Destiny shouldn't even bother going to Korea huh?

When SC2 is your livelihood, it's going to help your career no matter what happens.

Is SC2 his livelihood, or is coaching and streaming his livelihood? I don't know what his salary is but I think it's safe to assume he makes his living from streaming and coaching which will be significantly adversely affected by going to Korea.

Going to ignore all the drama and say GL Desrow! Your dedication and work ethic seems to be beyond most foreigners, hopefully you can turn it into some sick skills!

Is anyone even bashing him? The worst I've read is people writing they don't think the cost/benefit supports doing this.

That's not bashing. You don't always have to squeel whenever someone is doing anything for ESPORTS.

Look, I know that if I saved a up a ton of money to follow my dream to go to Korea, and then someone said they hoped I treated the stay like a vacation, I would be upset. It's rude and you're taking away his moment. Sure you're entitled to your opinion, but it probably would've been better if you hadn't made the comment in the first place.

you're right, no one should have an opinion about anything ever because someone might get upset and have their moment ruined, shame on you Chill, why did you air an opinion about an announcement made by an sc2 team about one of their players? disgusting tbh

What the fuck are you talking about?

I told him it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, and he should treat it as such - focusing on experiencing a foreign country as opposed to sitting in a room grinding ladder all day. I wrote that when I thought his team was funding the trip. Now that I know he's funding the trip himself, I've stopped saying that and hope he can accomplish his goals, while still wondering if it was a smart move.

Fuck off calling me disgusting for not blindly and mindlessly dropping a "GL !!! FIGHTING!!!" comment. I do wish him the best as risking your own money is way more commendable than only risking your own time. I'm simply thinking out loud if it was the best choice.

Just wanted to say I've read most of this thread and have to agree with Chill on every aspect.

Nobody is making fun or talking shit on Desrow for going to Korea. I don't even think Major understands the logic here.

It's kind of a joke for LgN to be sending him to Korea. This is on par with the Spades move, IMO. These players aren't even top 20 in the NA "scene/server." I understood/agreed with the Drewbie to Korea, well because he was top 16 in most of the MLG's and actual won some series vs other top players. Has Desrow even been to any MLGs? I don't think so.

There is no way LgN is going to get a good ROI on this move or any ROI at all. That's what the discussion is here.

In addition, somewhat off topic but true... from what LS (lastshadow) says you need to be fairly attractive for the general people to be nice to you there. Not trying to personally insult desrow however Koreans will have no respect for an overweight NA foreigner. He probably won't like going outside much, however it looks like that's his lifestyle at the moment. Just being honest.

i love how u say u read everything yet u still think LgN is sending him

Oh they're not? I just assumed. I also saw multiple posts from other people make those claims as well. I'm certainly not the first in this thread to assume that then.

Then it's simply Desrow wasting his money. Sure go for fun, try to be a better player. However anyone that knows him knows his skill isn't up to par. It's really that simple.

If LgN isn't sending him, then its actually a win for them because they don't have to pay any money for the Korea exposure. (Even though I think they have a KR division anyways)

Please use ur head. desrow makes money from SC and streaming you dont think by him going to korea and fully commiting himsef wont g et him more of a followinG? and eventually more money? have you read how long he will be staying yet? Months. and months. watch him get drastically better and a succesful team want to have him be apart of there team. The only arguement i think you really have is if you know desrow pretty well and think hes better off doing something else with his time. But way i see it is hes still going to be streaming and more then likely still coaching. So if his following grows. WHAT DO U KNO, so does his wallet.

After everything that has been posted in this thread - i actually think you have achieved the dumbest post. Have you read anything that has happened? Because if you had i don't believe a single sentence in your post is relevant.

edit: just saw your other post

Best of luck desrow - while i would tend to agree with Chill's position, as well as not really appreciating the personality you have demonstrated on this forum, i still hope you achieve your goals and get everything you want from this trip.

You can't deny there's a lot of "Meh, don't think he's good enough to make it into Code A"

That's not too big insult since Code A is difficult but it is still an insult and it is negative.

I'm not planning on going to Korea and training at the moment but if I was I'd hope that I wouldn't get the kind of reception desrow is getting in this thread. The man hopefully knows his own skill level and made a tough call. That's guts and heart yo! I think he's got a chance at Code A. Hooray him for having the confidence to leap at it.

Korea is no different from anywhere else: You need to be likeable to be liked. The big difference is that appearance is more of a factor in your likeability as a man in Korea than in Canada. Being an overweight foreigner in Korea can make it difficult to make friends, but it's not impossible to overcome it with charisma.

At least, this is what I found when I was there.

lol you guy didn't have to go there, ouch.

btw. not trying to downgrade having a pony tail. But if you see destinys crowed at any MLG he weirdly has 20 people in it that have pony tails at any given time at every MLG.

it's not an insult

just like saying idra is short is not an insult either. it's being realistic

grab a better-than-average random chick from the street, try to squeeze her into some sexy dress, and throw her into a miss asia beauty competition. i feel like desrow fans are expecting everyone to cheer like "go baby! you'll win the competition!"

If it works out, it's fine, if it doesn't work out it's just as fine. In the latter case merely some money and time lost while chasing a dream and the ability to say you did try and gave everything you had.
Good luck Desrow.

Because playing in one tournament over a weekend does not improve your skill as much as playing in korea around better players for months. Do you understand now?

Thanks for the discussion Rocker.

I don't understand this. Why not just save those money so that you can travel to large US or EU events and try to show something there, instead of wasting your money on being roflstomped in Korea?

Because playing in one tournament over a weekend does not improve your skill as much as playing in korea around better players for months. Do you understand now?

But why spend so much money to be better, when he haven't even reached his max where he is now?

It's like a baby trying to run before it can walk.

Thats pretty dead on. Koreans in general tie health together with the type of person they are in a way. Its more of a cultural thing rather than being superficial. When someone is fat, they think they don't take care of themselves (also not a desirable trait in korea) and the opposite for being skinny. Lets be honest, some laugh at fat ppl lol
