Protoss needs an upgrade advantage to be competitive for the most part. This is a step in making that easier, so they don't get rolled so easily. Still, a fast upgrade style for zerg or terran is really freaking hard to deal with as toss.

I'm not sure I like the weapons/armor upgrade cost reduction. Shield is an okay move but I think this will just promote more 2base +2attack timing attacks from protoss and not much more.

I understand the EMP nerf, but I personally think the protoss skill ceiling should be raised in addition to these buffs in order to make them less one-sided (obviously this is kind of a pointless suggestion since I wouldn't know how to do that). People complain about a-move all the time, but its really just bad game design on the protoss side. Shield is a completely understandable cost reduction though. It costed so much for so little.

I guess I won't really say anything until the patch gets released, but I personally find it still difficult to get wins off of heavy zealot-archon-templar builds even when I have ghosts, since archons are doing a lot of damage, and if you miss 1 or 2 templar with EMP, storm still deals enormous damage to biocentric armies (microing out of it or not).

These seem like really good changes. Still think that Snipe is a bit too good, but nerfing EMP is also a very nice thing.

So if you open ffe->stargate play->6 gate or something along those lines does it make more sense to get shield then weapon upgrade now? Who knows how to do the math on this?

Yeah, having 50/50 more available for you will really make that timing attack so much better.

I think the upgrade changes are good, it will allow protoss to get a fair amount of upgrades without spending all their gas since they have such gas heavy units

@ everything being mentioned about protoss getting faster upgrades than the other races: allocating all of our cb to upgrades and not probes means our economy develops more slowly than the other races- it is, as many things in sc2, an issue of opportunity cost. Furthermore, this won't affect the speed with which the upgrades come, since we could already prioritize our gas/cb towards them if we wanted, it just affects how much teching can go on at the same time as the upgrades. Overall a very smart yet moderate buff pvt. I doubt it's going to change much in pvz since most players don't double forge in that match up.

The emp nerf is not as moderate but it's suuuuppppeeeeer okay with me :D

people, it's not like the upgrades got any faster. they got cheaper by a miniscule amount (except level 3 upgrades)

I don't see why Protoss deserves cheaper upgrades when there upgrades are already the fastest, don't take away mining time, and apply to all of their ground units, when Zerg loses a drone and has to decide between melee and range...

As a P player i love the EMP change, it is totally fair.

However, the upgrade changes i'm pretty sure that will not change the lower P win rates at higher levels.

P needs a "core" buff, not a "side" buff.

Roach ling or MM stills rape gateway units, not even talking about the efficiency difference.
P still mine less, with expensive units that take more time to build, and that are needed to counter lower tier, cheaper units. Other races core units are faster and allow retreats aganist P, or better harass/ counterattacks. And so.

Let's face facts here man. Protoss hasn't been doing to well- shit for more than a few months my ZvP win rate was disgusting. I'm perfectly okay with them trying out new ways to make Protoss a little stronger. Hell, anything to make it more interesting than 2-3 base turtle until I have 160 supply

It isn't Protoss players fault- their race needs a buff. Hopefully they get that 'core' buff as well although I kinda feel like the EMP nerf, immortal range buff and upgrades cost reduction are a hell of a windfall.
