Please discuss IdrA and Sen in Code S January in this thread. |
He's been one of the top foreigners but if you ban someone at least hold qualifiers or something.
thats what i was thinking , they should make a simple Bo3 qualifier for the foreigners that are in Korea and wanted to play in this. It could be without broadcasting but it was legit...
maybe we are again making a storm for nothing but i doesnt look that way
|
Code S is brand now and not the Best.
Mr.Chea is... well I got nothing nice to say about him so I will be quiet
|
They should do qualifiers for foreigners in korea
|
I can't see myself rooting for Idra, even if he's a foreigner.
He hasn't won this spot, he's only getting it because of GOM's arbitrary decisions.
Here's to Idra getting crushed!
|
Code S is a popularity contest not a competition of skills. Hole incident is a bad joke.
Giving out 2 Code S spot to players that didnt earn it in the MLG exchange program wtf is going on here.

Idra should have to win his way through the Up-and-Downs like the rest of the players. He left Korea and made the choice to leave his spot. Yes, Idra did leave his spot, but I disagree that Idra should have to do the up and down matches. People want to see Idra play on the biggest stage. GOM makes more money by having idra play in Code S. It's a win win. So if someone is popular they should be able to just bypass the qualifying part of the tournament? In some cases yes. In this case, yes. You must either be a massive Idra fanboy or just plain crazy. How can you say that? It's really not fair to pick a player and screw all the others qualifying through the normal route just because he's popular. I can understand the logic of picking a player up based on results and through a fixed system like the MLG-GSL partnership, but this is a whole different thing. What if now Manchester United, just because they're popular, would bounce back to Champions League, despite the fact that they couldn't do it though the normal route? Would that be accepted? Of course not. (please, no jokes about Man U being popular on not, focus on the logic) If you haven't realized this yet, life isn't fair. That's fucking great. I guess I'm gonna go out and rob and murder a couple of people, since life isn't fair anyway.

The IdrA debate is ridiculous. He said, himself, in a SOTG that he didn't think it would be fair to get a code S spot based on past success and didn't expect Gom to make an exeption for him.
Is it fair that IdrA gets a code S spot? No Is he the best contender for that foreigner spot? Yes, because if it were not him, it would probably go to Sase or Jinro. And giving absolutely free spots to players who have negative records in code A would be very akward (regardless of their actual skill).

Idra fans im sorry but Idra will be crushed , besides him being as BM as Naniwa he is Code B material now ... Besides , he left korea because he knew he had no chance , now he comes back without deserving and all of a sudden hes code S good ?
He left Korea because he knew he had no chance?? He finished in the top8 of his last code S, the only zerg remaining beside Nestea.
And it's really hard to say if he's gonna get crushed. There are not that many protoss in code S, and he could already take on very good korean terrans and zergs before even going to the slayers house...

He got rid of one prima donna undeserving and ungrateful child of a player, and added two great foreigners.
He's protecting his brand, and doing a good job of it.

Yeah man. I remember when SjoW and the gang got sent to Korea thanks to the MLG exchange program, everyone was full of praise and said that they were going to "tear up Code A" like it was totally fair for all the other Koreans struggeling in Code B. Now when Naniwa gets thrown out and Idra and Sen gets invited due to foreign turnament results the competition is suddenly unfair and invalid.
People should seriously consider not looking through coloured glasses all the time.

Why not give the spots to Stephano,Morrow or any koreans for that matter that are working very hard
Why becuase its a popularity contest whomever got more fans gets it.
PS, I do know Stephano passed down any invites to GSL but the point still stand

I think GOM's choice to drop Naniwa and give Idra and Sen spot in Code S is good one. Naniwa acted against GSL's rules to behave and I think that kind of acting should be banned from big tournaments so its good that Naniwa is gone temporarily. Idra has won many tournaments and has always behaved well in GSL and has recently win many tournaments and Sen I think have performed well enough to place in top2. Huk has won the most tournaments ofc, but he has Code S spot already so they had to give 2nd spot to someone else. Maybe Stephano would be better choice than Sen, but I think there might be people who have declined spot and maybe they only look through a group of tournaments of their choice where Sen has just happened to be playing good
|
Congrats to Idra and Sen for the Code S spot!
For the people whinging here, there are clear precedents in other spots where wildcard spots have always been given out (e.g. tennis). Also, don't forget that Idra already had a Code S spot when he left Korea. Anyways, I think it'll be quite tough for him because I don't think his level was a good as it was, he'll need alot of training over the Christmas period!

I think that those 2 spots were reserved for foreigners, it's hard to argue that Sen and IdrA and bad choices.

I understand GOM stance in penalizing Naniwa, and can accept that -- even if grudgingly. But giving Idra a free code S spot is just non-sense. It is not fair and reek of bias and favoritism.
From Idra point of view, it is a free pass into code S. With the way he is playing, it would be crazy to not accept it. Therefore I will not lay any blame on Idra's. At least it is better than having a forfeited spot, if nothing else.

But enough with all the 'well, lets invite him to Code X' bullshit.
Do wild cards or something, geez :/ 100% agree. No one should get an invite into Code S anyways. That is kind of ridiculous. Players should be earning their way into what is supposed to be the most difficult and prestigious tournament anywhere.
this is a stupid point
Do you think Coca's opponent should have not gotten a free win into code s too?
when you fuck around you lose your code S spot, it's a privilege not a right, and idra was code S when he left, and he has won several code A seeds. it makes perfect sense.

despite everything that has happened, i want Idra to do well. Lets hope he can make it.
|
Would be nice if they had a qualifier for the spot and stream it! But now they just invite . Why sen? Idra maybe i can understand but baarely. Still wouldve liked a qualifier
|
Best of luck to IdrA and Sen, as I'm a fan of them both
Sen took Naniwa's spot, right?
|
I think idra can make it only if he is able to change playing styles, he plays the same things over and over again and koreans are very good at abusing certain styles. I dont think he has a chance like this, since they wont let him into macro game.
|
I don't know why GOM would do that...other code A korean players should be furious o_O
