We are currently talking about this issue in the mod forum. We take this issue very seriously, and want to find the best way to serve those who want faster results, and those that don't wish to be spoiled.

Now think this, you are Liquid'Jinro, you just won MLG Orlando, you get drinks with the fellow Liquidites and go home, open up teamliquid.net, BAM your big smiling face right in the dab of the front page because you just did something awesome. You'd feel awesome right?

so dear spoiler nazis, think for the Liquidites, sacrifice a little to make them happy

Except: everyone who watched you win, knows you won.

Except: everyone who will read your article that has been beautifully summarized, detailed and with images will know you won.

Except: When you come home, regardless how the front page looks like, you know you won.

Except: Liquipedia and the LR topics, thousands of posts and countless pages all screaming or typing out your name know you won.

except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except except

Bottom line, you won, regardless how long it takes TL to publicize it

Except you're not on the front page of your own team's website

You will when they release the big article in due time.

Everyone who watched or informed themselves, know you won.
What's the issue? That a website didn't publicly state you won yet?

Yeah, I'm sure competitive gaming is melting as we speak. Bless its soul.

To deny the team members that kind of euphoria because of spoiler policies is just disappointing. Now let's go back to this

Last time i checked TL was a news site, and old news isn't news anymore.

They're not denying, they're delaying to account for everyone's schedules and lives. Your choice of words could use another shake on the boggle cube.

Congratulations. Old news and news both have the same word: "news".
News is relative, It's news to me that Destiny joined with QXG despite it not being as recent as when it was first announced or learned.

Nice try though, let's go another round. The fact that Jinro won is still news and still true regardless of when it is published.

Again, save competitive gaming! It's melting! How does this defeat or deter competitive gaming again?

Let's also remember that if you watch the games, check the forums everywhere but the site news, you'll learn Jinro won, there is still euphoria, you just like to blur details

It saves people too lazy to click twice time.

TL was a community first, and given 95% of it's content is community driven, it's community aspect takes a front seat. If it's harmful to a part of the community they'll make a decision to either go with it or not. Respect their decision and respect your fellow TL members.

I said this before but I catch events live, probably more than most people here, so spoilers don't affect me personally. Instead of running around creating topics in general, SC2 general & the strategy forum proclaiming recent winners as Gods, I respect my fellow TL members who don't want to be spoiled and keep discussion in LR threads, fanclubs and specially marked threads. If I can do this, follow the hype and share my own euphoria with fellow TL members who just saw the same games I did without spoiling it for those who haven't, why can't you?

Edit: Just so there's no confusion my post is directed at Blasterion.

Thats the point, it adds value for some people but doesn't take away anything because you have ample resources to check results/discuss them.

There is no direct effect of competitive gaming as a whole and this dilemma people like to blow up into a large balloon.

Suck it up is my blunt way of saying things, but I don't mind the back and forths :3

Spoilers should just be expected as a part of sports. It's the responsibility of the person who wants to avoid being spoiled to hide himself from the information. Just like people who watch sporting events after the fact tend to not listen to radio, avoid colleagues, go lalala when their sport comes up.

Just accept the fact that people watch it live, and if you can't go dig yourself a cave and hide in it until you have a chance to watch it.

There is no burden in delaying news coverage for those who haven't seen it yet.
In addition, if you cannot account for time-zones and the livelihoods of people, then that, in itself, would kill competitive gaming as a global market because of one's ignorance to completely oblige those who can't stay up to 5 in the morning to watch something, to avoid community sites and areas they are passionate about. If you can't account for the vast majority who don't live in the same timezone as the tournament, you essentially shun them away and lower the number of interested parties.

So that's point #1.

Point #2 is that the site doesn't delay solely or for the reason to avoid spoilers (I believe a few pages back, the correction was made). That being said, delaying news doesn't mean it isn't news and it doesn't affect those who already know.

So. We've established two things: 1. Your thinking process could kill competitive gaming, contrary to your own notion that the opposite has a deterring effect.

and 2. The news being delayed doesn't affect those who already know, so the downsides for both parties are 0% to 0%

Oh look, this isn't killing competitive gaming at all

People need to worry less about hurting esports and focus more on helping it. I for one would love to see another MrBitter pop out of the woodwork as a vocal community member / event manager / dude who makes shit happen. You could spend an age wondering if walking with your left foot first will ultimately cause an imbalance in your leg strength and impede your 100m sprint, or you could spend an age training and be fast as all shit because of it.

if TL is community first then the homepage would be the forums. I don't think more than half of TL deserves to not have watered down, neutered news headlines just so we can satisfy the minority that wants to avoid spoilers. It's their responsibility to not be spoiled. Not ours

For example
Jinro takes Down Korean Champion in MLG Orlando or Foreigner Rise in MLG Orlando, Reign of Koreans over?
vs
Congratulations to Winner of MLG Orlando

Thank you.

