MVP also commented that he could easily be Code S. I would not say best foreigner but somewhere in top 5, and I am no Stephano fan.

Someone could translate the DRG interview please ? And funny to hear MVP opinion as well...

I lost because I made a mistake....wow, well that is the core of any game, you win because you do less mistakes than your opponent And if he thinks Stephano play is invariant, he should watch again the IPL3 final against Lucky, where he did maybe 3 different openings in 4 games

DRG is not entirely wrong in the sense Stephano often privileges a style over another in one matchup, but he is able to vary and adapt his builds / timings and to play them perfectly, otherwise he wouldn't keeping winning doing the same builds.
And he is able to play different builds, (he was actually well-known in Europe 6 months ago to roll over terrans using a lings / blings / muta style with clever baneling burrows for example xD) but he doesn't do it very often, maybe to keep them as an element of surprise, or maybe because he doesn't feel comfortable playing them, especially in a bo1 (thanks again, GSL !)

I think its still a toss-up who the best foreigner might be but in terms of pure talent I´d say Stephano has the lead.
Naniwa is also very talented but I would forget about Idra and HuK.

What has gotten HuK some impressive wins is all the hard work he has put into the game and Idra is great cause he has a lot of experience.

Different openings doesnt change your Playstyle and how u think while playing.

we saw with boxer and SC (and now MVP) what happens if they figure out his style.

Yeah, and MKP thought he was prepared at ESWC, with the result we know...
I could say that Stephano was tired and played sloopy at the MLG, and that MVP is just a better player and this had nothing to do with playstyle, and there would be some truth in my statements as well.

It's like chess, every player has his style, and depending on metagame / game balance / preparation / previous matches a player has a slight edge over the other, which may be reversed the day after. To keep the chess comparison, you've rarely if ever seen Petrossian play like Kasparov or vice versa, both were very well known for their (complete opposite) playstyle, yet they both managed to be world champions.

"Stephano's style" is constantly evolving, he keeps experimentating again and again. It's nothing like Idra's style who got a pretty solid zvt that is extremely refined but is exactly the same as 6months ago.

In like a 3 months spans in zvt, I've seen him swtich from ling+infestors to pure lings (after infestor nerf) to roach lings, to roach lings infestors, to lings infestors fast ultra.
HIs other matchup have also been involving.

It's true that he doesn't make mutalisk or bannelings very often (he can play it really well too, but probably not as well as someone who goes muta every game). But It really makes sense for Stephano not to make bannelings/mutalisks, those units don't take advantage of his greatest strenghts :
- mutlitasking
- army splitting
- map awareness.

Mutalisk and bannelings are units that you don't split. If you fight with half your army, your bannelings will most likely not connect, and how often have you seen someone split muta ?

Stephano's style is unique, nobody plays like him. But it's not because it isn't solid, it's just because he is the only one who can play like that. He just can control more stuff than everyone else.

Stephano has been taking advange of his originality. But, I doubt he will ever be "figured out" like some people seems to be thinking. Even if people find specific response against him, it doesn't mean he won't be able to adapt. In the end, as long as a player has the mechanics and the game sense, he should remain extremely good.

The thing Stephano is probably misssing is top level practice partners. Team millinium really doesn't have anyone good enough.

He won't be staying there for very long. Only for the duration of Blizzcup.

-Edit- At least to my knowledge. He finds the system for GSL to be off-putting.

You cant even compare them.

IEM China?
IPL 1?
MLG?
ASUS?

I'm not even an Idra fan anymore but now you're just making up bullshit. (Btw Stephano has been on the scene for quite some time, he just couldn't win anything until recently. In fact he was participating in tournaments as November of 2010)

Just because IPL3 had 6x the prizepool of other tournaments does not mean it was 6x as difficult. (In fact it was probably a lot weaker than HuK's MLG and on par with IEM China)

Honestly Stephano fanboys are just as bad as Idra fanboys nowadays it seems. Why do I even bother talking to either of them -.-

All the tournaments you listed were US only, or just filled with very bad players.
IEM China was a joke with only 5 decent players.
The only decent tournament he did good was Asus ROG were he beats sjow, white ra and select. Very impressive ...

