This is a tweet from TSL_Korea:

"EG!! that's a lie. Puma Good luck. TSL Everyone you want to be a good gamer. good bye."
http://twitter.com/TSL_korea/status/94017113055956993

Have I missed something, a statement from EG or something like that?

FXO already acquired For Our Utopia and formed FXO Korea. Somehow this wouldn't surprise me.

if it were that simple then we wouldn't need translators at all would we?

Google translate fails hard and I laugh every time when I see people trying to talk to korean streamers like slayers dragon using google translate as most of the phrases make no sense at all.

Probably not the best example but try typing something in english and translating it into Swedish and my guess what it spits back out isn't what you originally typed. I won't make any guesses about the Swedish language(just making an assumption based on your location) but like Korean it probably has a different grammatical structure than english much like korean does.

So in the real world when someone wants to hire me they call me, not my current manager. Why should it be different in esports? If Puma had some contractual obligation then he would need to negotiate out of the contract. What is it with management acting as if they own their employees? That is not how it operates in America at all.

1. TSL made it possible for Puma to become this good and basicly paid for his "qualification". Now that finally that pays dividends EG comes a picks him up instead of putting the money in developing own talents.

2. What's even worse imo (if that is all true, I'm still waiting for an official statement), you don't approach a 19yr old boy who's probably abroad for the first time and make him an offer a kid can't really comprehend. Wait for him to return home to korea and contact him and his parents while also informing TSL of this move, that would have been the better way.

We still don't know everything but the op states that they contacted him while the tournament wasn't even finished and that's not responsible at all imo, even if I certainly hope he took this offer home and discussed it throroughly with his parents.

My statement is obviously only valid under the assumption that the op is correct. In that case I don't agree with the behaviour of EG.

Edit:

Sound to me like TSl is stating that they didn't say anything bad about EG and the statement in the op may be wrong? That would obviously change a lot so I just hope we get clarification.

I like how people say that they 'stole' him. As if players are property.

And there is nothing wrong with bypassing management. If they would have gone through TSL as opposed to talking to Puma directly, Puma most likely would not have joined EG because the TSL management would most likely twist the offer in a way that Puma would not want to join. They are desperate to keep their best player.

Talking directly to him allows them to give him the straight up offer. If it's a good enough offer, he'll take it. If not, then he will not. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement and people should be happy for both EG and Puma.

"IMO it takes a fairly scumbag person aka organization to approach PUMA personally like this."

Why? He is a person. If you want to offer a person something, then do it. It makes no sense to go through that person's management. It is not EG's responsibility to talk to the team of a player they are interested in. They are simply interested in the player, and it his that player's obligation to figure things out with his team, which he obviously did.

Dude that made no sense what so ever

Actual translation

팀원을 비롯한 많은분들과 그렇게 많은고민을하고햇는대도 이렇게.......... .................

I spoke with many people including my teamates and thought/pondered about it a lot and yet.....

Thanks for clarifying.... mind it be after the fact... sorry for my Korean translation as I have never studied it, but was not lazy enough to attempt to find the answer unlike many in the internet world

It's not about being lazy but being accurate, it doesn't take effort to copy paste a phrase in google, in-fact this is the lazier solution then writing it on TL and asking kindly for help from native speaker.

I think thats a BS comment by TSL coach: "foreign teams stealing korean players". They make it sound like the world is a terrible plague that "stole the life" from their player. Wish him the best and move on. And why are people pissed at EG? They just got a powerhouse player, be happy.

Congrats EG, he will add alot of strength to your lineup.

oh and will he be living in the team house?

Picture you were the coach. Your young player goes overseas to compete in an event. He comes back and tells you he wants/thinking to leave the team for a foreign team. I imagine you would be outraged.

Then picture yourself offering him more money and perks than the foreign team did and him saying, "you're right, I really did want to stay on my team and play in my homeland."

You really don't get it do you. It's all well and fine that they can pay him more and that he left. It's just how it happened that caused this. I'm sure if TSL and Puma were spoken to then none of this drama would have happened. Please remove your fanboy blinds and actually think.

