Ps: Make Chill eat his words GSL Code S March, Desrow incoming He won't be playing with better players. Why do people think this? He has not hit the roof of NA and EU. The roof on KR is much higher. He will simply be playing people the same skill level as the people he was hitting on NA, except better. Think about it like a literal ladder. Desrow right now is climbing the NA ladder. He is on the 8th of 10 rungs. Pretty good, but their are still more rungs to climb. Now, on the other side of this huge fucking ocean theirs a ladder where people speak a different language have a hugely different culture etc, but their ladder goes up to the 15th rung (. Except Desrow wont be on that 15th rung. He will still be on the 8th. He will be playing exactly the same level of starcraft, except against Korean C Teamers instead of NA B teamers. !!! my frustration with this thread grows every time I open it
i dont agree with this at all. Playing koreans every single game will indeed be much better practice. Like seriously..... Thats like saying playing with NBA stars is the same as playing with WNBA stars even tho im not as good as neither might as well play with WNBA stars till im as good as them then go to practicing with NBA stars. You see more tricks you are forced to play faster and quite frankly he will lose a lot more. Imo going to korea is a huge shortcut on bettering urself.
For those non sports fan.... 1 WNBA star can dunk. 98% in the NBA can dunk.

1. Good luck over there. Even if you don't blow away the GSL, you'll get significantly better to crush in foreign tournies.
2. Legion has a badass logo.

WOW why are all these people shitting on desrow. Although desrow hasn't gone to international events it doesn't mean its not because hes not good enough, its because unless you win there isn't enough exposure (ie polt a couple of MLGs ago a GSL player but he didn't get any games casted if i remember correctly). When someone is good enough to take games of white ra, violet, Major, dragon, TLO, and more. If he's good enough to do that now spending 2+ months in a pro gaming house in korea is going escalating him to a world class player. You had better start watching Code A to see the manner bear mauling people.

You don't always have to squeel whenever someone is doing anything for ESPORTS. It's rude and you're taking away his moment. Sure you're entitled to your opinion, but it probably would've been better if you hadn't made the comment in the first place. you're right, no one should have an opinion about anything ever because someone might get upset and have their moment ruined, shame on you Chill, why did you air an opinion about an announcement made by an sc2 team about one of their players? disgusting tbh What the fuck are you talking about?
I told him it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, and he should treat it as such - focusing on experiencing a foreign country as opposed to sitting in a room grinding ladder all day. I wrote that when I thought his team was funding the trip. Now that I know he's funding the trip himself, I've stopped saying that and hope he can accomplish his goals, while still wondering if it was a smart move.
Fuck off calling me disgusting for not blindly and mindlessly dropping a "GL !!! FIGHTING!!!" comment. I do wish him the best as risking your own money is way more commendable than only risking your own time. I'm simply thinking out loud if it was the best choice.

Hey desrow: I don't like you. Your blog post about you beating professional players on the ladder -- particularly Idra -- were childish. But it's obvious plowing forward, and trying to become a better player. Also, you're doing your best to become forum name.
Regarding your decision to go to Korea, I think it's silly. You're ability to rapidly switch screens and process situations is very bad, and whenever you stream your keyboard and hands, it's obvious you finger speed is lacking. You're not exceptionally dedicated; it's not like you've been tipping back redbulls and pushing yourself through fourteen hour training sessions. And finally, I think you're too sensitive, and you'll become homesick. You constantly dismiss and laugh at "haters," putting forward confident persona, but I believe that's you compensating for insecurity. You don't have the skills to succeed in Korea.
All that a given, I really do respect you for making this attempt. Imagine if you train hard and become one of the top players. Think about all the players who have laughed at you. Think about Incontrol and Idra, and how insulted you on talk shows. Think about the different posters and moderators who've mocked you. Wouldn't it be a peach to meet Catz and Destiny on the ladder and let it slip that you've been invited to a Dreamhack? Or a Gom tournament?
Long sigh. That won't happen. You'll fail. The Koreans are too good. You'll come home. And you'll make a vague reference to an undisclosed personal or contractual problem that was purportedly the catalyst for your return (instead of the real reason: "I'm not good enough.").
That said, I'm rooting for you!

Just wanted to say I've read most of this thread and have to agree with Chill on every aspect.
Nobody is making fun or talking shit on Desrow for going to Korea. I don't even think Major understands the logic here.
It's kind of a joke for LgN to be sending him to Korea. This is on par with the Spades move, IMO. These players aren't even top 20 in the NA "scene/server." I understood/agreed with the Drewbie to Korea, well because he was top 16 in most of the MLG's and actual won some series vs other top players. Has Desrow even been to any MLGs? I don't think so.
There is no way LgN is going to get a good ROI on this move or any ROI at all. That's what the discussion is here.
In addition, somewhat off topic but true... from what LS (lastshadow) says you need to be fairly attractive for the general people to be nice to you there. Not trying to personally insult desrow however Koreans will have no respect for an overweight NA foreigner. He probably won't like going outside much, however it looks like that's his lifestyle at the moment. Just being honest.

I'm near certain that Desrow understands the position of his career better than anyone in this thread, and while I do not believe he is near the skill level required to compete in Code A, if he is willing to put in the dedication and work required to get there during a prolonged stay in korea, why would we be critical of that? I wish Desrow the best, and I hope he does well in Korea.

Desrow fighting!
Everyone should be excited at Desrow having the opportunity to travel over to Korea and train. Considering Desrow's footing most of the bill, he's worked out it's a good thing for him to take a shot at. Let the man go chase his dream. If he makes it we can make a great Disney Starcraft movie.

Hmm my thoughts.
1. Props to you for attempting it. 2. But I think it will be a waste of time, as there is a skill level that you must have in order for Korea to actually be beneficial and not just the same as the NA ladder, and I do not believe Desrow is at that skill level.
gl hf, I guess

Oh they're not? I just assumed. I also saw multiple posts from other people make those claims as well. I'm certainly not the first in this thread to assume that then.
Then it's simply Desrow wasting his money. Sure go for fun, try to be a better player. However anyone that knows him knows his skill isn't up to par. It's really that simple.
If LgN isn't sending him, then its actually a win for them because they don't have to pay any money for the Korea exposure. (Even though I think they have a KR division anyways)

The big difference is that appearance is more of a factor in your likeability as a man in Korea than in Canada. Being an overweight foreigner in Korea can make it difficult to make friends, but it's not impossible to overcome it with charisma.
At least, this is what I found when I was there.

Seriously dude? Desrow knows he's big. He's making a conscious effort to lose weight. I've been watching this guy stream for a couple months now and everything about him is getting better. His game, his manner and his lifestyle choice. Like everyone, he has issues and problems he needs to deal with it - unlike everyone - he's actually doing something about it. He's following his dream, despite all the shit everyone is throwing at him.
Good luck to you Desrow! I'm looking forward to continue watching your stream.
PS: Yes, I'm one of the guys with hardly any posts on this forum. It doesn't mean I don't read the forums, or that I am somehow a Desrow spy. Sigh.
