a huge problem that players are going to just walk away from playing 3 to 5 games of SC2 for $1500.
Better make a law or something, because its going to become such a cool thing to do that everyone will do it.
That's what happened here right? Stephano is just so blaze.... haha typical french.... that he said fuck it and went and ate a baguette.
This is just comedy and troll bait..... must be sweeps week.

Have you forgotten where you are? Fans bring out the pitchforks for everything. If Stephano gave all of his winning away to charity people would still find a way to cry about it

I don't think there is ambiguity in its application.. not at all. Basically, things out of control of the player -- like an earthquake -- are valid excuses for forfeiting.. anything else should be punishable with either bans and/or fines. So this is not a 'shit happens' moment, this is more like the 'immature, spoiled brat trying to pose as a pro player'

I get that he was tired, but here were his options:
1. Forfeit, leave without an answer, get no $$. 2. Play tired, bad games, probably not win, but make the fans happy and win some $$.
Anyone else think this was just a bit of a snobbish way of going about it?
Also, why would Millenium even put him in this situation? Bad managing, snob player... For every one good thing Millenium are doing, it seems they are doing 2 things worse these days...

Has ONOG enstablished any rules about forfeiting matches before the actual tournament went underway? If the punishment has been clearly stated at that point, then I have no problems with it.

Wondering the same thing.

Tyler forfeiting is not entirely the same. Yes it was bad form but if Stephano had forfeited at the beginning of the tournament like Tyler had, it wouldn't have been as big of a deal.
|
Teamliquid didn't make this thread. It was the organizers of the tournament wanting to explain the reasonings behind moving Stephano to 4th place.
Nobody demanded Stephano make a thread to explain his size. Asking Teamliquid to make a 'explain what happened to Tyler' thread is ridiculous and honestly has nothing to do with this instance. It is a completely different unrelated situation.

If you forfeit, shouldnt you be disqualified and removed out of the results all together?
Anyhow, Stephano is just a 18y/o kid that thinks that the world revolves around him. These things are to be expected.
