Can we just keep the current tournaments as "men only" then? Same goes for chess, still there's womens tournaments so they atleast get some attention.
Anyway, who cares if they signed her for marketing purposes.. that's what companies/brands have to do. No need to attack her or eS for it.

This. It takes brains to pursue a PHD in anything, and IMO that goes double for fields like mathematics. That said, I can't see a full time graduate student having enough time to play SC2 enough to compete at the highest level.

So, she has a PhD is mathematics but cant compete in a thinking game with common nerds? Seems like competing in girl only tournaments belittles yourself. Because clearly woman only tournaments mean "woman who arnt good enough to compete in normal tournaments"
If theres no "guy only" tournaments there should be no "woman only" tournaments.

It's not only a thinking game. lol

Set theory makes even mathematicians bored. Damn I hate that stuff. Differential equations and statistical theory are infinitely (power sets over!) more interesting.

Marketing. Its the sad truth, although I'm sure if a tournament came out that was "men only" people would be getting mad.
Why is the title of this thread "Adds female player"? Why cant it just be esahara adds a player?
|
^ Why are they adding mediocre masters players to a "professional" team?
I am confused by all of the female additions, they simply can't compete with the male counterparts, or at least they haven't proved they can.. what use do professional teams have with them? *shrug*
|
Seems like eSahara just wants to get their name out there. pick up a female gamer, send two players to Korea, sign two Koreans.
Guess they have to though, it's not like they're players are winning anything and bringing notoriety that way.

I really want female progamers to actually do well and not turn into some marketing gimmick.

Everyone who is talking about how she isn't good is need to be quiet. The best way to get females involved in the pro scene is getting them on pro teams! She maybe be low masters now, but who knows where she will end up after some serious practice with good pro players. It would be huge for a team to have a female player develop into a top pro player. It is worth the risk imo to have at least 1 female player on a team.

While this may be true, explain to us how a PhD student in her mid twenties is going to develop into a decent GM player, let alone a mediocre pro player, let alone a top pro player. It's not gonna happen, this is publicity. Not to mention that there is no risk involved. Unless eSahara pays salaries to their players, there is 0 investment on their part, especially since I doubt we'll see her in any live events.

Nothing will come of this as usual.

When I see Masters player, this is a disappointing thing to hear. If both genders are to be treated equally, how come players of lower caliber on the condition of being female are allowed into teams whereas the standard for males is higher. This is ridiculous and if the female eSports scene is to be given credence, no special treatment should be allowed.
I give credit to her intelligence and I do not discredit her as person. She may have a fantastic personality, but as there has been no special mention of her assets (knowledge) being utilized for some other purpose, this I believe is unacceptable.
Sigh...

IMO it's way too early for female progamers to make an appearence, maybe in a few years we'll see some talents pop out and compete with the pros. But for now, the SC2 scene is just being discovered by the female gender. I guess it just feels forced to me. That and calling her a player makes me roll my eyes, at least call her a trainee or something.

id love to be X Rated right now with my words. she deserves a thread full of compliments imo.
sexy girl in the pic.

i personally dont care for girls in gaming but can see the pro teams point of view (those with a brain can think of the obvious reasons).
but stop bashing on their skill, most of the posters in this thread arent even masters i bet.

Poor picture choice definitely, but she's a pretty lady. Not that that matters, or makes the picture look less naked. But eh, it's a shame this has to be mentioned. Some day men will be wearing low cut tops / dresses and i will be forced to make similar comments.
We never did get those Huk shirtless pics he suggested on twitter did we? :D
Good luck to the lady~!
