Or their founding players joining another team?
It's been pretty obvious for weeks now that not all is right within the TSL team. You don't have 2 founding members plus a GSL finalist leave because the internals of the team are going well.

Seems some people are confusing SC2 for a team game. Yes, there is GSTL but the real money and fame is in GSL and other 1v1 tournaments. So it is each player for himself, teams are just for training, I see no reason why members must remain absolutely loyal if a better opportunity presents itself. Puma is not Major, he is not switching teams every 2 weeks.
Did such an outcry exist when Trickster, Clide and FD left oGs to start TSL?! Or when they left TSL to go to ST?

Lol, Puma did play in a pro SC1 team and he DID get a salary, just like every other SC1-player.
That the kids got treated as "slaves" is in itself wrong since they chose that line of work themselves and they are working for their passion.
Not saying I would do it, I probably wouldnt have the balls,
Edit: Also, the only foreigner events that Koreans had any interest in BW was WCG and they sent players who qualified to WCG every year, so in other words, if Puma could perform good enough to be let into WCG or other foreigner events then he would be sent to them.
In other words, all you say is wrong bro!

TSL screwed up big time.

Please, read the thread before you write bs.

See: Gom BW tournaments, etc. yes Kespa did abuse their power. but they did setup a good infrastructure for the scene. i just hope SC2 organization can do the same.
Note that the prevailing SC2 organization currently tells teams to not let their players stream. Do you know why you see a few SlayerS players stream? Because SlayerS is not a member of that SC2 governing organization.

Its good news overall, but I don't like that EG could get Puma without giving TSL anything, that seems really wrong, but I guess that can be avoided with better contracts.

I think the bigger thing to consider is how the management of the SCII pro scene will react; will the continue to send players to foreign events? Will partnerships like the oGs-Liquid' house become viable if the higher ups in Korea start to mistrust their foreign counterparts?
If not, they are only opening up for even more players leaving teams. It feels like Korea is waking up to the fact that SC2 is truly global, not korean.

Puma would have a long way to go in Korea. In foreign tournaments he should be able to melt faces. If he gets a nice salary, too, I completely understand Puma's team change.
|
TSL is just a sinking ship and people condemning any team for saving a player from it is laughable. There's a reason a lot of their players wish to leave or have left. Who wouldn't want to be able to play in as many tournaments as possible? Should you stifle your career just to be a nice guy and be unhappy?

For those who are only interested in drama and over exaggerating everything that happens in E-sports, can't you just buy some 90210 boxsets instead of conspiring against the companies that actually contribute to the professional Sc2 scene.
Puma wanted to leave, EG wanted Puma. Regardless of how it happened, it was inevitable. I'm amazed people are more obsessed with the formalities than the news itself.
I'm pleased to see EG actively attempting to improve their roster and if they want to keep a player of Puma calibre, they will need to continue recruiting heavily.
|
Well maybe instead of outright buying players from Korean teams, EG can offer trades... Oh wait...

This is a typical "EG move".
Never liked them and never will, I kinda like Axslav though because he was a baller wc3 player.

EG currently is without a Terran after LZ switched, also EG is building up a team house for their players so the situation for Puma wouldn't change too much. I hope there wont be a communication issued though.
Also I hope that this is not becoming commonplace. Lately you have seen SK, Fnatic and EG getting Korean players.
These teams need to be very careful of what the fans actually think, its ultimately they who are the source of their income. If they cannot relate to the team anymore, or start to dislike it for whatever reason its a big loss for the teams.
|
hehe well i disliked eg before, that was such a backstabbing move. its such a cool name, but its just evil and not evil geniusses (they are only cool when insane). But i know from experience that people are quiet forgiving to people making contracts with hated teams ^^.

Interesting for sure, I hope this will be good for the foreign community.
