Love that people whine like little spoiled kids about the invites and not even reading all the posts before they do....

Love that people whine like little spoiled kids about the invites and not even reading all the posts before they do.... Us whiners have read those posts. I assume its just no way that they asked ALL of the better players (there a LOT of players that are better than the invited) and ALL of them declined. MLG are pretty ignorant when is comes to the EU scene, just watch SOTG (JP represents MLG there)

Why are all these big tournaments only doing invitationals... It's boring seeing the same players over and over again and it doesn't give other people a chance to qualify.

You understand this was an invite. Besides the fact many turned this tournament down, people like Destiny and iNcontrol have pull. People will watch them play, even if they don't know many of the other players. It's a smart move by MLG and it gives these guys a chance to prove themselves. I for one like seeing more variety instead of the standard player list, which most of the brackets are.

This looks awesome MLG, great work!

Just be fucking grateful for once..
Brackets looking pretty good. Naniwa vs Sase is going to be hard for both, WhiteRa vs Ret, whole Korean bracket is going to be sick straight from Round 1... wow.
Predictions: NA: KiWiKaki/Idra KR: Bomber/MVP EU: Sase/WhiteRa
I can't personally wait for this. Casters are great, and players/brackets are great enough. Good luck and good job MLG! 'Grateful?!?!' What the fuck are you talking about bro, these 'you people' are paying customers, either directly through membership or indirectly through ads. MLG isn't doing us a favour, they are providing a service in return for payment. They aren't a fucking charity providing us with content cause they wanna see us smile, it is a paid service and as a result customers have a right to expect their monies worth... You've read and heard that they invited bunch of people, some declined or didn't want to play for some reason. If you don't like the line-up then don't fucking pay to watch it. But why you need to come here and say "WHY ISN'T PLAYER X INVITED?" "WHY ARE YOU SO STUPID MLG?" -- What if MLG asked him and he declined? Those comments are absolutely pointless. + Show Spoiler +On September 10 2011 10:38 MLG_Adam wrote: Guys we invited many people that are not on the current list. To confirm speculation: Yes many people declined invitations. All that being said, we are EXTREMELY happy to have such a stellar top to bottom roster in our first stab at this. I understand your point though, and you are right. If there wouldn't be such a line-up for KR bracket or EU, even i wouldn't possibly be paying to watch this. This is better than nothing, keep that in mind. ps. I don't mind people who give them concrete criticism or dislike their picks, but at least put some effort in your message before posting. This has nothing to do with who people are picking, you seem to be under the illusion that the consumer has no right to voice what they would like in a service provided to them, and I was just informing you that you are wrong. And remember we are on a discussion board in a topic dedicated to discussion on this issue. Nobody has to be 'grateful' that they are being given something that they paid for...
And yes I know some people turned down their invites, I just don't think that there were THAT many people who would have. There are people who have attended almost every MLG to battle through the open bracket for a shot at the title. Whilst the prize pool is smaller, it is a much easier run to first place than having to fight through the open bracket and then beat a bunch of Koreans. I don't think it is something that someone would just turn down for no reason. And if they gotta resort to bringing in incontrol and destiny...
Anyway that's beside the point, I was just annoyed how you expect people to 'just be grateful', as if MLG was giving this to us cause they felt like being top blokes instead of running a business.
Saying 'it's better than nothing' is ridiculous, this isnt a charity, this isn't something that we should consider ourselves lucky that someone is putting this show on for us, and that we should just take what we can get and shut up lol.
Anyway overall I'm pretty happy with the lineup, as mentioned earlier I just got annoyed by what you said.

Lol, jantelagen rules! Over half of the people complaining about too many Swedes are Swedes themselves. I'm sorry to say it was my knee jerk reaction too ;-)
It's obvious they've invited players based on connections and popularity. I don't see anything wrong with that, except they should probably not claim them to be among the "worlds best players".

MVP can destroy Puma. ESPECIALLY in his current form.

One last time guys We invited a lot of European, NA, and Korean players that a) turned down the invite b) simply did not respond.
Admittedly it was on short notice, but again, we're very, very happy with the great line up we have. You guys might not like x, y, or z being invited, but you have to admit that this is a pretty damn good collection of players.
Also, I agree with people saying that consumers should complain when they see something they're not satisfied with. This tournament was meant as an add on for the HD service that Gold/Silver members already paid for, for more video content for our general fan base, and as a test of life for some ideas in 2012. We're doing our best, and even if all of the feedback over these 24 pages is not completely positive, it is still feedback and we appreciate it. Keep it coming, we need to hear the complaints with the praise if we ever want to make you guys relatively happy. (although we could drop $100 bills from the ceiling in Orlando and people would still not be happy about something )

I think it's more Sweden vs NA vs Korea. I love Sweden and their attitude towards eSports. Rooting for Ret, Nani and Jinro. I miss Kas and Stephano on the list but that's my little opinion.

White-ra you sly dog, you better win this!

I agree with the bolded part 1000%, some people will never be satisfied and always complain. Its sad too, after the community did such a great job in responding to that CBS article, we turn around and bitch about another great thing that MLG is doing for esports.

yeah, probably something along the lines: "these $100 bills are dirty and creased... why doesn't MLG give us brand new bills!!?! they are killing esports"
but really, Destiny just got 3-0 by TLO in the shoutcraft invitational, and TLO isn't anywhere near to being one of the top europeans right now.... though it would be mighty funny if he can run Idra off the tournament with some BM...
|
lol. 6/8 EU invites are from Sweden
I dont mind that
Can't wait for Idra vs Destiny... A bit of a grudge match between them. Idra playing this muta style while destiny is turtling with infestors.
Another sick match is Puma vs MVP. MVP is so beasty now so that's gonna be sick

This is so awesome! The player pool looks great.

I don't get it how stupid some are. Ofc they invited huk etc and they prolly declined. How retarded can you be
|
I can't wait. I'll even put this on my google calendar which I almost never use just so I don't forget. One thing though: "All broadcasts begin at 7pm ET" What the hell... Why would you make the europeans and koreans play at these ungodly hours when these are regionals (meaning why would you make me stay so late at night).
|
hmm...any way you could tell us which players declined? or is that some kind of privacy violation?
