Looks like fun. The providence weekend will be pretty busy if they have a whole other competition though?

MLG makes millions profit every year. They should be thankful for having a game that they can make so much money off of and increase the prize pool substantially imo. Its not like they can't afford it. ;((((

Can you link to the profits MLG are making? Never seen any official numbers.

I don't remember where exactly i read it but it was a credible source. It just saddens me how greedy MLG is being with the amount of prize money they are giving out when the gamers(us) are the reason MLG can make so much money. I'll try and find what i read and post it for you.

You positive it's millions in profit, and not revenue?

I'm pretty positive, i'll continue to search for the article i read and post the link.

Ok heres an article with an idea of what they made starting in 2006 till when this article/interview was published in 2009. So thats 3 years. profit:42.5 million. The scene is definitely much bigger now in general. I'm sure they make alot more than that. This is all profit btw. Even if they only threw an extra 50k for sc2 per mlg they would still be making bank. Plus who knows they might even make more from it since the stakes are so high.

I looked into it. That's how much money they've raised through investment from venture capitalists. Not how much profit they've made.

NA really needs some more high level players if that is our roster. After Incontrols showmatches and performances I have no clue why hes in this.

Qxc?
Trimaster?

There has to be others who can actually play more then 1 style or rely on all ins/cheese to pull out a victory that im missing.

Its as someone else said earlier, nearly all the NA invites are based on popularity, NA is in a sad state of affairs.

I think at least Mana should have been on EU list if not Nerchio. Probably instead of Jinro/Haypro. Not only are they probably top 4 (with Naniwa and Thorzain) Europeans, but also would make it more EU and less Sweden

Nerchio would be imba and have a chance at making r08 if not higher.

EU lineup is a bit lackluster. There are definatly better players in EU than Sjow, Haypro, Jinro and SaSe. Probably not gonna watch it.

NA has such a sad lineup of players, while EU and KR showcase the best SC2 players in the regions and possibly the world.

Destiny? iNcontrol? Slush? And let's be honest here even though I love the man to death: Tyler?

These can't possibly be the best in NA.

DESTINY? <--(what?!)

awesome event but a bit disapointed to see again and again incontrol in... i'm not a hater, but this guy didnt show anything since a while, and i'm sure there are better players who surely want to show up. same for Tyler. They're just here because of bigs names.

Sases training hard in Korea right now and is rocking high gm
Sjow was complimented by Bomber for having Code S Tvt or something like that
Jinro seems to be streaming/playing like mad lately. Can always bounce back

Sjow and Sase is pretty good choice imo. Sjow ranked highest as foreigner in the last MLG. Not Haypro cuz this guy shy like a little school girl lol(jk) and Jinro is not really in a good shape anymore.

Would have been funny if Minigun was invited. If he won he would have no excuse to not go to a live event then lol.

Its not like anyone said they are bad, far from it, just there are quite a number of players that are much better than at least Haypro/Jinro and probably even Sjow/Sase.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/21817/Major_League_Gaming_Picks_Up_75M_For_Competitive_Gaming.php

Professional video game league Major League Gaming announced that it secured a $7.5 million investment from Oak Investment Partners.

The same venture capital firm previously invested $25 million into the company in Series B funding in 2006. Prior to that, Major League Gaming gained $10 million in a Series A round from Ritchie Capital.

Total? 42.5 million.
i was driving down the road this november eve and spotted a hitchhiker walking down the street. i pulled over and saw that it was only a tree. i uprooted it and put it in my trunk. do trees like marshmallow peeps? cause that's all i have and will have.

NA: Idra, Kiwikaki, Sheth
