I have to agree with this.
Regardless of whether Puma actually talked to his couch and team about this, EG should not of been approaching Puma directly, this is a slap in the face to the team management and is player poaching.
I can't blame Puma at all for wanting to join EG, infact it makes a lot of sense for more koreans to be partnering up with international teams as there is a lot more money and fans for them to be making internationally.

As long as Puma wasn't under a contract I don't see anything wrong with EG approaching him. If he had been under contract then you need to approach the manager/team leader. Assuming that Puma wasn't signed to a contract with TSL, EG probably has a lot more to offer him as a player, especially financial support because of that teams sponsors.

Yup, there's a reason pro players in sports and esports sign these things called contracts.

I'm seeing a lot people make pretty sweeping judgments here without all of the facts. We don't know very much, and we're getting an incomplete picture of what happened.

Understand TSL being bummed that they lose Puma, but its no secret that the "less-than-absolute-top-tier" players get looked after a lot more in foreign teams than korean teams.
I mean financially.

On a constructive note, it is entirely possible that PuMa was under contract. However, unless the contract was properly notarized and signed it isn't legally binding. If he was under contract but it wasn't a legally binding one (aka not properly notarized and certified) then he was free to leave. It was, essentially a Gentleman's agreement. He could have left at any time he chose to. If this is the case (and to be fair I don't know if it is) then, while underhanded, it was completely legal. This is something which actually, Sir Scoots mentioned on an episode of Live on Three but I think is completely accurate, that as esports continues to grow I think we need to start taking contracts more seriously and doing things like properly notarizing them and creating a framework by which they actually become legally binding. The law is different everywhere.
Doesn't every sport organization have to do this like the FIFA ?

You are right, you aren't allowed to go after a contracted player. Even if the player is a restricted free agent, such practices are frowned upon. EG has proven themselves to be a low class organization once again. I don't know how many counter-strike fans are here, but you guys should remember when they basically did the same thing to Complexity back in the day.

To be harsh, but quite honest: EG needed a player that can perform, besides IdrA

Isn't he one of the most requested practice partners in korea? I doubt he'll have a hard time finding people to practice with.

ok lets go buy puma from the coach
"Sup coach" "sup sirscoots" "can i buy puma" "ya scoots"
later
"hi puma" "hi scoots" "I bought you puma" "what?"

It sounds dirty to me but that's only from reading the OP. It just feels like EG "stole" the player from TSL.
You'd think this would be breaking some rule in a contract between TSL and Puma.
In the end Puma is getting $$ which is always great for a player and EG is getting a great player and practice partner.
|
I think thats a BS comment by TSL coach: "foreign teams stealing korean players". They make it sound like the world is a terrible plague that "stole the life" from their player. Wish him the best and move on. And why are people pissed at EG? They just got a powerhouse player, be happy.
Congrats EG, he will add alot of strength to your lineup.
oh and will he be living in the team house?

It is breaking rules. People get stolen from other countries to play in the NBA all the time, and I am sure soccer does it too. The last few years, the KHL and the NHL have been stealing players off eachother. It may not be allowed but it happens in pro sports all the time.

Well puma will get more money now etc... but his play will stagnate since the only decent practice partner he will have is idra.

Further, I have to add that in my opinion EG has done nothing wrong in this transaction and in fact TSL managment are being far less "ethical" by painting such a dark picture of the foreign team scene and producing what can only be called a shitstorm. If the SK-fnatic 1.6 saga has taught anyone its that some stuff is better for organisations to air behind closed doors, or they both end up being tainted by it. Well that is just the problem. According to TSL (and admittedly we only have their side atm) they were NEVER CONTACTED IN PRIVATE BY EG. So how can you blame them for putting this out publicly? If what they say is true, you can't.
What I mean is that post "Puma theft" they should have announced their displeasure towards EG in private. There was nothing stopping them from contacting EG before they released their player either.

And I think this kind of action bring a bad rep to foreign teams. Koreans will lose respect for us if our teams are taking their players in such shameful ways.
