Naniwa was paid to even play in this tourney. He could've ATLEAST put some effort into every game he plays. Fans are paying alot money to watch him play. He could've done it for the fans. Thats being professional.

and what i bolded..Be a douchebag to your manager see if you don't get fired from your job. He's getting paid to play the game atleast he could've showed some respect to Quantic gaming.

You dont' have to put effort into everything. So he didn't feel like playing one out of hundreds of game. Big fucking deal.
Yeah you get fired from your job, which is like getting fired from your team (whcih basically happened to Naniwa.) However if a construction worker gets fired for being a douche, he can still be considered a construction worker, and find another job as one. The same goes for Naniwa and progaming.

Are you kidding. He has constantly put up good results and is one of the best foreign players out there, not to mention that things like this have happened far worst and more frequently elsewhere, but simple because it was in Korea it was blown out of proportion. And you want to ban him from the biggest Starcraft tournament for 2 years because he made a discussion when he was upset and probably not thinking straight. How can you blame him for being demoralized, he had lost all his previous games, he had nothing to fight for, sure it would have been nice if he played the match, but you have to respect the fact that he is human.

And if GOM actually bans him for 2 years u can't really blame them for doing that, you have to respect the fact that they organize a competition for players to compete.

We don't but he was playing on the Koreans turf. He could've atleast tried to be a pro gamer. People like you need to grow up.

Heres the deal, broken down really simply:
-------------------------------------------------------------
The game did not matter for any of the two players.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nani won't pretend it matters because he is too much of a notgiveafucker.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nestea togheter with the Korean nation cries over some sportsmanship ideal that apparently is very important, (mind you the eastern culture is very diffrent from our western one. They have older more konservative values. To fail in public is a great shame [high suiciderates among celebrities])
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile nani is busy eating Knackebrod and not giving a fuck.

Well then he should get out of Korea ASAP if he's too much of a "notgiveafucker" and play in the Western scene because we're all "notgiveafuckers"

Wow really?
He did nothing wrong, it was hilarious. The reaction or hundreds of butt hurt people is even more hilarious.
If you don't want meaningless games don't make two 0-3 players battle it out for nothing?!
Of course they aren't going to give a crap.
In fact it was the perfect mind game from Naniwa. Now next time he faces NesTea, NesTea will be even MORE pissed than he was before.
Situations like this are what makes the scene entertaining. Embrace it don't hate it.
Don't hate the player - Hate the game

Go in Germany and act like this, then see what will happen. Germany is considered west , right ? This is not a matter of cultural differences, its a matter of professionalism.

Also to the argument "It's gom's fault. There shouldn't be meaningless matches." : Meaningless matches exist even in football World Cup(biggest sports event in the world), but no one throws matches away by doing wacky strats.
I didn't like Naniwa in first place , now I'm just indifferent about him... Some random guy from Sweden.

I've been watching SC2 outside of Korea alot. Weekly tournaments in EU are really great value and are as much entertaining as watching GomTV. For me if Koreans would close and cut off from rest of the world it would make no change. I dont like their culture and i don't like they way they try to enforce it on other people.
I haven't heard of scandal as big as setting up matches in SC:BW outside of Korea. So maybe they shouldn't act suddenly like probe rushing is disrespectful.

Yeah, for money. The match Naniwa competed for wasn't for money. It was for shits and giggles. He could have thrown it in many different ways. Nestea could have thrown it many ways. They had absolutely nothing to gain other than a televised win which ultimately amounts to nothing other a tiny bit of press.

There can be, if the tournament or league has rules that require good sportsmanship.

Anyway, at the Blizzcon afterparty in the Hilton lounge, I walked up to Naniwa, who was standing idly in a corner, alone, and said to him "Hey, thanks for being a great player and giving us foreigners someone to cheer for." He looked at me like I was from outer space and said nothing. Not a smile, not a "thank you," absolutely nothing at all. He was probably tired and upset about being knocked out of the tournament earlier in the day, and I immediately left him to himself, but it was, frankly, completely bizarre, and he was the only one of several pros I spoke to at that event who didn't seem happy to hear a few words of support.