We live in a negative world where the only way to help competitive gaming is to find ways to prevent it from being slowed down as if it could go any faster.

People need to either: enjoy the ride and support it in ways that help it grow financially or with exposure.

or 2. Stop fucking being so negative and realize that competitive gaming is a big boy and is doing fine.

Its annoying how long it takes for stuff to get talked about, when someone wins a major tournament the background should change to their face kissing the trophy...also why would you come to a website like team liquid if you didnt want the results spoiled >.<

Hey, you missed my counterpoint.

I'll take the reigns! It's not a minority, why are you so close-minded? From Eastern Europe to All of Asia is more of a majority than the Western hemisphere.

There is no burden on the site or those who already know the news to withhold spoiled news.

Try another direction please.

Because the site offers more than just tournament results and news.
Because the site also considers other people's lives and scheduling differences.

Nice try.

Doesn't account for those who don't give a shit.
Doesn't account for those who didn't think things through.
Doesn't account for non-english speakers community members.
Doesn't even have a majority number? you think 3000 people is a majority? rofl
Doesn't even poll this to other community hubs (reddit, WP.org)

Round 3, let's go :3 You missed my counterpoint with your hypothetical situation of Jinro and now you have this minority thing you can't seem to really fight for.

TL was a community first, and given 95% of it's content is community driven, it's community aspect takes a front seat. If it's harmful to a part of the community they'll make a decision to either go with it or not. Respect their decision and respect your fellow TL members.

I said this before but I catch event's live, probably more than most people here, so spoilers don't affect me personally.

Edit: Just so there's no confusion my post is directed at Blasterion.

if TL is community first then the homepage would be the forums. I don't think more than half of TL deserves to not have watered down, neutered news headlines just so we can satisfy the minority that wants to avoid spoilers. It's their responsibility to not be spoiled. Not ours

Hey, you missed my counterpoint.

I'll take the reigns! It's not a minority, why are you so close-minded?
There is no burden on the site or those who already know the news to withhold spoiled news.

Try another direction please.

Poll: Do think live tournament results on TL frontpage is a good idea ?

Yes (4507)

86%

No (386)

7%

Yes, but only if TL add a spoilerfree VOD page that is easily accessible. (364)

7%

5257 total votes

Your vote: Do think live tournament results on TL frontpage is a good idea ?

(Vote): Yes
(Vote): No
(Vote): Yes, but only if TL add a spoilerfree VOD page that is easily accessible.

about that minority thing

Nice try.

Doesn't account for those who don't give a shit.
Doesn't account for those who didn't think things through.
Doesn't account for non-english speakers community members.
Doesn't even have a majority number? you think 3000 people is a majority? rofl

Round 3, let's go :3

If they didn't vote, then oh well, they probably don't give a shit, so appeal more to the majority of the people that give a shit?

They don't give a shit about the topic because the issue is ludicrous and downright and utterly stupid and ignorant of so many factors you just had me list for your personally.

We are appealing to the majority, you just keep blurring out that detail.

Speaking of details: Doesn't account for those who didn't think things through.
Doesn't account for non-english speakers community members.
Doesn't even have a majority number? you think 3000 people is a majority? rofl

Minus those who don't give a shit, what about these people? This puts doubt that your poll is a majority

or did you ignore that too?

Ok, regarding time zones, World Cup doesn't always happen at a good time for people to watch, they are live reported basically.
It's not a burden to the website but it is a feature that will be appreciated by the majority that cares

How many times does World Cup occur?
How many times is the World Cup playing in one specific time zone each time?
How many people watch the World Cup?
How many sites are there that broadcast or talk about the World Cup?

Your parallel comparison is not even close to parallel, come on.

Round 4.

P.S: it's not the majority, you seem to ignore this everytime.

Which majority appreciates it? Those who watched it or those who frequent LR topics? How do they appreciate it? What aspect do they like the most about it?

People need to worry less about hurting esports and focus more on helping it. I for one would love to see another MrBitter pop out of the woodwork as a vocal community member / event manager / dude who makes shit happen. You could spend an age wondering if walking with your left foot first will ultimately cause an imbalance in your leg strength and impede your 100m sprint, or you could spend an age training and be fast as all shit because of it.

I can't believe how seriously people are taking this thread title, lol.

I guess I should have called it "Is the de-antispoilerization of TL the new great hope of E-Sports ?"

If you read the OP, you probably won't have a feeling of "negativity", same for the poll question.

Cheers, fellow montrealer.
