IdrA and Sen both get spots so aside from Naniwa, so someone else dropped out?

Granted, Naniwa's behaviour was immature and disrespectful.

But is there a written rule that he actually violated to justify this severe punishment?

Are they trying to qualify?

Okay, so why not give the spot to Nada or Polt? Both higher ranked in GSL points than Idra and they have both made semifinals in the past few months.

Idra got the spot because he's popular and GSL wants more foreigners so that their tickets sell. It's not because his skill is above all others trying to qualify that he needs to go straight into Code S. I like Idra. I want him in Code S. But I want to see him earn it by testing his skills in Up-and-Downs.

IdrA is not more popular overall than NaDa. Maybe to foreigners, but he still only has a fraction of the fans NaDa has.

And Nada and Polt dropped down. You cannot give it to someone who was dropped out of Code S. Possibly they could've run a new mini-Code A type tournament, but instead they chose the former Code S player who never dropped down. Whatever accomplishments (and he has them) since then really aren't that important.

Honestly, the original Code A spots given to foreigners is more puzzling/pandering than IdrA getting the Code S spot, imo.

So let me get this straight...

If you try to cheat/exploit the system to get into the GSL like Choya did, you basically have to apologize and eveything is fine.
If you matchfix in games that actually matters for GSL, you get a "temp ban" by your team, not by the league.
And if you proberush in a game that had no other purpose than to take place in a tournament not directly related to the GSL, you lose your whole progress in the GSL and get punished by the league in the hardest way possible

Sorry GOMTV, as much as I respect you, but I think you made the wrong decision.

Choya did it on ladder to get back to his real MMR fast. He also got banned from GSTL.
Coca's punishment was harsh and how do you know that GOM wouldn't have kicked him out if Slayers didnt?
And Naniwa's situation is a matter of respect, not rules. Nestea played for real, and other players would have too, foreigners or not including even Idra.

Why Sen?

I...don't...get it. Why does Sen get the spot? Yes, he got third at NASL and Blizzcon. Why not, you know, Puma, the guy who WON NASL? Why not a top ranking Korean like Nada or Polt? Why not the guy who was behind Naniwa at Providence in Huk or Haypro?

I'm saying this one more time. Have you considered that they picked Sen because he REALLY does have a huge following in Taiwan and other regions? Maybe GOM wants to "please" Taiwanese scene/fans? Might just as well be that factor.

Totally agree. We need to set up a petition or some kind of community rally to make some noise at least to how ridiculous GOM is acting in this. They have a terrible format with no rules stating probe rush isnt allowed, then ban a player who follows their shitty rules? Unbelievable really.

A petion for what? Are you fucking serious? GOM can enforce their rules however they please, give me a break.

Yup, but if you don't like what they do then you don't have to support it any longer.

Good thing i didn't buy that annual ticket. I can't support such a reactionary organization. I've been waiting for them to do something stupid like this, but i didn't expect it to be this petty and childish.

Koreans get invited in foreign tournamnets (final brackets).
Foreigner get invited in korean tournaments (code S).

Koreans wouldnt be able to play foreign qualification tours all the time.
Foreigner wouldnt be able to qualify through code A early enough even if they would just win everything in there (which they wouldnt) but foreigners in Code S ARE a big publicity move for GomTV.

Fair deal imo. as long as noone in Code A "really" gets hurt (everyone who wouldve qualified will qualify, its simply the runner up who isnt a runner up now. Wow, big deal.)

Idra was already succesfull in Code S and has proven himself and he did not drop out. He simple left Korea (What u think about that is a whole other story).
Further more, Idra has much "Enemys" in Code S --> Publicity.

Jinro was offered it awhile ago but he declined because he wants to earn his spot.

Im talking about the next season. Jinro declined it when he thought he wasnt good enough for it. But failed very close on making it into Code A twice after those offers. I think he may changed his mind because of this. If not he will win his Code A Spot anyways! HOPE!

Never taking an invite that isnt based on tournament results.

GOM kicking Naniwa might be the worst response to this possible. If his 'offense' wasn't covered in the rules then it's a matter for the team to take up; this makes all parties look unprofessional and hurts the scene even more =/ No way I'll be buying another ticket if it's true.

no, what Gom did was the perfect response and I applaud them for taking such action. Starcraft is a professional game and we don't need attitudes and disrespect from people like Naniwa.

Just be glad he's not banned for life, as he would if he pulled the same stunt in any Esport in Korea aka sc1

this is wildly ignorant

I don't get why they didn't just hold a wildcard tournament for people who lose at the Up and Downs like they did back in the first season of code S when LiveForever left to the army and also when Rain left. They have an actual off-season this time so they certainly wouldn't have problem with just holding a small online tournament to determine who deserves the Code S.

Because Idra and Sen are popular and they're selling season tickets.

'IDRA, HUK, AND SEN IN THE NEW SEASON OF GSL 2012!' will sell. They want new viewers/more money. That's all this is.

You're being way too cynical here, shame on you. I've seen your posts a lot, you're better than this.

I'm sorry but that is true. Sen is no way code S level. Not to mention the amount of good players in up & downs like polt, bomber, losira, hero and many more whom could have dominated Sen any day. I really dislike this move and if Naniwa is banned, i'm even more disgusted by gom tv.

That is ridiculous and you know it.

1. Idra qualified for Code S multiple times, then relinquished his spot.
2. He's back in Korea and qualified for the Up&Down matches.
3. You have a spot to fill.

Idra I can see. Sen on the other hand, I can't. He's done nothing GSL/MLG partnership related. He hasn't qualified for the Up&Downs in January. This really came out of nowhere.

It all comes down to culture. A lot of us don't see it as a big deal. In Korea though things like respect, professionalism, and manner are seen in different ways. To us it didn't seem like a big deal it was a meaningless game and what not, its not a big deal to most. In Korea its a huge deal that he did that and didn't even try and I'm sure with Korean fans none of them would want NaNiWa in GSL for what he did and most importantly most of the players in GSL wouldn't want someone like that in GSL. Fact is GOM is a Korean run company and for all we know what he did may have broken a GSL rule and they can give him a punishment they seem fit with their standards and rules.