It would be inappropriate to characterize his personality based on that incident, but based on the sum total of the stories, the guy's certainly turned inward in a way that most people aren't.

I agee, if he said....fuck you nestea and left, and broke sportsmanship rules, go ahead and ban him from every playing SC2 again, I dont' give a shit. But there aren't rules against probe rushing, and if they decide to add them, then they can ban him if he does it again.

I personally think his antagonism and BM adds to the community drama which everyone loves. Sure a lot koreans found it rude and will want to beat him next games, making future games that matter more exciting. Facing nestea he had pride on the line and he didnt want to risk it when his heart wasnt in it. A bit selfish for sure. Should have done some amusing strategy instead like proxy 2stargate or 1base mothership, save his pride yet not get hate.

yeah, let's ban him for two years for doing a stupid strat in one single game! that's justified, right?

come on man. get a grip... his choice may not have been the best one, but it was ONE game. stop acting like it's the end of the world or something.

Should Nestea and Naniwa have been kicking a ball to each other as they played? To the argument "Football has it THEREFORE SC2 should have it" is not an argument but a lack of an argument, and void of logic. You're basically admitting Football has no reason to do it so you just ignorantly accept it, move on and think SC2 should do it too.

and he did try. He tried until it didn't matter anymore, he went 0-3 and was done. Just because he didn't play 1 match doesn't mean he's somehow unfit to be a progamer. Do you also believe IdrA is unfit just because he wanted to nap for more important matches, rather then play a match that didn't matter and possibly lose future ones? Is stephano unfit because he didn't want to play against Sen when he had the choice? That's just a stupid argument.

You clearly don't belong in this. Just shut up you're like that one annoying ex-girlfriend that no one gives a shit about. That kid clearly says the Koreans and the West have different values and culture. Well guess what punk? He was playing on the Koreans turf at least respect their culture instead of shitting all over it. Impudent Punk. You're the one making this a stupid argument.

rofl, and the massively personal attacks come out, now that you've lost. I never brought up the forigner vs korea or race once. I was countering you on the definition of progamer. Just because you didn't play a match that didn't matter doesn't mean your no longer fit to play professional starcraft rofl.

From GOM's PoV, they want to attract more viewers with quality games. Throwing games doesn't support their cause. So throw the matches if you'd like but don't whine if GOM bans you for two years.

'he forgot to remember that pro-gamers are meant to show the best games out of their ability to fans'

And you forgot that sometimes they aren't able to do that. You also pretend Korean players don't always give it their best in situations like this match.

You also don't make any mention of GOM's flawed format in this tournament. You don't qualify as a credible news site.
Education should be our seniors guiding us to be "who" we want to be, not "what" we want to be.

Also, the day probe rushing becomes "shitting on someones culture" is the day the world stops pretending that culture matters.

GSL has no pointless matches. Have you ever seen someone throw a match that wasn't because a player DIDN'T want to win money/prestige in the GSL? No incentive to win = no quality games.

And it's terribly irresponsible of GOM to assume players would play their hearts out for no reason. See boxer vs yellow show match; a disaster.

If the final game of that group actually mattered, I could see peoples point, but it didn't. It was a pointless match being played between 2 people you would expect to do well. Naniwa was disappointed, yes he is a temperamental character, but so what? Are we only allowing the angels of the community like Boxer and White-ra play in tournaments?

" Oh but Nestea's feelings, and GSL and Blizzard and oh good I want to cut myself..."

Calm down and take a chill pill, because in a week no one is going to give a shit, trying to make out like Naniwa is finished and that no one will ever see him at another tournament is laughable.

I mean christ look at this shit: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/3729833787

People are acting like the crazy 40-somethings at a premiere to a twilight film, bleeding hearts.

I'm not gonna deny my hate. Also I never stated that I don't care about other cultures. But other cultures like Koreans should learn to understand Western culture. Thing should be mutual. Yet from what I see - it only works one way. We need to respect Koreans why they do their stuff and we should not say a word.
Also if You really think that doing a probe rush is disrespectful to Korean society - then I really think you are going to way out of proportions with this. And that is where all my hate comes from.
