After a months of group stages and brackets, finally two teams have emerged in hopes for the grand prize of being the best Starcraft 2 Highschool in North America. It wasn't an easy road, facing players from teams like vVv and gosugamers, the two teams that remain did not get here simply by luck of the draw, but by hard work and sheer skill. Tomorrow night Canyon Crest Highschool will face off against Lynbrook Highschool in an epic final series casted by none other than Doa Starcaft.
This thread will offer a short look into the players of these finals two teams

Captain: David "DocM" Maynard
Race: Random
League: Gold
Favorite Player: Adelscott
Jesse and I first came up with the idea for a CCA starcraft team this year, and I am very proud to see just how successful that dream has become. Due to time constraints, social obligations, and economic necessity, I was unable to participate for the majority of the season; however I was still able to play a mentor role throughout my busy senior year. The players from CCA have experienced a profound amount of growth as players and people. Jesse in particular has vastly improved as a leader, speaker, and player. While still inferior to the Torrey Pines kids (if not unequal than outnumbered at least), I am confident that come next year Canyon Crest will have an impressive lineup. As I leave for college I will stay on in an advisory role. Right now, my goals are to improve my skills as a random player so that next year I will be a more versatile teaching
machine. (I began the season as a low diamond Protoss, however a switch to random and long term lack of practice have driven me down to the gold league). Finding the time to practice recently has been a challenge, but I believe I can create a stronger regimen for the future.
This week Canyon Crest and Torrey Pines met up to analyse some of Lynbrooks games and get ready for the upcoming final match. The team has been playing countless practice matches this week and is not prepared to lose.

I played as protoss in brood war, but never really got anywhere, and everybody was already so good at that game and I remember wishing that I had started playing the game earlier. I had stats like 13-22 D on iccup (terrible lol). I also lost my original battle net key so I could not get into the beta for SC2. However I got SC2 on the release date, hoping that it would be like a fresh start where I didn't start so far behind everyone else like I did in bw. I did my five placement matches and got into platinum, great. Then I proceeded to lose a bunch to silly things like mass voidray off of 1 base and 3 gate pure zealot. Discouraged with my lackluster play, I got into playing the campaign, customs, and team games. I could never play as much as I wanted to because my parents don't allow me to play on mon-thurs druing the school year, which sucked when I wanted to invest time into sc2 to try to get better. However after a long struggle, I got into diamond, about 4 months after release if I recall. I think it was during winter break that I tried out for clan OverDosed (OD). I remember being so nervous during my tryout games. I lost my first tryout game but won my second one, so they put me in as a trial member. I passed my trial and got in! I was so happy that I was in a clan, which marked to me as something that indicated a competitive player.
By this time I had also met some people at my school that also played SC2, like abalabazn and Sypher. Back then they weren't very good, abalabazn was bronze when he started, and Sypher did not play for a really long time, and so was like gold level. However I got them both into SC2 again and now abalabazn is plat, Sypher is almost masters and I am masters. Me and abalabazn wanted to start an SC2 club in our school, which we are going to do next year, but then I found the HSSTL. I immediately wanted to join this league, so me and abalabazn with the help of a few others decided to recruit all the closet gosus at our school to form a team for Lynbrook High School. We found many new people such as Ghostfoot, OhShizNits, and Psyren (our gosu senior who will be leaving next year), I submitted our lineup, and so our team was born.
Shortly afterwards, I organized two in-house tournaments which determined our rankings within the team. We had a 4 person A team, a 4 person B team, and the rest of our players in the training team. We held practices every saturday and we entered the HSSTL with confidence as a team. However, we started off with a crushing 1-4 loss to South High School, where I lost a pvp to their player Fabled, with Ghostfoot coming in to tie up the series with some clutch defense, then their player Winfield going on to accrue three more wins, giving them a 4-1 victory over us. Needless to say, that discouraged us as a team. However we picked it up and proceeded to not lose another match. So far, our only loss in the league has been to South High School, which I think shows our team's consistency and depth. One of our tensest matches was versus Webster Thomas High, which had iPBioOrMech, a grandmaster level terran player, along with other good players. The score was 3-2 their favor, and Bioormech was their current player. We sent out our last hope, Ghostfoot. I thought he would lose because Bioormech was way higher on ladder than Ghostfoot, but after a grueling 35 minute tvt or so, Ghostfoot came out the victor. The whole team was soo happy after that =D. We got by our next two matches, and here we are!
