Gordon Hayward, professional NBA player for the Utah Jazz (and their first round pick of the 2010 draft) is publicly announcing that this October he will be participating in IGN Pro League: Origins in Atlantic City.

Gordon Hayward is a professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz. He started streaming SC2 games a few months ago and has done it a few times since, getting featured on TL and getting tons of views.

It'll never happen. He is an NBA player. How many hours a day do you think he has during the season? Between practice/games/travel/training, he'd be lucky to get more than 2 hours/day to spend on SC2.
I would be great if he had more time for SC2... but unfortunately he doesn't
I hope he starts streaming with Boris again so we can see how much he's progressed recently. Last time i saw he was #1 in his Gold division. But he's been getting help from Chill, Kellymilkies and Zergman so who knows how much he's improved.
What should I do? Should I admit I’d made micro mistakes, Should I remind you I’ve never done this before Should I give you a metagame lesson What should I do? Should I tell you have much fun I've had...
Haha guys don't forget, NBA lockout is in effect! So that means they can't practice or anything with the team unless they do it at their own home gyms/whatever. If the NBA lockout lasts a long time and the season doesn't happen... well lets just say he'll have lots of time to play SC2 The NFL lockout was luckily lifted before the season started, BUT during the lockout all the players did silly things haha.

I've been rooting for Gordon Hayward ever since his Butler days, the Cinderella story of that years NCAA finals. This only strengthens my support for him =D
Haha, this is brilliant... What a cheeky guy. Love it. I hope no Utah fans with no knowledge of e-sports see this and think he's really quitting basketball or something!
Hehe, funny stuff. As soon as I saw video in the headline though I kind of knew what they were aiming at. If they get attention from people who wouldn't normally know of SC2 but did because of this parody, then it already payed out. Just good from so many angles
Video was hilarious. I hope SC2 and esports can get a ton of exposure from this. I really want to see big sports networks like espn cover this or at least play the video in the OP.
Also everyone talking about he has no time with being in the NBA, it looks very likely that there will be no season this year. Meaning that he has no job for the next year and can't even go to the Jazz training facilities due to the whole league being locked out. It's great that he's taking his hobby and trying to give it a try while his first passion is currently locked away.

It's actually looking like there will be a season (news today). Besides... hopefully he'd still be practicing during the lockout especially considering how young and unestablished he is

If you read TL interviews NBA's Gordon Hayward You would know he is still training 6 hours a day, and that Basketball is his #1 priority.
SC2 is just a something he enjoys to do in his spare time.
Seems to me like IGN and GSL are the only two tournaments that really breathe high level production and quality without the drama and horrible PR that's riddled other tournaments.
Well, not to go all Charles Barkley on you, but we have officially reached the point where we know for a 100 percent fact that the NBA is too soft. When a 21-year-old, 207 pound forward doesn't immediately recoil in horror when asked to compare the stress and rigors of the NBA to a freaking science fiction video game we know that the NBA game has been cleaned up too much. If a Zerg attack really gets his blood pumping as much as a game-winning shot, that's a terrible look. We don't want to live in a world where this can be true, do we?
I guarantee that no NBA player in the 1990s ever said, "That karate chop from Ryu was pretty much the same as the haymaker Charles Oakley hit me with last night." Or, "Oh man, jumping off that hill in Excite Bike was so exhilarating it reminded me of the time Jeff Van Gundy prevented further chaos by clinging to Alonzo Mourning's leg." Never happened.

As has been said ohhhh, twenty times in the thread, it's a parody of the LeBron James "The Decision". It's not real, he's not leaving the NBA.
Well, the NBA is on strike. No different than Ochocinco's tryout with that MLS team during the NFL lockout. It's just for fun, my understanding is that he's competing in the IPL open bracket. He'll lose, but it's publicity for them and fun for him.

Not just Progamers, but PRO COACHES!! Help Gordon out, it would be awesome to see him perform genuinely well, considering how behind he is. It is a chance to demonstrate how good pros are at what they do.
Get Gordon through a few rounds!! SC2 and eSports could use all the publicity it could get =D

Joshy, that video was so very well produced, I am continually impressed by all of IGN's professional productions. I can't wait for more, and I hope you get him a sick coach to blow this sucka up!
