Hey TL! Recently I made a montage featuring the incredible micro of my favorite Toss player Naniwa, the video took a while to edit (used Sony Vegas 9), I hope you enjoy it guys!
In the future I am looking forward to making a lot more of these short highlight videos featuring stylistic things specific players do, give me ideas or feedback please.
I want to make another vid featuring some kind of zerg micro but im not sure of which player specifically. Nestea or Idra wouldent work cuz they dont have really stylistic micro play, they are just reallly solid and a montage can't showcase that.
I think the SC2 scene needs more of these montage/highlight videos for specific players, I see so many shoutcasting videos but no montage-like videos..
Anyways there will be many more montages to come, possibly for tlo, nestea, mkp mc etc etc Subscribe to my youtube if you wanna follow with the videos.
SONG LIST ========================== #Intro - Nero - Act Like You Know (Dubstep Mix) 1. - Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Jakwob Remix) 2. - French Soler - Lies (Doctor P Remix) 3. - Panic at the disco - Its time to dance (old version)
NOTE: To Germans who are unable to watch due to copyright issues, here is a megaupload link
great vid man but i'd suggest you to use the arrow keys instead of the mouse to move the camera, and eventually (not necessarily) use that 'spectator mode' or idk how it's called to hide the console for a bigger screen.
I'm glad that quality movies focusing specifically on showcasing very high skill are starting to be developed. The FPS world has reigned supreme as a fantastic medium for movie making, and this is the first step to showing the editing world what RTS is made of! WOOP WOOP SC PRIDE!
I can just imagine some of those hard hitting metalcore breakdown screen shakes/waves/crazy saturation tweaks that CS:S movies feature with epic mass fungals or baneling drops on mineral lines/deathballs. In fact the CS:S method of really fast clip acceleration between setting up the scene and the climax working very well for both of these kinds of micro. Slowing down to emphasize the clutch final shots on banelings during marine splitting would be great. Epic baneling mines, clutch immortal/tank/battlecruiser/colossi neurals can be used this way as well. Definitely keep using the caster recording, the "One Year Down" montage did this well.
Don't be afraid to tweak color correction like mad and develop a totally new feel for the SC world. CoD4 movie makers have taken the resking of maps/player models/gun models quite far, consider using some different skins if they're out there. I know ESV/Nationvoice makes use of the enhanced player color skins. Experimentation won't bring anything except a little bit of "well that doesn't look good" and "that's AWESOME!".
If I have any more ideas I'll be sure to bounce them off you.
That micro vs Idra was sick. You should have put his Collosus micro vs terran in when he played in the GSTL that was insane, he killed so much with one collosus.

There are already alot of wc3 and BW montage/skill vids.
As for this video nice editing but I think the moves themselves were pretty bland tbh, the blink micro was nice but the bigger battles arent so impressive to me.
@the germans unable to watch: Given that youtube has been hell for germans for quiet some time now I figured everyone was smart enough to just use a proxy by now...
@the video: Great job, I love the fact that montages are starting to come up in the starcraft community. The music was great to, someone typed in idra music @ youtube and downloaded some playlist here Editing was also quiet nice and flew well with the music. I know that montages are still young in this community, but back in the halo community when montages where the shizzle some people used to upload the actual video file for people to download. Given that i can only watch in shit quality thanks to the fact that I have to proxy I'd like to request some sort of upload to a site like megaupload or fileshare :D

In my opinion, WoW has the best videomaking scene out there, with tons and tons of good produced videos all the time. Sc2 is really still not there in that aspect (and will never be, because WoW is far better/easier for moviemaking).

Great video eitherway, thanks for the effort!
Agreed - what started over at warcraftmovies.com really took machinima to a whole new level.
As for starcraft, i'm looking forward to a ''pimpest plays" equivalent for SC2, preferably with awesome beats that are phased out as the casters voices are brought in.
Why aren't there more Sc2 montage Vids like this? This video is purly awesome.
Also if anybody from the Germans is still wining that they can't watch it: Please read a few comments there are plenty of different options posted how you can watch it.

I think it's generally harder for these Montage like videos to capture the excitement of RTS games as opposed to other games like fps because for RTS everything from start to finish is so important and its realy hard to have all of that on vid, while in a fps its really just the action of moment which is whats important.
First of all great video Not much highlight videos in sc2 so far wich makes me sad panda :/ I rly liked the editing and all but i missed one thing. Caster voices. It always adds that ,,something,, to the scene when u actually hear casters to shout/having nerd chills over the blink stalker micro or anything it always makes the scene so much better IMHO Anyway GREAT work and i hope we can see more videos in future keep it up
Ugh that music was so bad I had to mute it. Fuck dubstep. Good collection of Naniwa micro highlights - though I wish there was less use of the black/white and better music choices.

A very interesting point that im still debating, caster voices are really enjoyable but I think an important aspect of montages is to sync the music to the visuals, with caster voices it kinda dilutes it.
Next montage im gonna add some caster voices to try it out though.