Anyway cool to see Puma at more events and best of luck to him.

You really don't get it do you? TSL could have kept him if they wanted and could afford it. they couldn't and they are mad so they are starting a shitstorm about it. Take off your villainy glasses and see it for what it is. TSL is falling apart and the coach doesn't like it. Starts whining publically. It's retarded to think that Scoots has to go and talk to TSL's coach to make an offer to one of his players, write your contracts better and pay the player what he's worth. One of the problems with Kespa was that it treated (and treats) players like cattle. Lucky, SC2 doesn't have that problem.

I like EG, they have my favourite player. I also like Puma and TSL. You are assuming I view things in a certain way in order to push your own belief. You have shown you don't like TSL and have shat all over them. So who here is the one with shaded glasses?

Low blow. Just for that, we wont be buying any more swedish fish OR meatballs. How do you like them apples?

Yeah, it's not like any swedes was involved in the CS1.6 affair with gux, delpan, fnatic & SK.

Similiar situation this; like gux-thingy if it Puma wasn't under contract and like delpan if Puma had a contract... either way sirscoots commented on it on Lo3 in a pretty critical manner then so I would assume he has an explanation.

some reading for those interested: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=227816

I don't remember what episode of Lo3 this was discussed, one in may I would assume... anyone know?

Found the episode: Lo3 #74, http://blip.tv/liveonthree/live-on-three-e74-06-01-2011-5232876 (approx. last 15 min of the episode ) basically sirscoots says if a player is contracted to another organization he would informally ask the player for interest at first, then he would go to the manager holding the players contract and discuss a deal. And that's if the organizations should play nice with each other (as there aren't any organizational agreements or contracts between the organizations), any legal issues would be between the contracted player and the organization. But he didn't like the way fnatic and sk didn't play nice.

So my initial memory was wrong: sirscoots didn't say anything critical about uncontracted players, but only fnatic and SKs handling of contracted players and a wish for them all [e-sport teams] to play nice with one another.

Don't really see how anyone can be mad at EG or Puma for this (besides his team). They offered him a contract, he obviously weighed the pros and cons, and was willing to pay the penalties (if there were any) for breaching his contract with TSL (if there was a contract).

In North American pro sports, the same thing would happen if there weren't penalties for doing so, ie not allowing the player to play at all unless he fulfills his contract completely. SC2 is not at that point yet, and I'm not sure it ever will be.

EG obviously offered Puma something TSL couldn't, whether it's a higher salary or just the chance to go to more foreign events, we don't know the details. I'm excited to see Puma at more foreign events though.

Congratulations, you are definitely the first one to try google translate and realize it's shit and what it translates makes in fact no sense at all.

Thank you for your contribution to answer the persons question... at least an attempt was made, might it be not by you.

Posting gibberish that no one can understand is not a contribution to answer the person's question, and you compounded the asshattery by adding a snide comment. Just don't ever use automated translation tools to generate content around here. Especially not for Asian languages. We've got lots of very talented folks around here that can extract meaning from the Hangul.

Actually, if you are a contracted player in the MLG, NFL or NBA you are not allowed to do that... It is breaking rules.

Actually, when they are under contract and they want to move, they just whine in the clubhouse. If that doesn't work, they complain to the press. Then, once they become toxic to the team morale, ownership has no choice but to give in to the player and trade them where they want. These kinds of things happen in sports - it just looks different because of the governing body and league rules.

I can't say I'm surprised that EG has used these underhand and sly tactics to secure a player. Their current roster consists of one notable player (IdrA,) with the rest of them having underperformed consistently. Even if there is no contract, it's incredibly disrespectful to go behind the coach/team's back and accquire their star player. It's also very detrimental to the industry; if we want esports to grow and to be recognised as a legit and professional organisation then we need to eliminate shit like this.

HAHA, anyone else remember the LO3 after NASL finals where they were talking about koreans dominating and scoots said something along the lines of "I guess it just means I need to go out and get 'a Puma'". He wasn't joking.... I wonder if he will be living in the EG house or staying in korea.
