Gus Didn't really admit anything what's really happened on Stream he literally only said he apoligizes for the Production Quality Etc.

But Somehow from his demeanour and disposition i could gather that he was exactly what i found out he was; a Con-Artist, a Thief, Liar, Deceiver and many many many Bad things i want to say but can't say on TL

He realised he had to make an apology but didn't really own up to any of the Shit Storm that Happened behind the Scenes.

I guess that would be kind-of inappropriate because of akwardness at a tournament setting though.

I Honestly hope he never gets to run a Tournament again after seeing the Bull Shit he pulled and got away with.

Sorry I'm just bothered by your last post, Philippines has the capability to host this kind of events. The infrastructure problems that you are referring to is the result of poor preparation and planning of one clan/team, and right now unsung heroes are out there in that tournament are trying to make it happen. Please do not include the entire country because of one clan/team's fault.

I don't mean to be rude about about this post.

I am from the Phils. I have an ISP connection of 1.5mpbs, but you know what my upload speed is maxed? 200kbps. To run the event as a televised/recorded/VOD event is feasible. That is granted, but how to we compensate for the streams really? especially those that want to view quality streams at 720p or 1080p? I quite frankly believe this is very difficult for PH internet.

Case in point, we have DVR CCTV cameras here. If we had the proper internet infrastructure, it should be fairly easy to view the contents of the DVR or the real time videos without log at 24fps or 30fps. But sadly that is not the case, even with a dedicated business line. If this can't be done, how are we supposed to support the streaming capabilities or needs?

Please note that most of these DVR CCTV Cams record at just 480p or "VCD" quality and it is still proving difficult.

I am not questioning the capabilities of Filipinos to run the event, but when it comes to making it international through the web, it's a whole different matter.

And the best example is PLDT. It is the largest TELCO here is the philippines and it also operates the largest mobile network service provide SMART. It provides for wired and wireless internet service but is it consistent? consistent enough to host a high profile event of the caliber that is expected of us?

How was the stream for the WCG by Mineski? Stream quality? I wasn't able to watch it.

Ragnarok is an online game so I it requires internet connection.
Dude streaming is not a problem, there are tons of tools available. Have you been on Philippine H2H? every weekends? sometimes folks does live stream of that H2H with no problem. You don't need fancy equipment or super fast internet connection speed to run an event all you need is a good management, plan, coordination and a unselfish team who are dedicated with the game.

Haven't seen H2H events, but as for Mineski's event, how was the stream? At what quality was the live stream? 480p, 720p or 1080p without any lag issues?

Also, what is the H2H event of? Ragnarok?

Not to hate on Mineski; but the stream was really bad. The game audio was too loud overpowering the casters voice (they were also using old school mics instead of good quality headsets) and stream quality was below 480p. The live event went pretty well tho it seems.

I think the local internet is good enough for a decent 720 stream. When people set them up at home or somewhere they are familiar with, but on venues (inside shopping malls) its tends to be a problem.

Yeah, the ISP trunk line has to be huge. They can route it to a venue and bring in enough cable to give you a massive amount of bandwidth. The Phillipines isn't a bunch of huts on stilts.

Yes, I think it is possible, but the problem is I think no one here is going to do it because of the overhead costs. It is still a business and it will hurt the bottom line immediately when they are not so sure that they can recoup it.

I am also asking the quality of streamed events from the Philippines. If we expect the community to watch us, we should give them quality streams/videos that they can watch in their TVs, so the minimum requirements is around 720p for DVD quality streams or higher. But no one has given me an answer yet of this actually being done.

This is an international tournament shown to an international community, not via cable TV but through the internet, do we have actual proof that we can stream 720p or higher in any event in the Philippines (as a live stream)?

Also, once you have it within a mall, it's immediately known that you won't be running a dedicated cable to give you the allocated bandwidth you need, you'd just be tapping to the existing infrastructure of the building. If it were an events venue the SMX or WTC then that is an entirely different matter.

Oh and events here would most likely opt for DSL lines and not cable internet eventhough cable should be better but more expensive. So that's my take on it.

Your statement is the reality I was talking about/mentioning. Given the location of where Mineski held the event, I doubt it was a dedicated line. Perhaps they tapped into a spare phone line the mall had so it was a DSL connection and a business line. But the internet here really fluctuates. My peak speed is 1.5mbps here, but I drop as low as 0.3mbps and I deem that lucky, others drop down to zero. I know what I'm talking about here.

Priority here is also download speed/bandwidth compared to upload. Like I mentioned in my previous post, my upload speed is only 200kbps-300kbps eventhough my total bandwidth is 1.5mbps as "advertised".

The infrastructure can be placed to make HD/HQ streams viewable for the world, but quite frankly, local event organizers won't pony up that cost because there is no guarantee they can/will recoup it. And even if there is a chance to recoup it, as a business man, they may opt to simply go with a "regular" connection option to increase profitability.

Sad but true, don't you agree?

I remember when people where complaining about the NASL, mostly due their production quality and Xeris' tendency to be a bit of a jackass on the message boards.

The difference is, the NASL was never actually -- y'know -- corrupt. They ran a fair tournament with consistent rules and paid out a shit-ton of money.

So they had inadequate equipment and internet necessary to play the game and at a bad time for the event.

Seems like some entity became a fall mugu to some dark skinned dude by canceling the flights and swapped other people in place... and the Hon money magically disappeared...?

Also to add the Prize Pool isn't even known alot of different numbers were suggested implying that money may have been pilfered by Gus too?

"I don't think anyone actually knows what the prize money is. Some AZK guys were arguing with me yesterday in SC2SEA chat, saying that the prize money is $7,000-$9,000 USD. But at that very same moment, Allyn was quizzing the crowd live on stream, announcing that the prize is $2,000 USD. So I dunno."

exactly, even tons of Dota events, Ragnarok tournaments, Counter Strike tournaments. It's all because of poor management and planning of some selfish dudes.

Well, CS, DOTA and Ragnarok have a means where you don't need to connect online in order to play and therefore, the burden to show/broadcast them from just 1 spectator/server PC is quite feasible as you just need to give 1 PC internet connectivity, unlike SC2 which requires all PCs to have internet functionality and connectivity to play SC2.

They were streaming SC2 games just fine. It wasn't high quality, but it's certainly better than this. I agree that we have crap net though simply because we have crap net.

While at the same time; It's Disgusting that they have to be involved/associated with such a Fiasco.

This kind-of thing should never happen; Such an embarrassment and awkward for all people involved.