You cant be serious.

Fucking retard.
Idra beat Boxer, Hongun, and Bomber at the last MLG. Stephano got beaten by Boxer. Who did stephano beat are you asking? Vibe and Drewbie, IMPRESSIVE.
Not to mention beating Puma and Sheth at previous MLGs.

Normally I don't do this shit, but your stupidity and ignorance drove me to log on and reply to this.

Calm down and get your facts straight. Last MLG Idra only won two maps the entire event, it was a complete failure for him.
I can no longer rest under the tree of wisdom, since you have axed down the roots feeding it.

Stephano is better than Idra. Stephano has had realr esults and has won way more than Idra, while Idra whines about balance issues and loses to everything, also only doing 2 base muta forever it seems..

Idra is better than Stephano. Idra has accomplished more impressive things, and stayed among the best even with such a ridicolously stubborn style. Stephano pretty much dodge the big guns at IPL3, and got beaten by Boxer in macro games. See where I'm getting at?

Give it a few more fucking months before speaking bullshit -.-'

*reads the Stephano entry on liquidpedia*
So.... Let me get this straigth, we are comparing this guy with people like Nestea; MVP; DongRaeGu; IdrA; HuK; MC; MMA... While he barely clashed with them? Good going lots!

Now that i got my sarcasm out of the way, let me give my own opinion. I agree, Stephano is a good zerg. We can't deny that he probably eats ladder as every meal and is still hungry after it. And we certainly can't deny that he got some huge hype behind him. But guy's, we are comparing a player who broke out only a bit more then 6 months ago! Yes he has an interesting game play, yes, he's constantly evolving... But hey! So is EVERYONE! But lets be honest... Has Stephano really earned the title of worlds best player? Has he really earned the title of the Foreigners best player? My answer on both is loud and resounding NO. The few results that he earned are in my opinion not enough to decide that! Yes he did great in IPL, but he got beaten a week later by the same dude he defeated... A week! If you have to travel from one spot to another, i don't really think you got enough time to get better in a week.

Now, just let me take this from the original poster:
- mutlitasking
- army splitting
- map awareness.
Those are his greatest strength? Newsflash lads! Thats the greatest strength almost ANY PRO needs to be any close to succesfull... We've seen it with HerO vs Sen. Sen lacks of on map awareness and he loses. (can be biased because i was rooting for Sen)

And lets be honest, how long is the scene going to stay like it is right now? I guess not long with that the BW Pro's are going to join us here in SC2 (If i remember well).

So lets just all take a deep breath, take a step back and watch it objectively. Are the results clear enough to prove what is being thrown around? No! We need to wait a few more months, let him fight there in GSL and the other tourny before we say that he's the #1.

Blame me, flame me all you want, i've said my piece. My own personal opinion is that he's an overhyped player with some skill that hasn't proven enough for the hype he gets. And that will probably be my opinion until he has proven he is worth being up there with IdrA; leenock and them other one's.

Hope you all have a wonderfull evening!

cheers

Drakey!

People now only register to try to bash on a player, hate him or love him at least he is getting very popular.

Your post history says it all.

Yeah, that's even worse. You see all these retarded fanboys with 2 posts just spewing out line after line after line with bullshit about one another. At least use your legit account, and take the ban like a man =_=

This is my real account, and why would should i get banned for posting my personal thoughts on a player? This isn't Stephano's fanpage. Look I'm just saying this thread shouldn't be here. There are hundreds of better players who don't get the attention Stephano is getting.

Hope you all have a wonderfull evening!

cheers

Drakey!

I thougth you post was well writen until I realised it was fictions when you consider Leenock and Idra in the same level range.

But you good you should try to get a job at Fox news tbh
