will he make masters on korea, thats the question.

EDIT: To elaborate more seriously, I have a feeling whomever is in charge of team LgN is seriously out of touch with the community. I think from a swift glance, seeing Desrow, a streamer who gets what, maybe 1k viewers at a time, and is in the highest league of sc2, one could assume he is actually really good. Furthermore, from a quick glance at the community, one could suppose that if you send someone to Korea, they become an insta-star. Neither of these assumptions are correct however - the only foreigners who have gone to Korea and met with legitimate success were people who already had strong results in foreign tourneys (Desrow has none). He will not do well in Korea, he will spend time on the Korean mid masters ladder, and then he will come home, no one but his stream viewers will notice the change or the trip and LgN will be several thousand dollars shorter.

This all said, I hope he proves me wrong and takes off and becomes a foreigner hope. I just can't see someone whom I've only heard of because he beat Incontrol and Idra with 4gates becoming something huge or worthy of a ticket to Korea. Sorry.

You're seriously a giant dick for posting this for basically no reason. Haven't you noticed that nearly every streamer has countless fans that mostly come out to support them? Look at the top left of the page. The vast majority of TL users aren't even logged in most of the time, and announcements about their favorite players are a great reason for them to come in and show support.

Good luck desRow. I admire your passion and dedication, and while I might not be appreciative of every trait about you, I hope you have a great time in Korea and improve a lot.

He obviously won't make it into Code A. This move just doesn't make sense. I hope Desrow views this as a vacation and doesn't train too hard in Korea.

I have to humbly disagree. desRow is paying the majority of this on his own, with support from Maxfrag (with little/no support from Legion). Korea server practice is often more interesting and attractive to stream viewers, and accompanied with his (hopefully) increased skill level will definitely draw attention.

I disagree, as a stream viewer I prefer NA play to KR - on NA I know who must of they players they hit are etc etc, whereas on Kor it's by enlarge some Hangul named guy. Not to mention I doubt desrow will get high enough on kr ladder to hit any big names.

I'm pretty confident that there's something fishy. The only people I've ever heard cheering on desRow are probably actually desRow.

Either way, GL to him, I will always support someone looking to become better at this game, even if they have some... issues.

Yeah I've noticed this a lot too, his usual response to it is that he has a lot of followers who are not really into teamliquid.
It still seems dodgy to me, anyway GL in korea.

The short of it: desRow has a lot of fans on his stream, we just hyped the announcement over there.
So obviously a lot of people will come and cheer him on - even make a new accoutn for that - .
If you guys are so adamant in finding out, by all means ask a mod to verify the IPs.
You can watch desRow streaming right this instant, so if he is able to make all these posts AND play at a GM level,
he has the most insane multi-task ability I have ever seen.

Back on-topic: Congratz Marc! I'm sure you'll improve greatly in South-Korea.
And thanks to everyone saying they like my banner <3

I agree, except the fact the he is playing at GM level. He is low GM on NA which by most players standards means he is well under GM level, maybe high master.

yeah i watched him stream few times and his macro slips literally every game (1000-2000 rescources at not even close to max), he doesn't use stargate play at all, etc, his forcefields are pretty bad. he's not bad overall but too many obvious flaws that need fixing before even dreaming about code a;)

Hmm ok first dont post things about people when ur facts r wrong. u probably watch his stream 3 months ago when yes his resource's did reach high levels and in fact he has been using stargate frequently beating meny top zergs with a phenox zelot play in general he has been do very well on the ladder as u can see not low GM http://www.sc2ranks.com/us/443514/VTdesRow and if u just watch his stream for 10mins u will see that his forcefields r sick resulting in him crushing opponents. and now if he spends 3 months in Korea he is only going to get better !

What's the point of a foreigner who isn't even good enough to defeat mid tier foreigners going to Korea? Seems pointless to me.

Maybe people need to start reading then. If you haven't noticed, he said he is going to korea to IMPROVE. His aim is to be in code A, notice how different that is from saying "I will be in code A next season" ? Everybody with big ambitions knows you need to have a semi-reachable goal, and Code A for Desrow is definitely reachable with enough practice and dedication.

Its kind of frustrating to read posts like this, the guy is so dedicated to the game and tries hard to improve himself but then people come and go..... well you're no Michael Jordan, might as well not even try. He's paying for most of the trip himself in order to improve, don't see why people are being so pessimistic about it. Its his money.

Guys, they are literally letting him live in the GOM house, but he has to pay for plane ticket($1000), food plane ticket back(that was 1-way 1k), sure he's not the most popular or the best, but that's why people follow him, he is appealing for the semi pro player that has devoted himself to getting better on his own, with no lessons or training with ANY other pros yet..... So yea Korea is going to be a waste for him to learn from Tod one of his respected elders and a legend on the scene, they both speak french I can't wait till he starts getting better makes Code A and all you guys are just like uh...., show a little support or don't flame him it's really un unnecessary when a guy has worked so hard making his trip purely on lesson and stream commercial money, I applaud him for doing this and will definitively be supporting him and also trying to improve my own game to get into gm next season, gl Marc show us what 1 year of training does :D

people will have an opinion, you kinda have to deal with that if you make posts like that here. and noone accused him of anything. you don't have to make excuses for him... like 1000 posters here shit on stephano for no apparent reason, guess what happens if desrow goes to korea;) you really don't need to complain, it was all civilized.

Detective tirentu, if you haven't noticed Nazgul posted in his previous thread and Chill posted in this one. I'm pretty certain they have already done IP checks and would of banned him if he was doing the self-promoting himself. Not to mention, he's been streaming for the past 2-4hours when this thread was posted. Kind of hard to make multiple accounts and play at the same time......

It won't be interesting to stream viewers unless Desrow can get high enough on the KR ladder to actually hit known Koreans. Otherwise, he'll just be losing to no-names that people don't care about at all, even if those no-names would be able to beat most NA "pros."

His skill level will undoubtedly increase, but to be honest he hasn't really shown any promise even in NA. All the other notable guys to head over to Korea were already big deals in their home regions. Desrow is no Naniwa or Sase. Either way this is ultimately good for Desrow even if it's a silly move on his team's part.

Sidenote: Desrow will be shockingly large for most Koreans.
