They don't get stolen in soccer, the interested team contacts the player's team, they pay a buyout fee that is attached to the contract of virtually every soccer player in EU/SA, then the player can move teams. If you try to go around contracts FIFA will always block your move.

Football (!)... Low/Mid-Class Europe basically buys every good player from every non european country there is, then they move from "lower tier" EU countries to high tier leagues. Even when the players are still juniors not even really playing in the "main" Team of their Club in their homecountry...
For instance, if you see a truly good player in the Swiss league, it probably will take 1-2 Seasons and he is off to Germany, France or Italy.. And if he's really, really good from there probably off to England/Spain. While the Swiss club probably buyed this player from some (even) worse league. in europe or some club from a random country.
It's all about money, money, money.

Congrats EG, he will add alot of strength to your lineup.
oh and will he be living in the team house? Picture you were the coach. Your young player goes overseas to compete in an event. He comes back and tells you he wants/thinking to leave the team for a foreign team. I imagine you would be outraged. Then picture yourself offering him more money and perks than the foreign team did and him saying, "you're right, I really did want to stay on my team and play in my homeland."
You really don't get it do you. It's all well and fine that they can pay him more and that he left. It's just how it happened that caused this. I'm sure if TSL and Puma were spoken to then none of this drama would have happened. Please remove your fanboy blinds and actually think.
Anyway cool to see Puma at more events and best of luck to him.

No, they don't get stolen in the NBA. 99% or the time they come over, get drafted and go back to Europe and play for a few more years to develop more.

People don't seem to understand the principle of respect here... Currently there aren't any rules about not being allowed to go after contracted players, but there should be. Pulling this kind of crap is shameful.

Honestly if you look at professional sports, I'm not sure why there's any surprise here.
If Puma wasn't under contract, effectively, he's a free agent. Yeah, he could be "loyal" and stick with his team, or run things by them, but that's up to him.
If he wasn't under contract, who's fault is that? The teams for not locking up someone they wanted to be a part of their team. The Lakers dont just let Kobe hang out with them as part of the team, he's signed to a contract, so he can't leave on a whim. That's the teams fault, period.
If he WAS under contract, then I assume there could be a problem, but even then. TSL released him, meaning they waived any contract he had, meaning they can't do anything at this point more or less. There isn't an association that stops team A from tampering with player B from team C, nothing can stop it, aside from legal wording in the contracts the players sign. Otherwise, this can and will continuously happen.

yeah because what Puma wants to do with his life is up to TSL also what it is is EG approached puma first, then puma talked to TSL and then accepted TSL didnt have no idea of what was coming they just mad EG got Puma

GO GO EG! This is awesome news.
I don't understand the hate? this has nothing to do with the manager since he didn't make Puma sign an actual contract!? This is Puma's choice so let it be his.

I feel like there's an underlying reason why people are leaving TSL so easily. I mean we saw FD/Trickster leave and then Rain, and now PuMa. Something is not adding up here.

Thats right, you can't just waltz into another country and take their players. If you want one without drafting him, then you need to wait for his contact to expire or buy it out. EG did neither of those things, which is embarassing to the organization if you ask me...

Wow this thread is moving so dam fast. In relevance to the thread, I don't see this being good for Puma at all. The quality of practice he's gonna get will pale in comparison to the one in TSL. The only thing that benefits is his wallet, which of course triumphs over everything else

Sleazyness overwhelming from EG. I'm all for players making as much money as they can but, that's not the issue here. It's the way EG went about it. I would be interested to know if this was "hatched" after Puma won the NASL Open Bracket(If he goes far in the Finals we'll grab him) or if they just saw an opportunity at the Finals itself. Also if Puma had declined did they have plans to poach another Korean at the event? It's legal, but unethical and underhanded as fuck.
No team is going to trust their top players around EG from now on that's for sure.

I have to agree with this. Regardless of whether Puma actually talked to his couch and team about this, EG should not of been approaching Puma directly, this is a slap in the face to the team management and is player poaching. I can't blame Puma at all for wanting to join EG, infact it makes a lot of sense for more koreans to be partnering up with international teams as there is a lot more money and fans for them to be making internationally. And I think this kind of action bring a bad rep to foreign teams. Koreans will lose respect for us if our teams are taking their players in such shameful ways.
The question is, will Korean teams be more hesitant to send players to our competitions because of this? This actually makes me think of North Korean defectors This is why any "talent" that leaves the DPRK comes with a military escort to ensure that they don't defect. Will this be the new trend in eSports? The manager travels with their players to ensure no poaching?
Without a league to enforce some sort of anti-tampering rules (i.e. in NFL, NBA, MLB), sadly, there's nothing to be done about situations like this. This even happens in the professional world - a lot of non-competes get broken and employees get poached even while they are "under contract."

If there was foul play by EG here, I mean actual legal breaches of contract, TSL would be talking about it. Instead they're just acting mad about losing another player.
There doesn't need to be a breach of contract for it to be a dick move from EG, man. "Just business" or not, this is like the 4th time (just that I've gotten wind of) that EG's gotten really negative press due to a move they've made on the field.
Who are SirScoots and Colbi anyway? We know virtually nothing about these people, save for SirScoots having a little soap box on onmoregame, and Colbi making tournament threads on teamliquid/getting into it with Tyler.
It'd be nice to see full disclosure going forward, but I don't see the incentive for EG. Don't know how all of this bad press even affects them in the end. Kind of irking.

I can't ever see this situation happening without it passing by the TSL coach first. There has been plenty of time between the NASL finals and today for Puma to tell his team and his coach about the offer he was presented.
He even posted on his twitter that he thought about it with his team and coach before finalizing the agreement (according to translation).
I'm no businessman, but I really doubt EG would just give Puma a good offer, he likes it, and he joins on the spot without any contact with his team.
