Did you forget about Huk?
He was given a spot in Code A-- a qualifier that I doubt any foreigner in the world can go through, and rode pvp's into an easy up and down group.
Huk's win % in Korea Tlpd is 46-- far lower than the average player in Code S and of all the players in Code S he is definitely towards the bottom in terms of talent.
In homestory cup and dreamhack, he again rode PvP's throughout the tournament and beat Moon-- a pretty sub par Korean. PvP (pre patch) was the biggest coin flip match in the game. Because of this very little separated Foreign Toss players and Korean Toss players in the mirror matchup.
Recently vs Foreigners Huk has been performing poorly. He lost to idra in the blizzcon invitational and lost very early in Dreamhack Valencia, not to mention falling in the first round of Code S.

Last time i checked Bomber has never won a GSL, DRG has never won a GSL.... ... ...
Are they top koreans? Yes, because they took games/series of other very top Koreans.
So why is Stephano no top foreigner just because he did not win a whole tournament (yet)?

If Stephano would play more he'd be even better.

I mean, Stephano has always been good, but he turned into an absolute beast recently. Watching him play is siiiick. First person, tournament stream, any match-up, doesn't matter. This kid is nasty.

Any win ratio outside of KR server is pretty meaningless. Select, Nani, Huk, Thorzain had 82-90% win ratios on NA/EU, but are only hoovering 50-60% on KR server.

cuz, while Bomber and DRG haven't won a GSL, they HAVE won MLG and other foreign tourneys in a fashion that makes the opponents seem like bronze players. And Stephano is only playing against these noob like pros that the Koreans have crushed.

A player is not considered good if all he has to show is a decent ladder performance. Someone said that. Can't remember who.

All that matters to get renown is win a tournament with many eyes watching. You need that big splash. Skill level of the tournament is irrelevant. How many people still cling to Thorzain or Jinro for achievements they did many months ago?
Oh a Korean won an MLG? Yeah, except most of them are put by themselves in their group i.e. not with other Koreans in pool play and mostly roflstomping the NA players there. They might have to overcome one other Korean, but they are guaranteed top spot for their group. Then it's 3 more BO3s to a championship.

Yeah, and many, many, many people like yourself were blind to his skill until then.

He just discovered weed :D

Somehow I think that MLG Orlando will end all the hype surrounding this player, though I'd like to proven wrong.

Hum Bomber and DRG were considered as one of the very best korean player far before they won MLG and and dreamhack.

@s4life Weeell, it might because on account of this hype, he won't go there as an underdog and he will have been closely studied :p So he might get some counters in his face if he goes there with the same strats as now.

Can anyone explain to me why Huk being in code S and only getting top 8 finishes is sub-major LANs makes Stephano's ladder run less impressive?
I will gladly donate €100,- to anyone one who has posted in this thread who can accomplish the same feat (64-2) in the next month (with the same strating conditions: EU GM)(without cheating obviously).
I'm looking forward to see him play at IPL3.

I'm looking forward to see him play at IPL3. Thorzain said he did 100-2 twice. I trust him, you can send him the 100euro. ( he said it to steph on his stream )

Looking forward to see Thorzain play at IPL3 as well. Maybe i'm just easily impressed. Maybe i'm just looking forward to IPL3.
