TSL announced today that they will be releasing Puma on their team. The team revealed today that after Puma won NASL, Puma directly received interest from a foreign team, Evil Geniuses.

Manager Lee noted that "It is disappointing that we have to make a decision like this, but it's absolutely disgusting that Evil Geniuses would ignore the coaches completely and directly go talk to the player"

TIG confirms that Puma will be joining Evil Geniuses. EG made an offer to Puma after they made it to the round of 4, and after that, Puma had decided that he would accept EG's offer. Puma revealed his intentions to the TSL manager after coming back to Korea. Manager Lee decided to respect the player's wishes in the end. He noted that "It's really disturbing. It feels like the player I raised was just stolen away from me.", adding that "There needs to be a system to stop foreign teams from stealing Korean players like this"

EG has been revealed to pay Puma a certain amount of salary, and to provide Puma with money for foreign tournaments.

That part bugs me a tad. Both because it really does shed a negative light on foreigner teams and also Puma knew a lot coming over to SC2 after playing BW as Flash's practice partner for however long. It's not like he really raised him up or anything, he just knew who he was and realized that he was going to be a solid player after having that much skill prior.

Postman, because there was NO OFFER.

It was all done behind the fucking back of TSL.

too bad the PLAYER chooses what team to join, no one forced puma to join EG at gunpoint

there are these things called ethics and respect

If true, how long before Puma's skill deteriorates?

A month or 2 until he's competing on incontrol level.

Wow this is just disgusting, by both EG and puma, just going behind TSL's back like that, all it does is create more bad rep for foreigners and make EG look terrible.

Congratulations to EG and PuMa! An outstanding team with an outstanding player. Best of luck to both of them, and condolences to TSL. They're really having a harsh run lately.

If this is true I'm very discouraged by the lack of professionalism from EG management.

I don't know why are people making such a big deal out of this. SC2 scene doesn't run with KeSPA laws guys, and PuMa is not TSL's "property" either. If TSL has problems with this, they should pay their players. You can't blame PuMa for choosing the money either.

oh, Puma is the Mr Miyagi that djWheat talked about. Having Puma train with the EG team would be really beneficial to all the EG players.

At this point every foreign team needs to begin dropping players in favor of Koreans. Imagine if coL dropped all 20 of their players and instead spent that money on Nestea. Boom, they would instantly be 100 times better.

The korean interview stated clearly in coach lee's words that EG did not talk to the team/coach at all, and just talked to the player while Puma was in NASL. Puma informed coach lee and told him that he wishes to join EG. So coach lee could do nothing but release him (he never had the chance to talk to EG). This is pretty sad...

I don't think it's sad at all. Good for Puma, good for EG. I personally find it highly offensive that some coach thinks he, and not the player should be approached with job offers.

Think about it, if your employer claimed that you cannot switch jobs unless a rival approaches your management about it, you'd think it was absolutely insane.

Yes, it's called a contract and a competitive salary.

This is classic Western vs Eastern thinking colliding. On most Western teams, the players have much more autonomy than Eastern teams. It seems to me that the coaches are pissed because they felt like the player was going over their heads, when a Western team wouldn't necessarily be bothered for that reason (although others may exist in a sketchy deal like this).

I don't see anything wrong with it, good players should always be courted by everyone and it's up to them to decide where they actually want to go.

Ah this reminds me. Demuslim was just talking on his stream the other day he was hoping for some Korean practice partners. Puma will turn Demuslim into a TvT master.
Never argue with an idiot. They will just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Good move by EG, tho I reckon that or PuMa comes to the US or EG need to get some more players in KR and build their own team house there.
