Is anyone even bashing him? The worst I've read is people writing they don't think the cost/benefit supports doing this.

That's not bashing. You don't always have to squeel whenever someone is doing anything for ESPORTS.

Look, I know that if I saved a up a ton of money to follow my dream to go to Korea, and then someone said they hoped I treated the stay like a vacation, I would be upset. It's rude and you're taking away his moment. Sure you're entitled to your opinion, but it probably would've been better if you hadn't made the comment in the first place.

At that time it wasn't announced that he was funding the trip. Why would a team announce that their player is going to Korea when they had zero involvement in it? I think it was fair to assume the team is involved. Had I known they weren't, I wouldn't have commented.

Destiny shouldn't even bother going to Korea huh?

When SC2 is your livelihood, it's going to help your career no matter what happens.

Is SC2 his livelihood, or is coaching and streaming his livelihood? I don't know what his salary is but I think it's safe to assume he makes his living from streaming and coaching which will be significantly adversely affected by going to Korea.

you're right, no one should have an opinion about anything ever because someone might get upset and have their moment ruined, shame on you Chill, why did you air an opinion about an announcement made by an sc2 team about one of their players? disgusting tbh

I am aware that I forgot to mention that I am covering most of the trip, I think it would of helped and remove most of the comments in this thread saying legion was making a bad move. I've been working 6months talking with almost every pro house to make this happen. I've been fortunate enough to come across maxfrag who will help me pay my plane ticket but we are still talking about 1000$+ of travel/otherstuff expenses. I've made the person posting the OP edit it to make it more obvious I am paying for almost everything.

Because the team is very excited about this opportunity. Also, desRow will likely be training with our korean line-up when he is there. "Zero involvement" is a pretty bad way to describe that...

You're a player with good potential DesRow, gl in Korea. I hope you find great success there

(also I believe this is the first time we've had a person actually paying for themselves to go to Korea to practice, am I wrong?)

I hope Desrow finds a team that appreciates the effort he is putting into making himself a better player and want to help support him! I mean, i dont kno the details maybe they arent in the position where they can help him but please... Dont misslead people for better attention on urself. Made you look so ugly in my eyes.

Players don't seem to have a problem streaming from Korea, unless it's in house practice. I think the whole "I'm playing with the best guys!" flare will help give his stream more recognition and more legitimacy (hopefully more viewers!).
Throw on your favorite jacket and you're good to roll. Stroll through the trees and let your miseries go.

He won't be playing with better players. Why do people think this?

He has not hit the roof of NA and EU. The roof on KR is much higher. He will simply be playing people the same skill level as the people he was hitting on NA, except better.

Think about it like a literal ladder. Desrow right now is climbing the NA ladder. He is on the 8th of 10 rungs. Pretty good, but their are still more rungs to climb. Now, on the other side of this huge fucking ocean theirs a ladder where people speak a different language have a hugely different culture etc, but their ladder goes up to the 15th rung (. Except Desrow wont be on that 15th rung. He will still be on the 8th. He will be playing exactly the same level of starcraft, except against Korean C Teamers instead of NA B teamers.

As I said in my previous post: we never intended to deceive anyone. Just really excited that des will be going to korea.
We will help him out any way we can during his stay (mostly our korean line-up can be of help to him).
I don't really see how the financials about the whole matter change the fact that Marc is going to Korea to practice.

The OP speaks of ToD and the other foreigners at the Gom.tv house, as well as our korean line-up.
How will he not be playing with better players?
