Q: This is your first Code S Round of 4. How are you feeling?
A: Naturally I'm happy. I'm even happier that two Slayers players made it all the way to the Round of 4. I hope that Coca can win his games as well. If that happens, then one of us will for sure be in the finals (laughs).
Q: It hasn't been long since you returned from your trip to the U.S. That must have been difficult.
A: To be honest, I didn't have especially much time to practice. I didn't have much time to sleep either (laughs). But strategy coach Ryu Won made all my builds for me. He also analyzed all of my opponent's play. Since I practiced mainly those builds, it wasn't too difficult. I practiced them all together, so the process wasn't too troublesome.
Q: You weren't able to seize victory at IPL Season 3.
A: Going to the US and coming back [without a victory] is always regrettable. Since MLG Columbus I haven't been able to win and get a trophy, so it feels empty. But then whenever I return, foreign fans on Twitter mainly compliment me, saying I played well. So I was able to cheer up again.
Q: You were matched against your good friend Clide, with a result of 3-2.
A: The 3:2 score makes me less happy. It seems like it gave hope that was then dashed [T/N he literally uses a compound word “hopetorture”]. After the games ended, Clide saw me and told me to definitely make it to the U.S. To be honest, today I feel the same as if it was a teamkill. We're friends to that degree. I definitely want to win in accordance with Clide's words.
Q: Your all-in in the fourth game failed.
A: On Crossfire SE, there are a lot of drawn-out macro games in TvT, so I went for an aggressive build. But then he stopped it so easily and I was flustered.
Q: You were up 2:0, then the situation changed to 2:2. When the 5th game came, what were you thinking, and what was your strategy?
A: I planned to use mech in the fifth game. But I had to adjust my strategy to the fact that my opponent was continually going for a fast expansion. I think changing the strategy might have been the key to my victory.
Q: It seems like this would bring back memories of the Super Tournament.
A: Before the games, I was talking to Clide and those times came up (laughs). I was the runner-up then, but this time my skills feel lacking. But I will work hard, so I hope that I can win.
Q: What's the reason it feels like your skills are lacking?
A: I think that other players are doing well, but it feels like I'm staying at the same level. I'd like to do away with those thoughts in the Round of 4. Because the practice time for the Round of 4 is short, it seems like I'll have to practice very hard.
Q: You could go to the United States once again. But if you go again, it could perhaps be hard on your stamina.
A: Of course it will be physically hard, but in my twenties, won't I endure trials anyway? I think that going to the United States as a progamer is rewarding. I'd like to feel that way again (laughs).
Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: I hope that Gayeon and Boxer who stayed in the U.S. for MLG will have a good result and return. I want to thank Director Cella, Strategy Coach Ryu Won, and Hee-Chul hyung who are always helping me. I want to thank Slayers_Lots, Slayers_Ryung, and FXO_Gumiho for their help in practice. Ryung helped me with two games in practice (laughs). When I went to IPL I lost my luggage, but Select, Mr. Chae, and global caster DoA found it for me, so I especially want to thank them.

Q: You've finally reached the Round of 4 for the first time in your career.
A: It doesn't feel real. All the way to the semifinals (laughs). Until now I've been steadily practicing for my games one at a time, and now I've made it to the Round of 4. Since I've made it this far, I'm even more ambitious to go to the United States.
Q: You were studying in Japan, but you came to Korea to become a progamer. It seems that that choice will now start to feel worthwhile.
A: First, I don't regret it. But it still feels lacking. Shouldn't I do a little more? If I win, then I will really feel like it was a worthwhile decision. I have to have an esteemed name as a finals winner. Even winning once, it's still hard to have an esteemed name within this team.
Q: It seems like your skills are underrated. What do you think?
A: I definitely don't think that, but I do feel like personally I'm not too good. There are a lot of things I need to work out. After I can overcome those obstacles and show high skill, then naturally people will stop rating me low.
Q: The Round of 4 is all Terran. It's four Terrans, but what do you think of it?
A: Since I left the practice room I predicted that it would be four Terrans. I felt really confident. And coincidentally the last Zerg fell (laughs). But patches will continue to come, and I think starting from next season or the season after that the race distribution will start to reach a normal level.
Q: What did you think when you watched the Nestea vs MVP games yesterday?
A: I though that MVP is really good in Best of 5's. Nestea had prepared mainly for bionic play, but MVP went for mech and showed an adaptive style. To be honest, I thought Nestea would win (laughs).
Q: You won perfectly with a 3:0. Was there a special key to this?
A: The builds I prepared for the first and third game were really good. I had practiced them for a long time, but I was waiting for the right time to use them, and that was today. Making my opponent have to stop two all-in strategies perfectly worked out well. Even if he blocked them, they were all-ins that I could follow up with macro, so I felt confident in any situation.
Q: When one thinks of Happy, mech play comes to mind, but you didn't use it today.
A: Because my style has been exposed a lot, many builds have come out to counter it. So I prepared with the intention to use bio play. Of course I enjoy and feel confident with mech, but bio isn't something I can't use. It's a toss-up (laughs).
Q: For now you'll have to practice TvT, so will you be focusing on mech play?
A: I will practice as much as my hands allow me. As much as I think? I could practice mech, but I could also not. I could pretend that I will. There are the consequences of the nerf to mech in 1.4.0, but my mech hasn't changed much (laughs).
Q: It seems like you would be ambitious to face MVP in the finals.
A: I want to face MVP once on a large stage, and it seems that this season is my chance. I'd like to face the most powerful Terran out there properly once.
Q: The Round of 4 this season is composed of Slayers Terrans vs IM Terrans.
A: First, it seems I will have to join forces with MVP in the Round of 4. I wonder whether we will have to practice together a lot. To be honest I feel confident about the Round of 4. My practice partners are good and my conditions are good (laughs).
Q: What do you think of MMA's TvT?
A: He's good with marine tank, and he has good multitasking so I will have to be cautious. But it's TvT, so rather than it being difficult, focusing on having a good condition the day of the games and a good early build will be important.
Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: I really want to thank IM_True and IM_Horror for their help in practice today. Losira gave me advice about Best of 5's, and Nestea helped a lot too. I want to thank the Director, and I want to thank dreamertt for coming to the studio today with me. I will practice hard for the Round of 4, and I will work so that I can meet MVP in the finals.
