Thought some Chinese member is going to translate it yesterday but there isn't. Not to mention that the Chinese SC2 players need some love!

Link to the interview (In Chinese): http://sc2.plu.cn/interviews/2011-12-10/37217.html

Xigua's interview from a Chinese magazine named "E-sports" after his RO4 win against Titan

^ lol I thought it was a Jesus pose

"E-sports": Please summarize your path to the finals
iG.Xigua: I had a ZvZ in the round of 16, a ZvZ against F91 in the Round of 8, and a ZvP in the semi-finals. My first series was the toughest one, I've made many mistakes but my opponent made even more mistakes and allowed me to comeback. I also struggled a little against F91, because F91 is such a skilled player. I was able to take the series by exerting my full potential and some luck. In my final series against the Protoss. He went for a 1 gas expand, which is extremely vulrenable to Zergling rush but rewards him with an economic advantage, I rushed him and took the first game. In game 2, he went for the exact opening in game 1. I realized that he's not going to make the same mistake twice so I went for a macro game instead. After I found out that he's taking third base with Stalkers and Immortals, I went for a timing attack with Roaches, Zerglings and Banelings and took him out.

"E-sports": You are playing against MVP tomorrow, what are your thoughts?
iG.Xigua: To be honest, my ZvT still has some flaws that needs to fixed. However I've thought of facing MVP ever since the first day since I have to prepare against Korean Terrans for this event. I just didn't expect the other two to be eliminated and that I have to face a Korean Terran in the finals. As for MVP, I've prepared some special strategies against him so I'll do my best!

"E-sports": You have never lost a single game on your way to the finals. What are the reasons behind it?
iG.Xigua: I think that I'm in a good shape at the moment. I also play better in offline tournaments and get nervous in online tournaments. I can't even explain why. I'm never nervous in offline events because I'm not happy until I win the event.

"E-sports": Xiaose (Chinese commentator of NeoTV, the channel that braodcasts GSL in China) said that you play about 80 games per day and that you have a smurf account that's ranked #1 in the Korean server. Is that true?
iG.Xigua: 80 games is a bit too much, that will be kind of ridiculous (laughs), I play between 40-60 games per day in average and 80 games maximum. I also do have a smurf account and it's currently ranked top 20 in the Korean ladder

"E-sports": Chinese players have performed pretty well at this event, what are the reasons?
iG.Xigua: I think maps are a huge factor, Map pools in Chinese tournaments are very weird. Since we've never played on IEM and MLG maps we end up losing a lot in these maps. However WCG map pool has many comon ladder maps such as Metalopolis. I also feel that that the 3 qualifiying players from China are offline-type players.

"E-sports": Are the western (European and American) players as strong as you expected?
iG.Xigua: To be honest, I never expected them to be that strong. Deep down from my heart, I do think there's a skill gap between Western players and Chinese players (PS:he's implying that Europeans+Americans are better). I am extremely impressed by their skills this event, and they also have a different understanding of the game.

"E-sports": Sky lost his match today, does that affect you at all? What do you have to say about it?
iG.Xigua: Not really, I however feel pity for Sky since he's only 1 game away from his third title.

"E-sports": Shoutout for the finals.
iG.Xigua: I'll display my full strength!

I can't really think of a scarier SC2 situation than to be up against MVP in internationally watched finals. Good luck to Xigua, but I honestly don't see him winning this.

He's probably going to end up being tank fodder but I would love to see him challenge MVP enough to create some entertaining matches at least.

Train of thought. He says he didn't expect them to be this good, but having now seen them in action at WCG, he thinks that they're better than Chinese players.

Honestly, I'm expecting 2x rushes roach/ling/baneling if he says that. Also interesting, but it seems like chinese and foreigners are separated so we have western, china, and korea as the 3 divisions of sc2.

That's funny. In BW, the scene was split into foreigner, Chinese, and Korean.

I still remember the thread debating "Are Chinese foreigners?" and Tastosis and Idra agreeing in some random interview video that Chinese don't count as foreigners.

Thanks for the translation. Fascinating that Xigua gets nervous at online events but not live events. I think he's the first progamer I've ever heard to actually say that. Hopefully Xigua, and to a lesser extent F91 and Macsed, having success will help SC2's popularity in China. Hopefully now that people know who he is Xigua can get some more invites to international tournaments.

All I'm gonna say on watermelon zergs is that the last one got a golden mouse so if xigua wins this the conclusion is clear, the secret to zerg is not macro, it's not control, it's not game plan it's how much can you link yourselves to watermelons.

Wait, is the account that google translates to Pringles (프링글스) him? If so, that's super impressive. He's been hovering around the top of the Korean ladder forever O_O Maybe he can actually show a good finals against MVP.

That's pretty rash, you can't get to the top of the Korean ladder with straight up all-ins. I'd expect some nice timing attacks (that transition) instead.

For some reason I'd always thought that was July's account.

I don't think July has ever showed a playstyle consistent enough to top ladders. He's got sick BoX play but I don't think his standard is DRG level (which the Pringles account has had a similar winrate/ranking to). Ladder is ladder, though.

This. Would be awesome to see him in more international tournaments. Let's hope he gets his Visa stuff sorted.
