I see almost no one here stating these things. And a few people/fanboys exagerrating will always be there.

If you haven't seen people saying these things, then you have your blinders on. Statements like that are littered throughout this thread.

You can't have it both ways. You can't point to stephano having lag as a reason for playing poorly, then point to his IPL 3 qualifier run where koreans played with lag and at 3am+ as a big accomplishment. If you want to say he played poorly due to lag, fine, but then you also have to acknowledge that koreans played with lag and were half asleep when he beat them.

Come on, you know this is stupid - I haven't even seen the videos, but you can probably find VoDs of every single foreign progamer where he plays an absolutely abysmal game. One match is not representative.

Before Assembly DIMAGA never had won a major tournament but everyone was aware of how sick he is. Anyone that saw Stephano play or played against him is saying the same thing: That kid is fucking sick.
He makes some of the top players look like utter shit. Who are you guys on the forum that don't even recognize this level to judge about him. Even if a LADDERRUN of 64-2 is not the highest accomplishment for a player, it certainly is something very impressive and I'm not sure many others could repeat that ... while I believe not even Stephano could do it again, but he certainly is sick.
I really hate you people judging him only from LAN tournaments... when he was at like... 2 LANs? where he did just fine. Same with Kas. People call him a monster in the scene and you guys would argue he sucks because he did not win a major tournament @ LAN yet?
Come on.

I agree with this. They hype level for him is too much and unjustified at this point, which creates a lot of anti fans because of it. He's not to blame for that of course, but count me as a skeptic as to whether or not he'll turn out to be great or he turns out to be another Kas or Happy, that euros were quick to hype the hell out of prematurely.
Its funny you call him another Kas, when Kas is very well respected in the proscene... again. Not many offline accomplishments =/= bad or not amazing player. I'm not saying he's NesTea, but he's one of the top contenders for every tournament he enters without Koreans. The Thing is, that doesn't mean much in Starcraft 2 as you can easily drop a series to a player you would USUALLY most likely win more than you lose,... but the skill difference and gameplay allows you to quickly lose a game.

I would say the anti fans generate the hype level. The original hype wasn't that big but guys like you keep this thread running.
Everybody who follows the euro scene for months, i mean EVERYBODY agree that stephano is a beast. for those and especially NA people who only follow GSL, MLG, NASL and seems to not pay attention of euro scene are clueless of whats going really if the event is not widely broadcasted.

Yeah, I hate to bash on players, but I can't help but feel stephano is only being spotlighted at all just merely because of the coL and Mill. controversy.
I think he still needs to prove himself as a player, and until he starts placing super high in some big tourneys, I'm still gunna be skeptical.
Agreed. I've never heard of him till the whole coL and Mill. controversy started. Now it's all about Stephano and how good he is and how he's gonna own everyone.
Maybe for Americans, but he's been pretty hyped since pre-hsc3 in the European scene.

I pride myself on being very up to date with the euro scene because I watch SOTG.
These types of threads are so deja vu. Didn't this start with Nerchio? I'm sure Stephano is good, but get back to me when he wins something that matters... like a major offline event.

Yes he did nothing in offline event, oh ... wait.
First lan : HSC : He won HuK 2-0 wich was the winner of this HSC and losed to MC, what a shame. Lan assembly : He finish third, losing 3-2 vs Dimaga in pretty close series. IEM : Yes he didn't pass groupstage, oh , wait, he no match Puma in one one sided game , Puma, easy winner of this event, then closes bo3 against mana, third of the event.
And that was his 3 first major offline event, soo, will see but .. =)

He was in full time education last year (high school). Now he took a year off (since july actually).

What does me being american have anything to do with it? Not like I get my information from some american only site that only showcases Idra/Huk/QXC etc. I go to teamliquid for all my SC info and I pay attention to all the major LANS. He's yet to make any kinda of name for himself at a major tournament and I'll gladly bite my tongue if he stomps through people offline as good as he does online.

I dont know why people keep saying Stephano haven't proved himself at Lans
He placed 5th in HSC 3 beatign Huk 2-0 Lost to Thorzain and MC
His group:
1. Stephano 3-0 2. HuK 2-1 3. iNSoLeNCE 1-2 4. NarutO 0-3
Then he lost to Thorzain 2-0 got into losers bracket and did this:
Jinro 0 Stephano 2
Stephano 2 XlorD 0
White-Ra 1 Stephano 2
MC 2 Stephano 0
He placed 5th together with Idra. This was his first Lan ever and he did all this being an amateur player.

These are some of the biggest Lans in Europe. If this isn't proving himself at Lans then 90% of all pro sc2 players haven't proved them self either
So plz stop with this sillyness
Ok I'll give in he did good. But some of the players he beat I wouldn't put too much faith in. A slumping Jinro, some no names, and Brat_OK is very overrated imo.
