Maybe fearing this could happen in Korean SC2 scene he decide it is time to earn some money. I'm well aware of how those teams work. Puma can be considered anywhere from mid to high depending on who you ask. This is why EG decided to throw money at him. It is what it is. I don't see how the hell his play is going to benefit from this.

Yes EG was very unethical for approaching Puma on their own. Lets put it this way. Imagine you are there, at NASL, the final event. And you know for a fact that PUMA is contracted to TSL, who spent their own money to fly him over there, and due to his success they must have spent a lot of money investing in him (team house, food, equipment, coaching, player connections, practice partners, salary etc..), and you as a team (EG) approaches him quietly to say "hey, would you like to come join our team? Lets talk about it more. Here's our number, call us" - behind the backs of the team coach. That my friends, is damn DIIIRTY. What's really dirty is TSL not paying PuMa enough to stay in Korea. If they really invested a lot in him (financially), then they really should have hired a better lawyer to draft the player contracts.

I mean he's a guy who admitted live that he wanted to get skin care with 50,000$... Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it just seems so so naive... Some EG guy came up to him, offered him to multiply his salary by god knows how much and participate in every foreign tournament (after he just won the biggest one - prizepoolwise), and he just said yes. The saddest thing is he didn't talk to his team manager/members beforehand, which means there's no turning back now... I can't imagine his reaction when he'll reach the top of the NA ladder and realize how mediocre the skill level is compared to korea... or when he'll realize he can maintain a >90% win ratio in practice games in EG's house...

On July 21 2011 21:26 Jonas ![]() Really good for EG, Really good for Puma, Really bad for TSL, Really good for foreign eSports That's really all there is to say on the topic. Also: I'm fucking pumped. hahha How is this good for foreign esports? It's good for foreigner teams, but foreigner players may find themselves quickly out of work. If you're EG and you have the money to put together a package that is attractive to Puma, why aren't you floating said package to 3-4 other Koreans right now? If you're complexity or sixjax, don't you have to do the same to keep up?

Shame, I thought without Tester/FD TSL had a really solid core to build back up on but losing Puma is a big blow. Disappointed it was EG of all teams that poached him, the money will probably be nice but virtually nothing to be gained in the way of practice partners there. Being out of a practice house will probably hurt him over the coming months, and if this move upsets the Korean scene significantly I guess it could also come back to bite him if he needs future practice partners.

no surprise this hasn't happened more, the foreign team just have so much more to offer than korean teams right now. the only thing lacking is the training regime and partners, but that can be fixed. the foreign teams have much better sponsorship, thus more equipped to send players to tournaments. dick move? maybe, but any player would probably have taken the deal

I mean, no one seems to be complaining that STX has put up their whole roster for trade right? Team loyalty? Managers and coaches only use that excuse when convenient. That being said, if it turns around and happens to EG they shouldn't expect anyone to be sobbing. Kinda starting to sound like the NFL... Lol...

Don't like the very opportunistic grab by EG on this one, especially since it really only benefits them from this. Sure it will be great for PuMa to get some foreigner tournaments for himself, but his skill is just going to drop off from not having any teammates over there living with him. Plus I don't know how well he actually speaks English... but having ONE Korean on a team has really got to set a strong language barrier. IMO it's way too opportunistic for EG to do that

They risked becoming irrelevant at a time when they absolutely could not afford to because they sunk a bunch of money and man hours into their team house. I just hope they did their research on Korea and the business culture of Korea and are prepared to mitigate any possible backlash. By that I mean, what happens if the Korean Association of teams bars their players from practicing with players from EG? Puma would be kind of screwed. It is not as much acquiring Puma as how they acquired him, not even contacting his team. Also how can you have a team where Axslav and Lzgamer are on the roster still and you just pickup someone like Puma?

I was wondering when more koreans would start moving towards the money since there's only like one tourny in korea. TSL's coach has a good history coaching at MBCGame. I think the issue is with foreign tournaments and the team having enough money to send them overseas.
