GL in Korea Desrow!

just to clarify, people who are not fond of desrow =/= haters

pro-gaming is revolved around performance, the average reaction to such a news is very much correlated to the performance of the player. just remember for example a lot of people made fun of drewbie when he went to korea and like everyone considers him a better player than desrow

and i haven't even seen one bashing or flaming post in this topic, people are just saying he's not up to the challenge and that is an objective observation;) people don't necessarily need to be sweethearts or dickheads

Maybe people need to start reading then. If you haven't noticed, he said he is going to korea to IMPROVE. His aim is to be in code A, notice how different that is from saying "I will be in code A next season" ? Everybody with big ambitions knows you need to have a semi-reachable goal, and Code A for Desrow is definitely reachable with enough practice and dedication.

Its kind of frustrating to read posts like this, the guy is so dedicated to the game and tries hard to improve himself but then people come and go..... well you're no Michael Jordan, might as well not even try. He's paying for most of the trip himself in order to improve, don't see why people are being so pessimistic about it. Its his money.

to be honest, you make it sound like nobody even has the right to comment in a "negative" way...I mean, as long as you don't get insulting, it surely is ok to be of - and express - the opinion that you don't think that's such a good idea?

Because I for myself got to agree with Chill - the thing is, desrow ALREADY practices really hard and isn't even on top of NA. This makes me think he has reached his "skill-ceiling" that mere practice in Korea isn't likely to break. Just think about the huge amount of (arguably) more skilled players that moved to Korea and failed most terribly.

Wow I just noticed that too and looked at their profiles. Pretty much every single one of them has only posted pro-Desrow comments on threads relating to him.

I highly doubt it's him making those, but he seems to have some rabid fans who made multiple accounts. Nice...

You're seriously a giant dick for posting this for basically no reason. Haven't you noticed that nearly every streamer has countless fans that mostly come out to support them? Look at the top left of the page. The vast majority of TL users aren't even logged in most of the time, and announcements about their favorite players are a great reason for them to come in and show support.

Yeah, I am a giant dick, but that's kind of irrelevant. I'm used to that for people like Destiny, which I'm fine with. I see a lot of his fans on a regular basis. I'm just far more suspicious when it's desRow. I'm happy for more TL users, I'm not so happy when said TL users only sign up to post a single one-liner.

Detective tirentu, if you haven't noticed Nazgul posted in his previous thread and Chill posted in this one. I'm pretty certain they have already done IP checks and would of banned him if he was doing the self-promoting himself. Not to mention, he's been streaming for the past 2-4hours when this thread was posted. Kind of hard to make multiple accounts and play at the same time......

Yeah, I thought about that after posting. It's clear that it's not him, but it's still suspicious to me. I figure R1CH would wizard all over their asses if there was something wrong.

And who was huk before Korea? Who made fun of incontrol when he went over? Or the dozens of other unknown players playing for example for itsgosu (or gosu gamers or gosu whatthefuckever)? Here is a guy who is fronting his own money for the chance to improve, which he will, 100% (code A? probably not yet...) All because it is his dream to be a pro gamer. Isn't that what we would call "love for Esports" in a different context? Maybe if he had a big name team (cough EG) to throw tons of sponsorship and advertising money at him, he would have more support, but people resent the idea that he is trying to promote himself. I see that as entrepreneurship. Why the fuck not. Good luck Desrow.

Not only that, he isn't going to a korean team house (IM, ST, etc.). Seems kinda pointless to train like that. It's not like Korean food and air = higher SC skill.

Good luck though.

I don`t think he will improve too much if he is not in a team. If he intends to stay there long time he will have to deal with not being able to speak Korean and thus with social isolation. Being in Korea makes only sense if you live in an established setting. Also if he used to play already 8-10 hours per day and still is only mid-level GM on NA there are reasons to doubt if he`s ever gonna develop into the next Stephano/Nani/Huk, Thorzain etc.

People are obviously allowed to give negative comments, granted they are informed. Your post for example contradicts Chill's. He said its a great opportunity for Desrow to go, but a bad investment from his team (which I agree with IF it was true, which it isn't). Anyone serious about starcraft needs to live in korea and clearly desrow is serious about it.

Huk already had several titles including an MLG before he went to Korea...
And the other guys either went to Korea for a short period of time or they came from teams with comparatively large budgets. EG paying for a player to go to Korea is not even close to the same as Legion doing the same. EG has a LOT more money so it doesn't hurt nearly as much. If Desrow's paying it's perfectly fine, but it would be a terrible move on his team's part if they covered his expenses.

By the way, what Gosu players went to Korea other than actual Koreans?

What a great opportunity for Desrow and a stupid move by LgN. I think Starcraft teams don't understand the purpose of an investment.

Edit: Desrow has a lot of fans because of his personality, not his skill level. By sending him to Korea you are isolating the majority of viewers from his stream. He obviously won't make it into Code A. This move just doesn't make sense. I hope Desrow views this as a vacation and doesn't train too hard in Korea.

I have to humbly disagree. desRow is paying the majority of this on his own, with support from Maxfrag (with little/no support from Legion). Korea server practice is often more interesting and attractive to stream viewers, and accompanied with his (hopefully) increased skill level will definitely draw attention.

He can play the Korean server from home. Korea is 17-14 hours ahead of us. So you're telling me he's going to modify his streaming schedule to only play at night, thereby removing all the benefit of playing on the Korean server?

Makes zero sense. If he's paying for this he should have paid for a vacation, not this.
