If it was standalone, it wouldn't change anything for people who already have WoL and it'd make it much more palatable for people who want to jump in without buying and installing multiple games. It would also help those who want multiple ladder accounts (because technology for separate ladder rankings per race isn't there yet /sarcasm).

I would not be surprised if the price at release date is $50-60. Considering Starcraft is one of the only games I really like putting hundreds of hours into, it is totally worth the price to me anyways. As long as they don't start charging monthly fees for Battle.Net... that would suck (I might still pay though). No they said they wouldn't charge the same price so itll be cheaper

Activision's earnings call put HotS for this year, so I assume at some point. D3 was set for quarter 2, so that is like June-ish. I would assume that HotS would come out in the 4th quarter, since there is some reasonable overlap in with both games.

Buying sc2 also for single player i didn't really mind, as they extended the single player because of this. And multiplayer people pay the tripple amount then they would have had before, but hey they get new units, they so wanted /heh. Standalone is probably a better idea for multiplayer, but expansions also do the trick, especially if so many people complain.

I have only played TWO campaign missions total out of the whole starcraft series including the original Starcraft. I hate single player mode.

That was a misunderstanding propogated by some people coming out of BlizzCon 08. I was there, and they were very clear: one game, two expansions.
