This year the BlizzCon opening ceremony and tournaments are free on the stream! Last year you could only see the SC2 & WoW tournaments for free. I guess blizzard has some big announcements to make this year so they are making the opening ceremony for everyone so more people can see.
BlizzCon 2011 begins tomorrow, and you’ll be able to watch the opening ceremony and the action on the World of Warcraft and RTS tournament stages streaming for free at www.blizzcon.com/live-stream/. DIRECTV subscribers in the U.S. can also catch the opening ceremony for free on the Audience Network. Pre-show coverage begins Friday at 10:30 a.m. Pacific, and the opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.. Tournaments run throughout both days of the show -- check out the BlizzCon schedule for details. If you’re interested in watching these in high-def and getting over 50 hours of BlizzCon coverage, including developer panels, the costume contest, the closing concert with Foo Fighters, and more, you can still purchase a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, which also includes this year's World of Warcraft pet and to-be-revealed StarCraft II in-game gift. The Virtual Ticket also lets you watch on-demand replays of any coverage you might have missed. We’ll be updating BlizzCon.com, our Twitter feeds, and our Facebook pages with news, photos, and more from the show, so we’ve got you covered pretty much anywhere you go. See you at BlizzCon!

Is there any time schedule for the entire weekend? Pref in CET
Boubouille, the owner of MMO-Champion, the biggest WoW fansite, hinted on Reddit about some huge announcement. However, he is a known troll.
I assume the "to be revealed Sc2 ingame gift" is HotS related. Since they are so secretive about it. Interesting
i hope i can catch some freestreams somewhere because blizzard only takes credit card for the hq stream and i dont have one :/ i would totally buy it this year. and gsl finals 4-7 am...LOL
Man i might have to stick to the free stream. My virtual ticket is paid, but im suppsed to have gotten a code that i havent recieved yet:< Also tells me to use a link to verify my email on my bnet acc but cant find anything about verification

They're going to announce the next WoW expansion, so they probably want as many people as possible to see it.

Now you know our pain.

Correction, add +2 for CEST, +1 for BST, -4 for EDT, -7 for PDT.
Meh, I'm gonna watch the opening ceremony, then the tournament.
if I can somehow find a restream of the rest I might catch up in the meantime, between games or during wow arena.
Before people jump on me for being an ugly pirate or whatever, 30 euros for a fucking stream is NOT WORTH IT. The entire gstl across 3 months costed less. Think about it.
They can sell it at this price point because wow collectors want the stupid pet or something. I wish there was the possibility to buy the hd stream for like 10 euros, without pets portraits or all of that kind of bullshit. There isn't, so pirate is the way to go.
30 euros/40 dollars is a robbery.

big annoncement? interesting;
speculation
- diablo3 will be finished earlier or open beta soon(tm) - titan unveil (highly unlikely) - blizzard official sc2 league with sick cash prizes
EDIT : totally forgot about wow - wow gets a real money auction house of its own

LOL. Lets get real for a moment, Blizzard is not exactly know for their speedy development process. Yes. But they are known to deliver best selling Products. Plus: There is no real Proof Titan is Blizzard's newest MMo. They are also known to lie, to keep secrets safe.

Titan is the new MMO. That's pretty much all we know about it.

The starcraft 2 games will be on a free stream like last year, or I mix up with something else ?
opening ceremony was free last year as well. they aren't stupid the opening ceremony is a huge marketing ploy for Blizzard and upcoming titles. Why would they charge people for watching the opening ceremony?
that would be like paying for viewing commercials.
Tournament stream and opening ceremony was free last year and the year before it as well...

http://us.battle.net/blizzcon/en/event-info/schedule/friday-schedule
those are in pacific time, which is 3 hours different, so starting at 9pm = 12am for east coast
and if it does go for full length, it could end near 3am :\ and its a TvT, chances are the games will be pretty long

Damn-it, yeah you are right. Still not that bad, its a Friday night.

Titan perhaps?! Probably not
big annoucement bisu and jaedong were bought by EG :D
The opening of blizzcon last year was free aswell. It was when they introduced the demon hunter class for Diablo 3. I expect panda expansion for WoW and HOTS units for the opening this year. And maaaybe some Titan, but doubt it.
They're probably going to unveil the next WoW expension, the opening cinematic for Diablo 3, and maybe the one for Heart of the Swarm. Titan could be a possibility, but I don't expect it.

Is boubille a huge troll? Haven't followed the scene recently but when I was active with WoW he would nail all future things spot on, almost thought he was an insider...
Oh well, for D.Brow. what do you think is the current (BE HONEST) state between the races, is there any race you want to nerf/buff, how and why

If you would read about Boubouille a little bit you will find out that he has been right about things almost 98% of the time. Boubouille has only made 3 mistakes about future projects since he began MMo-Champion in 2009. 1. The North Throne <-- Wasn't the name of the 2nd Expension. 2. Lvl 90 Was NOT the cataclysm cap. 3. patch 4.1 was NOT going back to Northrend (which is now 4.3 so he was half way right)

The opening ceremony was free last year, I watched it on their stream without paying.
Edit: People in the thread already pointed that out, oops.
They need two more free streams. The Jaedong stream and the Bisu stream. Are we all in agreement?
What about the Starcraft Panels? They won't be free I guess but does anyone know a good place to keep updated on the information? Will there be a live report thread here? xD
On October 21 2011 03:51 CoFran wrote: is GSL free too? is it also free for Virtual Ticket owners? what about people with GSL tickets?
GSL is not part of the virtual ticket, only GOM will be streaming it. but as always there is a 360p free stream for all gom events.
I have a class at the exact hour of the opening. Anyone know if I can watch this on VOD or not? I have a virtual ticket if that helps at all.

While it might be robbery figuratively, what you are doing is piracy literally.

there will be freestreams for the matches atleast right? *crosses fingers* :s
Replays and progaming tournaments are free to the public...so essentially you are paying the $30 for the in-game gifts and the developer panels. Oh and Jay Mohr (lol).

Is he? He always seems professional to me and almost all his leaks/predictions pan out. Anyway, looking through his reddit history I don't see anything about a huge announcement, just dancing around about whether or not he has info about the new expansion.
Not only was the ceremonies free last year they accidently left it on into the first panel I recall before turning on the paywall.

Maybe they will release some TITAN information

Funny how that works.
Yea there's no way I could justify how much they're charging for a couple of panels, which admittedly are always interesting but then are typically cam-corded by the bazillion people there and put on youtube 2-3 days after the fact.
Do they normally make announcements on opening ceremony? Maybe D3 release date
Fuck this noise I just want to see HotS stuff! :D
Can anyone confirm whether each part will be available to watch later on as a vod type thing, the same way thats its listed in the schedule? Ie, seperate video for ceremony, then blizzard talk, wow preview etc. And also whether the SC2 tourney will have each game available as replays/vods.
Yes I have a virtual ticket.
Thanks
