Wait, is the account that google translates to Pringles (프링글스) him? If so, that's super impressive. He's been hovering around the top of the Korean ladder forever O_O Maybe he can actually show a good finals against MVP.

For some reason I'd always thought that was July's account.

I don't think July has ever showed a playstyle consistent enough to top ladders. He's got sick BoX play but I don't think his standard is DRG level (which the Pringles account has had a similar winrate/ranking to). Ladder is ladder, though.

It's probably his I guess, there aren't any zergs in the top 20 that I don't recognize other than 'Pringles'

There's no contradiction. He thinks EU/NA players are better than Chinese players in general, but didn't expect them to be that strong.

There's no way he's ranked top 20 in the Korea ladder, because all you do is turtle 3bases with Mech or Protoss and push him and he instant dies. Really don't like him at all, nor do I think he deserves to be in the finals.

Also Pringles is DRG not XiGua or July.

Edit - In fact any time I ever ran into him he was 50% ladder and just all-in's roach/ling/baneling shenanigans.

"E-sports": Are the western (European and American) players as strong as you expected?
iG.Xigua: To be honest, I never expected them to be that strong. Deep down from my heart, I do think there's a skill gap between Western players and Chinese players (PS:he's implying that Europeans+Americans are better). I am extremely impressed by their skills this event, and they also have a different understanding of the game.

I speak Chinese and I've read the original interview and I assure you that this part is incorrectly translated. The part in the parenthesis should be him implying (in his thoughts) that EU+AM players are weaker than the Chinese players. In Chinese, when you say 'there is a difference/skill gap between the X and Y players' it actually means X < Y, and in this case in his interview X=EU+AM and Y=CN.

This is by no means my opinion. I'm just trying to translate the interview answer correctly.

I think the OP's translation is off on this part. Strictly grammatically speaking, what he wrote can be interpreted either way, He said that a gap (difference in skill) exists between the Europe/America and China without clarifying which side is on the better end of the gap but generally if he wants to say that Europe/America are better, he will say that Europe/America have an advantage, most Chinese(Mainland at least) would infer from context and history (brood war) that he meant China is better.

I'm so glad that we live in a world where tournaments run on the basis of "which player do most people think deserves to be in the finals", and placing the player with the highest votes in the final.

Instead of, you know, letting them compete for a spot. That would obviously get underserving player like Xigua into the finals just because he's winning games.

He deserves it in a bo1 format coped with a bo3 format later on, over people like IdrA, Huk, SuperNova, Marineking, ToD, etc? His run of opponents was laughable and his style itself is what saved him in the bo1 groupstages.

EDIT - To further elaborate all chinese players had a super advantage in this tournament (bo1/bo3) because they're completely unknown for the most part (style/playwise) and the way they were all playing except for MacSed was super abusive. Out of the few people I've talked to only a few knew XiGua as the super all-in Zerg I described him as before, if this isn't an abusive advantage that was only propelled by WCG's shitty system this year, idk what is.

Btw, the correct translation is: I never knew they were this good. I originally thought there is a skill gap between Foreign players and Chinese players (In this case, "there is a gap" is a phrase in China that means the former is inferior to the latter. Therefore he meant that he thought foreign players aren't as good as Chinese players).

To be honest though, I don't really know where he got the confidence, because Chinese pro scenenis the most isolated community of all, much more so than the Korean one. And they don't have much chance to compete with foreign players at all. Most players don't participate because logistic reasons, and the fact that their sponsors dont care about foreign exposure.

Most Chinese pros practice on KR servers though, I know several of them having GM accounts in KR server. With that kind of practice and playing full time, it is only reasonable that they have someone on the level of Idra/Huk.

I think it was from BW, where it was correct to say that China was better (if only slightly) than the West.

U have no idea at all.

ANyone who have seen Xigua play in tournaments before would know that hes gonna do very well at WCG. If he gets the same chance like your NA idols Idra and Huk, he`ll probably post better results than them.

So stop being such a freaking fan boy and get butthurt cos the players ur rooting for crash out early. If its true that uve been speaking to ppl who knew Xigua, they obviously arent very smart judging for the information they gave you. As far as i know the communities in TW, CN and SEA seems to agree that he would have no trouble making it outta his group and go far in this tournament regardless of the format.

So those two top Zerg accounts in Korean GM (Pringles and DongRaeGuProS) are both DRG?

You have no idea what you are talking about and you show zero respect to XiGua's opponents. Kas beat Huk and MKP, Titan beat Supernova and they are laughable? And it's not up to you to decide who deserves to be in the final.

Plus, laddering doesn't mean anything at all, I watched XiGua's matches against Kas, Happy, Titan and MVP, there is no "all-in" as you described. If you are implying you are better than XiGua, prove yourself in some major tournaments and get top 3, you have been in Korea for months, I wish to see you get paid for your effort (if any), seriously.
