The difference is that FXO picks up teamless players and they picked up a whole team instead of taking 1 player from their team. FXO picking up fOu and this is totally different. FXO basically helped out fOu, a team struggling with finances, and took them on as their own. fOu is going to be the same exact team they were last week, but with more money. Choya continues to coach, their players get streams set up to make their own money, and guys like SC can come to international tournaments. This sounds like EG just approached Puma and offered him a contract while he was still on TSL. If he was still under contract with TSL at the time, this would really disgust me. TSL is also one of the teams who actually gives salaries to their players. Puma was their ace, so I can see why they would be so mad. They go suddenly from a top team to a mid-level team with no ace. This will definitely hurt with sponsorships. The worst thing is that Korean teams might not want to send their players to international events anymore. Why send them when they could get poached if they do well?

I highly doubt any one of you were there when EG approached Puma and spoke with him about their offer, nor did you have any information about Puma's contract with TSL and if he even had one or what the details were of that contract. It is very possible that EG had more information on his contract, lack of one, or the details that Puma was allowed to discuss. On the flip side, lets say EG had no clue the details of the contract and approached Puma anyway and asked him if he could openly discuss business about his contract and possible one with EG, in which case he clearly said he could because here we have this deal. Now, while it may be 'polite' to talk to a coach or manager first where on earth does it say its required? If anything this is a huge step in the right direction for players everywhere because teams are going to have to start treating players very good if the want to keep them, competition will make things better for the players. We could even go the ethics route and say its completely possible Korean coaches don't want other teams talking to their players because "what the player doesn't know won't hurt the team". I go back to the fact that these teams are ran by a business/sponsors and they want results. If they can control the offers made to their players then they can better control the situation with them staying or leaving their team. All this hate on EG just blows my mind. Its clear that TSL wasn't treating Puma good enough or he wouldn't have taken an offer from a foreign team who has no real pull in the Korean scene. EG just made a killer business move. Bottom line is Puma, the player here, just did good for numero uno.

Yeah I like FXO more, they seem to be more legit when they do business. Always considered SK to be shady. Mainly for their CS 1.6 drafts but it seems like EG is doing the same. You should always approach the team before you talk to the player, that's how you do business. You can talk to the players ofc but the player should not be the one telling the team that he might join another team. The organisation should be aware that EG are talking to Puma and then take counter measures to try to keep Puma in the team. Nonetheless, HUGE move by EG and they will now have 2 starplayers in their team. What I'm curious about is if Puma will stay in Korea or if he's going to join up with EG in the EG team house.

His deal obviously was expiring and they were met with an offer they couldn't match so they're throwing a tantrum. It's not like Puma wasn't going to play out his contract. He probably told them he would play it out then leave and then they did this as their only move to shame him in the Korean scene. Those guys take national pride seriously so this is a way to get back at him. If anybody is shameless in this it's TSL. *Note that I write all this knowing it will get buried under pages of mindless sc2 newbie pitchfork garbage bashing EG*

It's TSL's fault for having bad contracts to prevent this? edit: I feel bad for TSL though.

On top of that he hasn't even made it to the GSL so who knows how long it will take for him to work up to code S. By joining EG he will be able to compete in alot more tournaments with a great chance of winning many of them and he gets a salary. Smart move by Puma, even tho I feel really bad for TSL. TSL was the first korean team with salaries. He most likely had one. Not as big though.

They are BAD... relative to the practice partners and competition PumA had in TSL. As much as people like to try to ignore it, Koreans are far better than the vast majority of foreigners. As said by a previous poster. SC2 scene is getting weirder and weirder with foreign tournaments/teams having the money and Korea having the actual talent.

I was comparing the non-Korean teams and how FXO is one of the less "shady" teams out there.
