Maybe this helps with popularity idk, but SC2 has many male fan base, while SC1 has greater female fan base (who do not really understand the game, but idolize the players). So maybe because there is a large male fan base, female players might be better for teams right?

Maybe its an aging star or something who is past their prime, but the team is rebuilding and he can bring in fans even though the team won't win. Is that a bad pickup? You're arbitrarily applying non business standards to a business decision, yes, it is for money. The rub is EVERY signing to an SC2 Team is for money. Get over it. In all the scenarios you mentioned, the player has earned something through their own dedication over their peers. An aging star is still someone who has earned his reputation through his play. That is not the case with these pick-ups. If they're doing it for money and publicity, good for them. With any positive publicity that they get comes negative publicity and absolutely valid criticisms. In a similar vein, just because female only tournaments can be profitable doesn't mean they're fair. If you want to cop-out with, "Life's unfair, get over it" then sure, go for it, but people have valid criticisms.

In the first sentence I'm adressing the fact that this move is entirely to make money, in the second one i'm saying that this is how thing works, and that there is nothing wrong with it. You're welcome.

Ive never heard of this team before, and this is definatly not the right way to promote them... thread titles like this invalidate female gamers everywhere. Actually, adding a female player IS exactly what many teams are doing to promote themselves. It's good publicity, PR, and rep. EDIT: Gah, just noticed this thread is 3 weeks old :S.

If she has potential, and I bet she does, then hopefully eSahara can do some good for her and we'll see some good games with Maddelisk (great name, I love how most girls use their name as part of their handle) in the future. Also, hopefully the next photos eSahara will showcase will have Madeleine actually wearing clothes. That was a joke. You know, as a business, you need more than just someone who's good. You need someone who has followers, etc. I think EG and coL stated it pretty well. Edit : In the end, it's exposure you want. Exposure for your partners (read : sponsors), players, your brand.
